Greater Nalydian Uranian and Neptunian Territory

Grazhni Yamsi, Oberon - Capital of Colony Natynozh

The city rises out of the gray-brown Oberonian surface and reaches into the distant void with a practiced air of Pordic certainty. Tall walls surround the metropolis and wide streets carry traffic to and from it but they all converge and surround a single structure located perfectly central: the Oberonian Palatial Villa. Built originally to serve as meeting place for the leadership of the Pords of the Uranian and Neptunian Systems, it now serves as the overall meeting place for all of Colony Natynozh's leadership; with the agreement that the moon is to serve as the capital of the Pordish holdings in the PW-1 universe, its purpose was never in doubt. In orbit a single warship powers away from the moon's gravity well (tweaked to be similar to Nalydya's gravity but only within local vicinity of the moon as to no overly disturb its orbit or the overall Uranian System. All the inhabited moons have similar set-ups, and accompanying them are tiny wisps of atmospheres which be seen flicking through the void...) to take up position at a gravitic quay currently in orbit around Uranus proper; upon docking a shuttle is loosed from its hangar bay and zooms down to Oberon; it lands without issue and from it a number of Pords emerge: High Hunter Nykat and his entourage.

High Hunter Nykat walks out onto the tarmac and is greeted by High Hunter Cholnaq nam-Talzhyn, the representative of the Greater Nalydian Uranian and Neptunian Territories. After a number of bows and the usual exchange of greetings and pleasantries, they begin to move away from the spaceport and to the waiting vehicles at the curb...

I assume you spoke with the others in Iceland? nam-Talzhyn questions.

I did, Nykat answers. After explaining the situation most of them have come to agree with our assessment - that Oberon is the best place to have our capital.

nam-Talzhyn nods. I see, the High Hunter says. He steps onto the curb and motions to his aid to prepare the vehicle.

I've come to take a look over this city myself, Nykat admits. I've not yet had the opportunity.

There's always something that needs to be done, nam-Talzhyn agrees. We've just about completed the city, he continues. There are still a few construction crews around, but mostly they've moved on to work on other towns and cities across Oberon.

Nykat steps into the vehicle and looks out at the traffic passing by them. He notes that nam-Talzhyn is correct - they are of the civilian type and the horrendous forms of industrial movers or other such equipment are nowhere to be seen... Mostly. Off in the distance he can still just about make out the shapes of cranes towering above the city walls, but they are the only obvious egregious offenders.

This city looks nice. It will serve well as our capital, he says.

Take us through the city, nam-Talzhyn says to his aid-now-turned-driver.

Tasi, tasinehdao! the aid acquiesces.

They pull out and merge into the flow of traffic. Nykat notices the relative smoothness of the road beneath them; most of Nalydya's roads are kept impeccably smooth (they are crafted from ice-bricks, after all), but here these roads have a... New quality that most others cannot match. Even the famed boulevards and avenues of Tnem-Fragg cannot match them. He nods to himself in approval and turns his attention to the buildings rising out of the dirt around him.

There isn't much to see here in the spaceport district, nam-Talzhyn says. We aren't far from the Palatial Villa though, he says.

Again Nykat nods. The buildings lining the road are of a respectable height - they are all built just shy of one hundred meters and are tier towers; their bases are crafted from large stone slabs while the main structures are formed form ice bricks much like the roads (although these are of a different mixture than the road bricks - the road bricks prioritize traction while those making up the buildings are mixed with strength in mind).

The spaceport doesn't seem to be of the highest capacity, High Hunter Nykat notes.

nam-Talzhyn shrugs. We do have the orbitals. I don't imagine we'll need a high capacity spaceport here.

Might be wise to put some more local gravitic quays around here then, perhaps, Nykat suggests.

We might, nam-Talzhyn agrees.

The vehicle arrives at the walls surrounding the Palatial Villa complex. Guards atop them carrying rifles (not tridents as found elsewhere, unfortunately) eye them as they near and then with a few flowing movements they bring down the gates to allow them entrance. nam-Talzhyn's aid drives in through the walls and turns to follow the road; the path gives way to a raised thoroughfare built for foot traffic which leads into the main doors of the complex. Here the aid stops and the two High Hunters exit. nam-Talzhyn thanks his aid and he drives off to park the vehicle elsewhere while nam-Talzhyn and High Hunter Nykat distance themselves from the road as they begin to walk towards the Villa proper.

