An American Frigate  was on it's regular patrol duties in the south China sea when tragedy struck.
While the unsuspecting crew numbering 250 sailiors and 34 officers was having a grand time,finally getting ready to go home and be rotated with another fresh batch of sailors,it was attacked by a Vietnamese fleet in the area,a long naval chase ensued, with ANS Shark trying to escape the onslaught,and even though ANS Shark fought bravely and sank a Vietnamese submarine, the crew paid the ultimate sacrifice, and ANS Shark was destroyed.Backup from an American fleet Arrived,and a naval skirmish ensued,with the American ships fighting the Vietnamese ones,and after 5 intense hours of fire and fury,the latter's fleet of 5 frigates, 3 submarines,and 1 battleship were utterly destroyed, with 250 Vietnamese crew members being rescued and shortly thereafter captured by American forces.
A press conference was called and the newly President gave a strong speech condemning the actions of Vietnam,promising "prompt and complete" retaliation by the American Commonwealth.
An Emperor class aircraft carrier along with a classified amount of ships have been sent to the South China sea awaiting further orders.
