I demand that these modes actually get a name and will not be called "nodes." With this demand I must ask if these are to be political centers, resource centers or financial centers etc.?

I think that the muti-page system is better for the ultimate goal of more diverse unit types.

I like Patton Day Spa.

First of all, an easier solution to this topis would be to auto-combine any trade offers that have the same offering nation and the same price.
Secondly, for blockades, you could have a 'blacklist' onto which each alliance could add x names in correspondence to the percentage of the overall number of nations they have.

Actually, maybe a randomly assigned biome would be better, since cities are normally built where it's advisable and not really where people 'want'.

There could be color bonuses for an Alliance vs. continent bonuses for Religions?
-
You could also create a completely independent biome map for the pictures.

Luckily, there is already a plan in the pipes for the introduction of player-made banks.

As for new nations,
You could also baby-step the process to allow them only to borrow from the game at xxx-xxx range and only at certain incrememnts, so nations can get a feel for how the debt system works.
Then, on good behavior they will ultimately get a high enough score to join publicly traded debt or borrow more.
We'd probably need a bankruptcy system, under which your nation would probably sorta reset.

I see no reason to do either/or when we could do both. Nation's can borrow from one another or the game, with different interest rates to incentivize purchasing riskier monies. As for enforcement, you could create a number of options for that and call them "terms". You could (1) choose collateral (military, infrastructure, land etc.) which would be sold off in the case of a failure to pay, (2) set an expiration date if you would like, (3) or other such terms of the loan.

You could prevent the declaration of war between nations of the same faith as well, which would give it a but more influence. The trouble with any plan is that Alliances would probably create alliance religions.

I think y'all have valid points, points worth considering. On the other hand, I think that this ignores some of the implementable realities of war.
I'm not sure, but methinks that the Alliance Bonus update might help to solve this problem.

In the real world, people die and entire countries are completely destroyed by war, so I for one think that the "war shouldn't be that bad" argument is pretty pointless. If anything, we should make war much worse and then balance it out with restrictions on how and why wars are waged.

I understand that resource limitation is a fundemental part of the game and that without it, we'd have a broken system. However, I think that many nations wouldn't bother to go through appropriate channels to get the resources they need. Many countries, both historically and presently, have established colonies from which they can glean resources, which I think would be a great addition to the game. When nations fight each other, if it were possible to seize land, then it would technically be possible to also build resource extractors on that land. The suggestion being that once x amount of land has been conquered from a nation is Asia, then x number of extractors can be built via a pseudo-city screen for a colony gained when fighting in a war.
This would also affect the war system pretty drastically since attackers would need to choose between attacking colonies and mainland contries. Defenders on the other hand would need to garrison theur colonies, thus leaving their homelands more vulnerable. I think that this could work in a pretty balanced way.

Easy, but I think it might improve things.
