  1. so marrying a teen and having sex with them makes you a pedophile even if they are 15 and give you their consent?

Well, that is the legal definition.

Aisha was 6/7 when she married Muhammad and he consummated the marriage when she was 9/10.

Jesus wasn't a shepherd, he was a carpenter. And your book of made up shit that Muhammad thought of can't be used as evidence, since Muhammad never met Jesus and had a weak grasp on his actual teachings at best.

  2. If I remember correctly - the post in question was not just insulting a religion, because there have been many posts that have insulted religion on these forums, but it was more angled at the person who celebrates that religion, thus an insult at religion with an angled insult at the player you were speaking to/of.

Our discussion within the report deemed it fit to hand out a warn to you.

Be careful in the future in structuring your responses.

You are incorrect, and considering you are the one who approved the warn point your lack of knowledge about what it is you were warning me for is worrying.

This is the post in question, none of which relates to the person practicing it and everything to do with the religion and it's founder:

If this is criticising Abu, it's only criticising him for his beliefs not him as a person. I insist if you warn me for this you warn every occasion where someone's political or religious beliefs are insulted.

The exact wording of my warning was:

    Spite,

Your comment was an insult against a religion, attacking them for that religion. That will not be tolerated at all, and you have been given a warn point for your comment.

  3. The religion of christ was Islam and he debated with great Jews of the time.

The true bible foretold the coming of Muhammad but it has been corrupted since

I take all your insults with modesty. He was a shepherd John 10:1-21

It even says in the passage you quoted that this was a figure of speech. He wasn't literally a Shepherd.

  4. Arabic tribal religions worshipped Allah and idols of varying power.

Islamic monotheism was brought to Adam when he was created. Over time as it became corrupted by different civilisations it became necessary to distinguish them and islam

Then I am a proud illiterate half mad polygamist goat farmer

    all prophets farmed goats

Pretty sure Jesus was a carpenter. He may have made the odd goat pen though.

I'm also pretty sure your line of thought is complete bullshit.

  5. Responding to Vietnam etc is a waste of time, I swear to god he is a multi account of someone sensible who just trolls in the most predictable way possible.

I don't think prostitution should be nationalised but I think it should be heavily regulated. All sex work has a high risk of exploitation and a poverty/entrapment element. It's also one of the most dangerous jobs out there. Partly the answer is better regulation and part of it is promoting unionism amongst sex workers.

  6. I'm loathe to get pulled into an Israel thread but...

Firstly, Zionism is a broad church. Even when the first zionists in the Russian Empire started preaching, there were many sects. Religious zionists, socialist zionists, practical zionism amongst them. Some of these wished to establish a Jewish religious state, some a national state, some just wanted an autonomous region of the ottoman empire, some just wanted to live in Palestine whoever the ruler was.

Secondly, let's look at the context in which zionism was shaped. As already discussed, by 1918 there were already over 70k Jews in Palestine. Between 1918 and 1945 that population grew tenfold. 80% of those immigrants were poor Jews from eastern Europe, specifically Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia and the Ukraine.

Over this period there was a gradual pivot from an imperial mindset to a national mindset globally. The imperial mindset allows the idea that many nations live under one empire. The national mindset focused on the idea of a single nation and a single state. This change squeezed out the Jews and other ethnic minority groups all across Europe.

The zionist mindset itself became more nationalist in response, fitting in with the zeitgeist of the time. More pressure was put on both Jewish leaders in Palestine and leaders in the West to recognise nation states.

When the middle east was carved up, religious and ethnic minorities were given special preference for nationhood. An Alawite state was proposed and rejected. Lebanon was created specifically to prevent Christian and Shia minorities being swamped by the Syrian Sunni majority. Israel was proposed as a state where the border was drawn around the areas with a Jewish majority population.

Although the Jews were relatively new to the region, this idea of a Jewish state which closely held to the areas only with Jewish majorities made sense. In 1948 the borders of Israel contained 92.4% Jews, the rest were Arabs of various religions.

The right to self determination of populations is something enshrined in international law. In 1948 the Palestine area had been under occupation by the British, and prior to that the Ottomans, for hundreds of years. When consideration was given to which areas should become which states, the will of the people living there was taken into account. A single state with a mixed Jewish and Arab population was something both the Jews and Arabs did not want. So a two state solution was created.

The Arabs then invaded Israel and caused deep distrust between the two groups which continues to this day.

Granted this is a simplified explanation, but it's pure bollocks to say that Israel exists as a result of a conspiracy. It exists as a result of a partition of a much wider area which took into account the national identity of the peoples who lived there.

  7. The resources part is the only part I don't like. Markets might not be interesting for everyone, but why have them if you're going to screw them up like this? One of the best parts of P&W is that everything has to be produced by someone. Shortages during global wars etc are part of the game. Imagine some whale-like character buying tonnes of credits and avoiding those price spikes. It's pigdisgusting.

  8. I'm not sure what your question is supposed to be asking, but the short answer is "both". You want to ultimately end up in a position with maximum commerce, and be producing at least some materials, depending on how many free slots you have.

  9. Good work thinking about how to improve things, especially for a new player. I think your proposals come from a good place, but let me pose the inevitable counter arguments:

    1. The double strike is a strategy- that's why people tend to declare just before a turn change, to allow a 3+4 point attack (ground then air). Co-ordinated with others, this lets you wipe a nation out of the fight in minutes. Whilst this sucks if you're that nation, it's just part of war, and it's why you have an alliance and a treaty web- to counter the aggressor with a similar attack next turn to allow you to regain the upper hand.

    2. Whilst this does suck, the average price varies wildly. One solution for the accidental misclick button would be to have a pop up box (or whatever it's called) that says something like "buy 100 food for $9000?" and you click yes or no. That way if you stupidly click yes twice you deserve to be gouged.

    3. I don't see a problem with this, though I'm not sure why you'd want to bookmark specific nations.

    4. Obviously some sort of flaw in the code...SHEEPY
