First cases reported in the United kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

Today, a patient who recently traveled from China who left before travel restrictions were in place, was confirmed to be infected by the COVID-19 virus in a small village  called Eaton Socon, near the border of Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. Authorities are worried of an outbreak. The family and the man have been quarantined within a secure facility but authorities have not been able to know who exactly the patient made contact with beforehand. The authorities are preparing to enact strict Stay in Place orders if more patients pop up in the area. All citizens in the area are ordered to stay at home and outsiders are advised to not permitted to enter the village and the outskirts of the village. Cambridge May has also announced that they may enact Stay at Home orders as well.

Parliament in session

Two new bills are being discussed in Parliament, first one HR-23-001

HR-23-001, or more commonly known as the "Unwinding Corporate lobbying within Government". Many Labor Party members are the biggest supporter of this legislation that would remove corporate money from Campaigns. This law will forbid:

  • Corporate entities from donating to any political organization.
  • Non-Political Organizations donating to political organizations
  • Advertising for candidates
  • Endorsing a candidate or Party

Many conservative MPs have stated they would vote against it, and say it hampers with Freedom of Speech, however at this current time, the Labor Party and other parties have come together to pass this bill and have the current numbers to pass this bill.

Second bill: NHS-100-2134

NHS-100-2134, dubbed as "Protect Public Health" would give the National Health Services of England National authority over all healthcare, absorbing National Health Services Scotland, National Health Services Wales and National Health Services Ireland.Gibraltar and the Special Spanish Administrative Zone will be given the option to opt in to this or to stay outside.

This law will give the NHS England the power to do:

  • Manage all healthcare services throughout the United Kingdom
  • Research and Development treatment for infectious diseases
  • Regulate Companies developing and researching drugs and vaccines for infectious disease
  • Authority to contain outbreaks using any measure necessary besides use of Weapons of Mass Destruction
  • To submit a budget to Parliament of required amount necessary to provide every citizen necessary healthcare services

Laws passed

Restoration of Prime Ministers position. Parliament has passed this law to restore many powers of the Prime Minister had before being stripped from the Monarchy. The Prime Minister will now be Head of Government, responsible for:

  • overseeing the operation of the Civil Service and government agencies
  • appoints members of the government
  • is the principal government figure in the House of Commons

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (informally abbreviated to PM) is the head of government of the United Kingdom. The prime minister directs both the executive and the legislature, and together with their Cabinet is accountable to the monarch, to Parliament, to their party, and ultimately to the electorate, for the government's policies and actions.

The Head of State shall be the Monarchy, who controls UK's Foreign Affairs, Military and the sole person who can declare wars and sign treaties. The Monarchy however shall not have power to legislate or enforce internal laws, which has been pushed to the responsibility of Head of Government.

The office of Prime Minister is not established by any statute or constitutional document but exists only by long-established convention, whereby the reigning monarch appoints as prime minister the person most likely to command the confidence of the House of Commons

If the parliament loses confidence of the reigning Prime Minister, they can vote on a No Confidence vote, which would cause the government to disband and general elections will be enacted to re-establish Parliament.

A win for workers, or government overreach?

Today Parliament has voted and passed the "Financial Security for the Workers" law, with the goal of providing:

  • Housing for every citizen
  • Food for every family
  • electricity for every household
  • A living wage

This law will force every employer to provide a wage that will cover the cost of living in an attempt to to force Corporations into paying their workers more for their work. To ensure smaller businesses have a chance to stay, The Chancellor and Under-Treasurer of Her Majesty's Exchequer will be creating a program to provide financial assistance to smaller business who cannot afford to pay a larger payroll. Any company who is viewed as having the ability to pay the larger payroll who refuse to increase their wages will be fined, forced to pay backpay and potential of the government seizing the Corporation to be reformed.

More cases pop up, now in Cambridge

Covid-19 has been confirmed in Cambridge, with 450 confirmed cases and 2,450 potential to be infected and awaiting for testing. The National Health Services has ordered all movements in Cambridge to be canceled, with the neighborhood with the cases to be cordoned off the streets, and an official quarantine will be in an effect. Military presence will be increased to protect the borders of the Cordon and entry and exit of this zone will be forbidden.
