For me, it was the moment I found out that Rose's allies weren't prepared to counter when Rose hit Mensa in 168 Day and got hit by tS, TKR, tC, etc almost immediately. "SHIT"

It's hard to put one event over another. Partisan stepping down is a big one, Paragone is another that really marks the end of an era of allies. Treasure Island isn't all that big in the grand scheme, it's much more related to the pixels than the politics. Valyria sphere could be up there. But tbh I would have to say that the defining moment of 2016 was Rose's blitz and declaration on TKR and Guardian. If ever I have seen a nail in the coffin, that was it. The absolute total assertion of the Syndi-OO hegemoney. Not that it wasn't evident prior to Silent, but since that point the question of toppling the hegemoney was no longer seen as achievable by outside pressure, and if it were to ever happen it wouldn't be because of the actions of Paracov or anyone else, it is now widely accepted that it can only end if and when Syndi-OO will it to.
I would say that the start of The Silent War is the definitive moment of 2016.

A few days ago, in a town not to far away. There was a mystical land where the sun shined and meadows bloomed. A raccoon tried to buy a pizza, but the raccoon sniffing broom bots attacked it. Fortunately, the Hammer Knights arrived in time to subdue the broom bots. Unfourtanelty for the Hammer Knights, Kim Jong-Un made a MEGA BEOOM BOT which was 23.5 times as strong as a normal Broom Bot. Luckily, the Hammer Knights were able to subdue it, but they lost many people to it. The raccoon, traumatised by this ordeal, returns to his residence (a trash can) and tries to sleep, but is haunted by nightmares of the Mega Broom Bots.

So two world wars have happened, NPO's First Time and Silent War. As far as who's on who's side, more or less the same for NPOFT, but for Silent Rose dropped all their treaties.
GPA ended their alliance, created a new group called Commonwealth.
Valyria have a budding new sphere, which just saw Order of Storms (a group of former BoC members) join.

They need to shape up and start getting serious about things. It's not impossible, but once GoS start dealing with other major alliances they will quickly realise that being a bully and showing off about it doesn't get you very far.