We will be having a ceremony here soon commemorating the establishment of our capital here, nam-Talzhyn says.

You have it planned already?

Of course - I didn't really think your people would disagree to the suggestion.

High Hunter Nykat shrugs. Sure. When is the ceremony?

In five rotations. It'll be hosted at noon after Nyzhötnu, Nykat's fellow High Hunter says. We plan on having elements of the Colonial ZJR in display as well as elements of nam-Kalzhak's fleet.

Nykat raises an eyebrow. nam-Kalzhak actually agreed to participate?

He did, nam-Talzhyn says. He moves one leg after the other to ascend the stairs. He said that the vessels could use a stretch.

Nykat lowers his eyebrow. How many of his ships will be participating? High Hunter Nykat opens the tall doors and enters the Palatial Villa; he holds the door open for nam-Talzhyn who walks in behind him.

A few of his battleships wings, nam-Talzhyn says. He shuts the door and leaves the chilly Oberon air behind him. Nothing too extravagant.

It should be a good ceremony then, Nykat says. I look forward to attending.

Naturally, nam-Talzhyn agrees.

The two move deeper into the Palatial Villa; Nykat reviews the various chambers to ensure that they are ready and prepared to serve the myriad Hunters and High Hunters of Colony Natynozh. Overall he finds himself pleased with the finishings and accouterments. As they move from room to room, he questions nam-Talzhyn on the specifics of the upcoming ceremony and nam-Talzhyn is happy to oblige him with the information. In totality, the review takes some fifteen minutes; by the end High Hunter Nykat is more than pleased and takes his leave. It will soon be time to officially announce to all of Colony Natynozh that a capital has been decided on. With both nam-Kalanoq and High Hunter Kolytaq already having given their approval of the choice, all that remains now is to contact them with the information that everything on High Hunter Nykat's end has been cleared up and that with the majority supporting Oberon's glistening Grazhni Yamsi, the city of that great Natynozh has effectively become the capital.

Bolshoi of the Seven: Act II

Grazhni Yamsi, Oberon

The massive ring-gate between the orbits of Neptune and Uranus are graced with the presence of a small detachment of VRZ warships; leading the pack is a respectably small Yamsi Natynozh type rift cruiser. Following on its heels are the much larger bulks of two lumbering nam-Kyzhaq type monitors and their vast clouds of escorting and attendant warships. They move in concert and are soon arrived over Uranus. Behind them lagging by some twenty minutes are sixteen capital ships: Chorzhalb Zhyssian types and Grazhni Yamsai types - two battleship wings that are part of Admiral nam-Kalzhak's Division. They have been painted with Amaterasu Campaign camouflage and travel in very loose order; between the major components are tens of thousands of kilometers of mostly empty space (between the capital ships, at least. The sixteen ships are themselves accompanied by, in standard Nalydian fashion, a vast array of smaller ships which orbit the larger ones at very close distance).

Glad to see this colony is progressing at a good rate, Admiral Klovnazh Kazhanye says. He is sat with the members of the Colony Natynozh High Hunter Council at their primary meeting table inside of the Grazhni Yamsi Palatial Villa. He is the highest ranking VRZ officer to visit Colony Natynozh since it was established; his presence is proof they have succeeded in crafting a viable colony. With Kazhanye are many members of the Colonial VRZ and ZJR, including his subordinate and divisional commander Admiral nam-Kalzhak.

Admiral nam-Kalzhak nods. The High Hunters have done a good job of overseeing its establishment, Admiral. Fortunately, we haven't had much in the way of complications here. The locals seem to be rather primitive.

Kazhanye chuckles. He had been the commanders of the first major Pordish assault against Kira's Kingdom back during the Barlat-Laptev War. Kazhanye, along with detachments from nearly half a dozen other Laptev powers, penetrated into the outer Kiran defenses a few light-years away from their capital system of Amaterasu but were eventually beaten back by the volume of defensive fire visited upon them. To this day he still regrets the decision to withdraw, but there was little that could have been done about it then. None of the fleets present were in a position to conduct a long, protracted siege - not with the resource sinks that the other theatres were rapidly becoming; tens of thousands of Pords died in the interdiction fields and nothing had been accomplished.

We will be beginning soon, Kazhanye notes, but that is good to hear. I assume then that you won't be needing the assistance of any other divisions?

No, Admiral, I don't think that will be necessary, nam-Kalzhak replies.

