  1. Currently looking for one (or more) people to create me two awesome flags. The first one is for my alliance, and the second is for my nation. I'm definitely aware that these would be costly, and for high quality work, I'll pay. Ripper was going to give a go at them, however he's advised I try to find someone else to tackle these challenges.

    1. Animated flag designed for Duat that starts with the main Ripple II flag, and then "shimmers" into each of the four Deity flags. All the flags can be found at www.duat.pw

    2. Animated flag designed for my nation, Ministry of Magic, that starts with the Ministry logo, having it alternatively glint, phase in and out, spin, basically have the seal be somewhat "bored" and do different things to entertain itself. Maybe roll out of out of the picture altogether and then roll back in a moment later.

If you cant afford to play, dont.  Nothing worse than playing with scared money.

If you can't afford to play, but you're actually good at playing the game, come find me on Discord. I've bought four seats and am looking to hire some folks to sit down and win me money. The people I hire won't know who else is hired, although the game masters will know that they're playing with my money (since I've already sent the cash and am now gathering up the people). Precautions are in place to help ensure that cheating and collusion doesn't happen.

As for why I'm doing this, it's smart business sense.

My idea is in direct relation to this thread. If he hindered players from using the names of alliances, it would kill the sending of money mistakenly to a player or alliance who happen to have the same name.

The problem is you can't really do that. Let me give you a few notable examples.

    • There's an alliance named Hogwarts. It's themed off the Harry Potter series. There's also a nation named Hogwarts, which is also based off the Harry Potter series. Both are successful in their own right. Why should either be penalized for the other?
    • Back before Thalmor founded the Knights Templar, he was the leader of an alliance called Empire of The Evenstar. His nation name is Evenstar. His alliance name is Evenstar. He created an alliance basically as an empire extended off his nation.

In both of the above, there's a legitimate reason that both a nation and an alliance would have the same name. Now, let's look at some other possibilities.

    • The Knights Templar were a military order in the medieval ages. Are you arguing therefore that no one be allowed to call their nation Knights Templar because an alliance already exists by that name?
    • The Commonwealth of Nations is a large political entity currently and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was a historical great power in the 1700s and 1800s. Are you arguing that no one should be allowed to exude either of those, because there's an alliance called Commonwealth?
    • Let me give you another example. My nation name is now Japan. That said, Japan is the oldest continually thriving monarchy in the world. It would be arrogant to say that since my nation is called Japan, there couldn't be an alliance created also called Japan that has Daimyos and an Emperor and all the makings of feudal Japan.

The point I'm making is, in the absence of alliance officers paying attention, the best solution is to make it a check-box instead. I recently sent a $200m payment to Hogwarts but accidentally sent it to the player instead of the alliance. It happens. Most nations that have similar names are really nice about sending your cash back. If he hadn't, then that would have been an expensive lesson learned.

I agree. Also Alliance names should not be permitted to be used by ordinary players.

I disagree. But that's not really what this thread is about.

@Geralt von Rivia I feel like if Sheepy actually implements this (which lets be honest, it's a great suggestion and super easy to actually implement, so maybe in 2020) it would cut down on a lot of hastily made mistakes.

The P&W community is "dead' because the game's mechanics have stagnated. Nothing has fundamentally changed in the last two years.

Instead of adding new content to address issues the game has (for example, adding more projects to act as a resource-sink), Alex fiddles with the minutiae to address it -- for example, the changes to city-slots. It's not the best approach, but it is the easiest approach. This is why I asked if, frankly, he's bored of this project.

tbh it would be 100x easier to just add new projects. Those take a lot less time than making changes to how cities function.

    1. Figure out what the project is gonna do.

    2. Figure out what the project's name is gonna be, based on #1.

    3. Find a picture for the project.

    4. Code in the project on the projects page, revenue page, and nation screen page (assuming you aren't using a database to pull all that for you, in which case just add it to the database and be done with it).
