If you're going to war, you do it listening to the William Tell Overture.

I'm breaking this off from the annoucement thread, and this could in theory also go into the suggestions subgroup but I'll let the mods decide where to finally put it.
There has been some major changes to how military upkeep works, and I like what I'm seeing. Stationing massive amounts of soldiers should NOT be cheap as war should be expensive as hell to wage. Food upkeep was added, which is awesome and now the question of troops using munitions is also on the table. I understand sheepy doesn't want to make the system too complex but think about it this way. Troops need to use ammo not only in war, but for training. I think that a certain number of munitions/day for basic upkeep would be a way to keep it realistic while still being cheap enough to maintain a small defense force when not in war.
When in war, it would again add to the overall cost of doing battle. I think I saw a suggestion of 1-2 munitions per GA for ground, scaling up with armor/air/ships.
Requiring munitions in peace time would again put a focus on internal management of alliance resources, specialization, and an expansion of the current marketplace. This is especially true in wartime as an alliance with mercantile ambitions could make a tidy profit selling arms to both sides.
Thoughts?

Sheepy needs to reset everyones soldier counts or something, because people still have 100k armies with only 3 cities lol
-
Jon Snow gets what I'm saying. Emily Thorne, I'm aware of what tanks do but I'm suggesting a different ratio than a simple 1 tank = x troops conversion.
-
mmm not sure about that sheepy. Why would you need to buy tanks when you can just produce more troops for far less cost? What I'm saying is that if you use a simple multiplier like 1 tank=10 troops, in theory the 10 troops are far cheaper an easier to maintain and use. Why would you even bother with tanks themselves? Is there a way to make tanks a sort of force multiplier for your entire army instead of tying them directly into a static strength ratio?

Armies should require munitions as well.

It is broken. If you can rebuy to the same amount every day, the only way someone wins a war is if the other guy runs out of cash. It will always be X troops/barracks vs Y troops/barracks. That can be 100,000 vs 15,000 or 100,000 vs 100,000.
Cash is essentially the lynch pin of wars now. But since you can decom troops instantly and rebuy them instantly once you've collected, there's 0 penalty for decomming, collecting (a now positive collection), then rebuying. This guarantees a stalemate so long as both players are active enough to rebuy, since no one will ever run out of cash to the point where they can't rebuy ridiculous amounts of troops instantly.
Lastly, looting will rarely if ever happen now, since it is so incredibly hard to destroy an active person's troops to the point where you get the battle superiority position.
You can only decomm the troops after collecting not before so theres still cash loss
way to pick the one mostly irrelevant point of this whole !@#$ session

the 1% per day buildup WAS an effective (and realistic) cap.

Exactly. The war system as it is, is broken as !@#$. You can literally buy a retarded huge army in a single click and live off of nothing but raiding quite comfortably.
-
You ordered a ground attack upon the nation of Blizzard Island led by Blurrenza. The attack was an immense triumph. Your forces lost 0 soldiers and 0 tanks, while Blurrenza's defenders lost 0 soldiers and 0 tanks. The attack destroyed 18.48 infrastructure in the city of Rotaville and 0 improvements. You stole $318,544.98 in the attack.

Of course its an argument. Everyone will eventually have a stockpile of money onhand. It's called a warchest. When you can buy an entire army in a single click you're doing the game wrong.

Get velo and the minister of aesthetics back on here

We have a permanent position in the top 10 ranking
Chances are good that if you don't already know who or what we are, PC probably isn't the best place for you. Therefore lots of wall-o-text information is hardly necessary. As for your one hint, you linked to our cybernations government, not our PnW one.

Maybe it's time to tread down a more... unjust path? Apply to Poison Clan today!

I think that making war prohibitively expensive to wage will offer a better deterrant than simply having peace mode.
-
I think an alliance wide message board would be far more useful, like the one that was implemented in Cybernations some months ago.