Just as well. Murdoch isn't the biggest supporter of our transuniversal foray in this realm.

I don't blame him, Nykat replies.

Of course, in High Admiral Murdoch's defense, the majority of other realms the Pords have stumbled across have not been the most stable or amenable to long term habitation. consequently, they (more often than not) end up serving only as bottomless holes in which his warships get sucked with little benefit in return. The most spectacular of these failures was the Yamsai'an colony in the BB-1 universe which ended up swallowing an entire fleet when the universe disappeared from the multiverse. Following the loss of contact with them, Murdoch refused to speak with the Yamsai'an Hunters for nearly a year.

But that is neither here nor now.

At the head of the table High Hunter Nykat stands: We are gathered here today to mark and celebrate a momentous occasion, the High Hunter begins. We have been afforded the opportunity through the grace of the Winter-Bringer himself to establish here on this chilly Uranian moon a capital city in the honour of the late Hunter-General Yamsi Natynozh. This would not have been possible without the hard work that High Hunters nam-Talzhyn, Kolytaq, Kalanoq and myself have put forth in overseeing the coordination of space and ground assets.

Outside, the loud boom! of heavy artillery can be heard as large pieces bark in rapid and coordinated succession - twelve total - effectively beginning the celebration. Nykat pauses to allow them to pass, and then continues:

As part of our celebration, the ZJR and VRZ have prepared displays for us to begin our festivities. These will be recorded and broadcast to the greater nation for their viewing. Following their completion, we will return here for food and then discuss the more intricate details and ramifications of having our capital here. He motions to the door; the various Hunters and officials stand and begin moving towards it.

If you will excuse me, Admiral, nam-Kalzhak says to his superiour. I will be leading my formations personally.

Kazhanye returns nam-Kalzhak's salute. Very well, he says.

Along one of the main thoroughfares through the city, a long column of blue-clad infantrymen march with deliberate pace. Their bayonets are fixed and their breastplates are firmly affixed to their torsos. Interspersed within them are vehicles of varying size and role, but they have one trait in common - they all hover yet oddly are still equipped with tracks which appear to splay out to their sides. Thick coats of Pordic Gray paint adorn them and turquoise tridents mark them as ZJR. A few even sport small ZJR flags which fly from small poles. These tiny standards mirror the larger standards carried by the dedicated bearers within the infantry; they march with the colours of Imperial Nalydya, the ZJR, the VRZ, and even the Great House of Natynozh. This infantry-vehicle mixture marks the bulk of the formation, with the composition only changing towards the end: heading up the rear of the formation are Pords riding older Yünak RPCs: Chrühov. These caped light infantry are the last to pass the Palatial Villa and with their passing the column comes to an end.

With the completion of the ground portion, in orbit, nam-Kalzhak's warships begin to power up to a full combat footing. Their Arrays link and their energy output surges to ridiculous levels; within moments the two vessel-groupings (each with eight capital ships) become consumed within vast charcoal tinted spheres. The nearest ships pass some five light seconds away from the most distant Uranian moon, Ferdinand. The lead ship in the formation, the VRZ Virulent Altocumulous, a Grazhni Yamsai type dreadnought, is first to begin. It angles its bows and the ships behind her follow her lead. A minute passes. Then the massive blister turrets erupt with a wild cacophony of fire as gargantuan rounds are loosed off into the void at perfect angles relative to Oberon and the sun to allow the dim light to glint perfectly off of the shells (which then artificially boost the intensity) and give them an ethereal glow (as viewed from Oberon) as they streak through the darkness. One salvo is given; the Altocumulous then falls silent only for the next ship in the line to open up. And then the next ship. And the ship after that.

High Hunter Nykat watches the Oberon sky light up with artillery fire as nam-Kalzhak's Division unleashes torrents of hate upon the fabrics of space and time. The bright streaks of crimson zoom past the moon and are soon gone off into the distant black. It is a short, if well choreographed display. Thus it comes as no surprise when his communicator beeps to notify him that the orbital section has been completed and it is time to return to the Palatial Villa to begin actual work. Fleshing out all that which a capital needs will not be an easy task, but it is a necessary one, and he is confident that all of the members of the Colony Natynozh High Hunter Council are more than capable of completing it.

An impressive display from Admiral nam-Kalzhak, Nykat says to the others with him on the viewing platform. They nod in agreement. Now we have work to do, he says stepping down and towards the entrance. Behind him the others follow.
