Year 12: Ministry of Information, and a demand for transparency

Posted on Jul 20, 2012 by Ministry of Information, Website Office

Ministry of Information "Transparency is key to improving and enriching the lives of the Kingdom and its citizenry. We cannot exist in a modern society without regular open and honest dialogue. The government website is incredibly unkept, despite my directing the Cyber Command to assume responsibility for it. Our various news reporters often feel stymied, and I recognize their unhappiness is beginning to leak into their coverage. In truth, I am outraged at this. I am outraged that...

Throughout our history, personal unions, inheritances, and marriages have enlarged and enriched our Kingdom. His Majesty, King Grealind I is not the first to come into personal possessions. From King Anson ‘s marriage to Queen Alexandra, the Kingdom of Tejas was inherited through the Velaryon line. From King Demago II’s marriage to Queen Meghan of Vonara, and from King Greene I’s marriage, the Kingdoms of Kouston and Vonara. The Kingdom itself was founded through the unification of the tribes of the Resvernas River.

The Kingdom of August Island, in the historical Sri Lankan region, became a protectorate of the King and Kingdom in 2006 following the ousting of their tyrannical dictator. Nearly six years after that historic revolution, the citizenry has endured countless setbacks. Unexplained illnesses have struck down promising leaders, and there was murmur of a return of the exiled dictator. All this came to a head on 1 July, 2012, when a referendum was announced. A simple question, with the options of yes or no: Will the Protectorate of August Island become a semi-autonomous region of the Kingdom of Resvernas, or remain a sovereign nation with the Kingdom’s continued support and protection.

The answer was simple. Effective today, 19 August, 2012, the August Island is now a part of the Kingdom of Resvernas.

Right now there's a very un-friendly list of just whose been banned and whose been invited. To actually do anything with that information, you need to go back to the alliance main screen. My suggestion is:

    1. Add a red X next to each name so that alliance leadership can revoke an invitation or a ban right from that page

    2. Add an invitation box & ban box so that invitations or bans can be processed right from that page.

    3. Allow customizing the invitation or ban message that is delivered to the person.

    4. Display some additional information on the screen. This might require using two separate tables. Information I'd like to see for both lists are a link to the nation, their last activity time, which alliance they are in (so invited people who are in an alliance could easily be seen and removed), and maybe what their current score is?

    5. The ability to invite multiple people at the same time from this screen. Right now a lot of larger alliances have their members send out PMs. By allowing this, along with suggestion #3, alliance officers at least could have an easier time recruiting, which could also help smaller alliances who don't necessarily have the manpower compete with the bigger alliances.

    6. With #3, players might get inundated with ban/invite messages Especially newer players. One possible way to mitigate this would be to add an option in My Account to toggle off invite/ban messages. If toggled, invitations would not be sent, nor would ban notices.

    7. Alliance Management makes me think of tailoring ranks, tax rates, and permissions to each member. Obviously that's not what's happening here. Maybe change the name to "Invites & Bans" - a little on the nose, but at least no one can say they don't know what's going on here. Well trolls can, but they're asshats.

  4. The city in question has 1300 infra.

    K2icNIV.png

The template in question requires 1500 infra.

    pwxyg15.png

The error message says that the city does not have enough infra.

The possible bug I'm reporting is that the import function does not also buy the required amount of infrastructure. If this is a bug, then I'm reporting it. If it is not a bug, could you please move this thread to the suggestions forum so that it could be a suggestion?

  5. I agree with Wolfie and Alexei. As much as I wish some of these guys would just pick a national concept and stick with it, forcing name changes is just stupid.

I don't mind some form of alternation of a name, for example France is still France. Sure she's now a French republic instead of a French empire, but she's still France. Most of the nations on the map are just their "common" name and not their full name. Evenstar is The Kingdom of The Evenstar. Resvernas is The Kingdom of Resvernas, Chernigov is (was?) the Eternal Empire of Chernigov, Stanistan is the Designation of Stanistan. With only a few short exceptions, that's how it's displayed on the map. Maybe the solution would be to just change the map name of France (and similar) to remove their "Empire" or "Kingdom" or whatever other fancy text and labels they have, and just go with their common names instead of their official names.

As far as national concepts go, I'd love it if we could impose some sort of "stick it out" rule that says if your gov changes type, you cant change it again for at least a couple of months. Give your new rp a chance before you blow it all to hell.

The Kingdom of Resvernas pledges economic support to our fellow Iberians, The Kingdom of The Evenstar. Whatever you need to bring this to a swift and satisfactory conclusion, if it is in our power to, we will provide.
