First Prince Ericson Sits Down For An Interview

We welcome you all to this special edition of Omni News with an interview of our First Prince Ericson Millennium. As you know, he was injured during the Western Campaign, shot in the shoulder while on his way to negotiate peace with an area leader. He then put himself on rest in the capital. Our intention was to wait a few more weeks for this interview in which we were sure to get permission to enter the palace again, bur the prince had scheduled this interview for today, even bypassing the clearance as long as it was me who was doing the interview once again. We, of course, were more than happy to agree.

He wanted the interview to be held outside in the gardens, citing he was going stir crazy staying in the palace most of the day. Unlike his sister, he was more casual in his dress, but he made sure he had a cloak to cover the obvious sling for his shoulder.

Me: Can you tell us how you really feel about the campaign?

Ericson: I'm sad that some violence had to come out of it and I won't lie and say it hurts like hell to be shot, but I do have to say it could have been a lot worse.

Me: I guess there is no need to ask how you feel about your mother's decisions afterwards.

Ericson: Personally, I would have gone for something a little harsher, but...(shrugs) mother knows what she's doing.

Me: And your opinion on having the man who shot you exiled?

Ericson: Again, I would have preferred a harsher sentence. I mean, execution was going to be a little harsh, so I guess exile was the next best thing, it's actually lead me to consider a new law that would revamp the justice system for crimes against the royal family.

Me: Think you could give us a hint at what it might be?

Ericson: (laughs) Sorry, you'll have to wait like everyone else.

Me: Can you at least tell us how you feel about those who think your mother is too lenient, how about the protest in Zelf?

Ericson: As you know how I feel, you can tell that I sympathize with them. They lost loved ones or saw loved come home injured. But I guess, when I look at it, my mother has experienced the same thing (points to his shoulder) so maybe she's angry and her punishment for herself is taking the anger and dislike. We do tend to forget that she publicly said she would take the blood and burden on her shoulders and then stated she would try to make something good come out of this. So maybe, I repeat, she knows what she's doing. And those who think it's okay to hurt someone who doesn't meet your opinion, I personally find to be low on the list of people I respect.

Me: But wouldn't you say they're just angry?

Ericson: Yes, they're angry, but that doesn't constitute an excuse to hurt someone, someone who has actually been apart of the campaign, and then attack the Seekers who were simply doing their job. The person who even organized the event said that it was not his intention for that to happen!

Me: Do you think that's why your mother hasn't released a statement on the issue?

Ericson: The only thing you need to know is that she's disappointed that that had to happen. She's always seen these moments as a way to see how the people felt and maybe learn from them, but she never liked how people thought a right didn't come with responsibilities.

Me (nods): Just one more question, you've seen our interview that we conducted with your sister. You're aware that she's more likely to gain the throne before you do. She's admitted that you're both equal when it comes to matters such as foreign affairs but you have the advantage in other areas. Do you agree with her? Do you think you deserve the throne more?

Ericson (chuckles and points to the scar on his cheek): I thought I did when I was a young child and was doing my combat training. I wanted to get strong fast and show mother that I was way better than my dumb sister to take over (he chuckles again) my teachers kept telling me I needed to slow down and not be so reckless, especially since we had begun learning how to handle real swords at the time. I was sparring with my instructor, mother was watching, and I wanted to show off. Long story short is that my instructors blade got me, and I was lucky it wasn't deeper. Mother reamed me for it: 'You can't rule if you're dead' she told me.

The moral of this story is that even if I think I did deserve the throne more, I can't rush it and I can't force it. I'd like to think mother has a long life ahead of her before she has to pick, so I'm seeing this as, if she hasn't picked then she isn't dying. Besides, if I don't become the next emperor, I do have plans of becoming a Pack General instead.

And there you have it. He's not as ambitious as his sister, but he does have dreams. We have to admit it shocked us to know that he didn't completely agree with what his mother is doing considering he has a bit of a reputation for being a mama's boy. Still, it does show us that he does have his own opinions, which is also good. Might make his rule interesting if he were to be selected.
