I am new player, what is mercyboard?

In other games, the GOONs community would make requirements of people to be left alone in-game (like during a war or something). Some of these requirements were harmless, like 'write a 800 word essay on why soda is great' or 'draw a comic about x, y, and z.' Most infamously, however, a 12 year old (or something like that) was asked to eat dog food on a video and upload it (which he did). This sparked a lot of outrage here for obvious reasons and so 'mercyboarding' is thought of pretty poorly because of it.

I just did 9 ground battles in a row lol.

This was immediately after update today, so about 10 minutes ago. Only 1 ground battle took away MAPs. I believe I still had 9 by the final ground attack.

I'm on Microsoft Edge on a laptop with Windows 10. I kept pressing 'Attack Again'.

By far the most common mistake new players make is building farms. And while I usually think allowing players to do dumb is a good thing, a slightly gentler approach should be used for new players. And in particular the games tutorial should not be actively directing new players into doing dumb things. So two things need to happen.

    1. The objective to build a farm should instead be made into an objective to buy food and have explanation of why farms are bad.
    2. Attempting to build a farm below 1.5k land should require confirmation that they understand it is a terrible idea.

I like suggestion 1. I'm firmly of the opinion that admin/mod intervention should be minimized as much as possible, so a soft redirection like that is really cool and I think it would be effective.

I don't like suggestion 2 because I don't think there's a strong enough precedent for using confirmations like that. I think confirmations like that only exist for deleting projects/cities, VM'ing, or deleting one's nation. Those things are in a whole other ballpark from building farms inefficiently.

The only thing you are doing is forcing the other blocs to blob together in order to survive and putting us right back to a bipolar world. So good job I guess.

You guys immediately formed a new sphere. You guys immediately declared a war for, apparently, no reason (as it stands now). Neither of these things had to happen.

The Hollywood member cries out in pain as he strikes you.

Ah, I miss the days where alliance govs gagged clueless members so their PR wouldn't be harmed. But for that I guess you need a competent alliance. Fun.

No, please. This thread has been one of the most entertaining ones in a while.

The past 24 hours have been very exciting!. With Hollywood forming, hitting Rose, Oasis hitting back, and now also Mystery coming in, there is a lot to go over! I am also hearing reports of some massive fraud and corrupting going on in the business world. I will be giving my schizo takes on the war and Abigor/Eligos will be coming on a guest to talk about the business world shenanigans

The show will be tomorrow (May 25th) at 9 PM EST over in Thalmoria.

Running since December 2019, Thalmor Radio is P&W's oldest running radio show. Each Friday night at 9 PM EST from the Thalmoria Discord server, the show features me, Zig, and Shifty talking about what's on our minds, game news, and real life happenings.

What I get out of this thread and the various servers talking about it is.

    TKR exists
    Therefore
    Hegemony

Any facts or reality to the matter be damned.

There has been nothing but universal condemnation and disapproval over this new FA move. Your own former allies in Syndisphere are dunking on your leaders in public over it.

If you guys don't want to take into account other people's perspectives, then fine. Y'all gotta do what you think is best for your members and allies. But, you share this game with a lot of other people. Coming out of one megasphere into a second one and then hitting another bloc because 'well it's revenge but not really' has left a bad taste in just about everyone's mouth. There's a lot more nuance to it than just 'TKR man bad' and you do yourselves a disservice to dismiss it so simply.

  8. A big factor to making a successful alliance is to have a community. I believe Camelot is a micro success story. They were a nobody micro but have grown into a fairly respectable alliance. Most micros fail to do this, though, and they fall apart. Community is why you have small alliances with only a handful of people stay together and active even though they're relatively poor and isolated.

Community is also why 'bloated micros' alliances like Polaris and Fark stick around. They would probably have disappeared long ago if they weren't so old. Although, at that point 'micro' is just being used as a slur.

A strong community can survive anything. NPO only left because they chose too.

  9. Congrats on peace! It would've been easy to let the difference in size/experience scare you guys into inaction, but y'all hit your aggressors on the chin and projected some power despite being a new bloc of smaller alliances/players. Respect! Hope y'all got some good experience out of this.

Not sure why some people want to go so hard against a small bloc, though. Probably insecure about something!

I am hosting a short bonus episode tonight at 10 PM EST over in Thalmoria. I will be talking about Swamp breaking up and the war thus far. I have no guests planned but some people will probably be unmuted to give their takes on things.

Regular show at 9 PM EST Friday will still happen.

Wait, did Alex step in and reverse this?

Yeah, I'm curious about this too.

If he did step in, what was the justification?
