t$ hasn't made an announcement yet.
There are nominees missing from multiple categories tho. Sorry Kastor. Thank you for doing this, but I think the poll needs to be redone. There's still time.
EDIT: I'll hold off on making an announcement

Haha What does it mean to be the "worst poster"? You're already making me laugh. That can't be good.

^ this, so much!I feel like the bad leader category is clogged up with people who are good leaders but didn't win.
For example, Roq (hi Roq, hope you don't mind the namedrop) is not at all a bad leader. He works hard and from all outward appearance his moves are representative of what his membership wants to do.
I think that category is being coupled with "political success" in a way that doesn't have too much to do with leadership. Good leaders can lose. It's often harder to do that than winning.
And definitely this one!! https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16544-test-declaration-of-war/#entry278287Best threads/DoW of the year:

Hi Jerry. We buy our treasures for hundreds of millions apiece depending on how many days remain before they expire. The numbers get up into the billions very quickly. When TI closes the money will be distributed to compensate those who paid up-front for the treasures.First off, how in the hell did setting up Treasure Island cost "billions and billions" in up front costs?
Secondly, here we are........30 some odd posts after I asked my question........
"WHO THE !@#$ GETS TO KEEP THE TI BANK WHEN THIS SHIT CLOSES DOWN?"
20% was our tax rate long before we decided to open TI to the public. We kept it the same because we think it's fair given how much money and effort went into creating this opportunity for everyone.Either way 20% as a tax rate is a bit high why not go lower like 10% you'll still make billions!
Keep in mind the TI set-up costs have to come out of the TI share.I'm curious how you calculate that? I was admittedly tired when I ran the math on my nation last night but this is what I got.
PRE-TI
Gross Income: $6,371,046.25
Bills: 1,945,450.00
Net: 4425596.25
Post TI:
Gross Income: 8537201.975
Bills: 1,945,450.00
Net pre tax: 6591751.975
Tax paid to TI: 1318350.395
Net Post tax: 5273401.58
Post TI net - PRE TI Net = 847805.33
I make an additional ~850k and TI makes 1.3mil. Scale it up and if I made 1mil they would make 1.5mil at that ratio.
Now if I was basing my pre-TI income on what I take after I pay SK taxes, it would be ~3.7mil for that, netting me a gain post TI of 1.5mil. But I am not just one nation. I am part of an alliance and what I do is for the good of myself and my alliance, whose taxes go to help aid my smaller members. So if I look at just the extra money in my nation, sure I take home an additional 1.5mil and TI takes home 1.3mil. But if we consider the extra money in SK as a whole (my pre-tax current income and my post TI income, or by taking the difference of what i pay SK now and what I would pay them based on our tax rate * my post TI tax TI income) its only the 850k, and we as an alliance end up taking a fair chunk less than TI do. So any alliances who send their nations to TI at this point (excluding the original member alliances who share the bank) will, as I have said earlier, absolutely see good boost in income, but they will be giving TI an even greater boost.
So once again the question is, for those considering this proposal, is it worth it for your alliance to gain bonus income at the cost of giving TI even greater income for you joining? Maybe yes, maybe no. I think it will be a good opportunity for some and not so much for others.
Otherwise your math looks good. Your relatively low expenses work against you a bit. My expenses are 2,874,615 and I only have 3 more cities than you. Why are yours so low? Oh cuz you run a farm build... that makes sense. The benefits of the island increase as your expenses increase.
You make a good point tho. For an alliance who makes it their goal to hurt us financially, even at the cost of their own growth, I can definitely understand their reluctance to collaborate with us econ-wise. For everyone else this will be a win-win and tons of free growth. And those alliances who don't like us will always be welcome to come work with us whenever they wish.

We buy them from the alliances who hold them, and they give us the treasure. A single treasure costs hundred of millions of dollars, so the up-front investment is substantial. And the alliances we buy from also benefit since we give them more than they would have gotten from the treasure bonus.I'm a noob how do you buy a treasure?
-
That tax doesn't get you an income boost. The 34% gross income boost gets you a roughly 50% net income boost. The taxes are deducted after that to help pay for the cost of purchasing treasures. You keep the remainder. That's your profit.I'm confused how a 34% boost and a 20% tax gets you to a 50% income boost?

I would like to sincerely apologize. This rollout could have been handled a lot better.
The mass PM was wrong and should never have happened. The correct thing to do would have been to PM alliance leaders directly and work with them on collaborating on the project. It was never my intention to poach anyone's members. I have never and will never do that. To everyone who received that message please accept my humble apology. It will never happen again. And I will remove any nation from TI who does not have their alliance's permission.
I'd also like to apologize to the rest of t$ leadership. The decision to send PMs was mine and mine alone and is a reflection of my inexperience in FA and me venturing out into the broader community for the first time since I started playing nation sims 11 years ago (this is my 1st thread ever).
My hope for the Treasure Island project was to create something that the community could eventually come together and collaborate on that wasn't destroying each other over and over again. When I look at TI I see our first, and maybe last, chance to do something positive together, on a scale I've never seen before in a game like this.
The truth is TI is not a trick. The bonus is very large, but it wasn't free. A lot of hard work and passion and billions of dollars went into creating it (billions of dollars that went to smaller alliances to help new nations grow).
Please allow me the chance to clear up a few things...
I would never poach another alliance's members. Nations on TI are not members of TI. Each nation on TI is free to come and go as they please and is always considered a member of whatever alliance they came from. And when TI disbands on Dec 20th everyone will go home to their real alliance.
The 20% tax is not meant to cheat anyone. Billions of dollars of up-front investment went into making TI possible, and the taxes are merely a way to share the cost, as well as the benefits.
Guests on the island actually benefit more than TI does. It's important to understand that the 34% gross income bonus applies to GROSS income, not NET. That's a very important distinction. It means the true income bonus is actually far greater than 34%. For example, if my GROSS income is $10,000,000 and my expenses are $4,000,000 then my NET income is $6,000,000, right? Well... on TI my GROSS income goes up to $13,400,000, but my expenses stay the same, so my NET income on TI is $9,400,000. That's a 57% increase! Taxes are taken from that, and the money goes towards treasures.
There are no tricks or gimmicks. Everyone pays for the treasures, and everyone gets a boost. Guests pay 20% for the treasures and get a 57% income boost, more or less depending on their expenses.
The announcement was meant to be entertaining and on-theme, but obviously more forthright explaination was needed. I didn't write most of the language, but I did do the graphics. Yes, Max, I suck at graphics. I knew that. Thank you. lol
Again, I'm truly sorry for the confusion, everyone, especially for the mass PM. This was my first time presenting something to the PW community. It has been a learning experience for me. And I really hope this turns out to be a good thing, and everyone walks away with a positive experience.
Thanks
_jess

The wars API is only showing expired wars. I hope that's temporary.
A new API that only shows all active wars (not just the last 1999) would make my day.

I don't doubt NPO's intentions or sincerity. Regardless of anything else, you are a formidable community with talented, hard-working leadership and a competitive strategy, and I respect that a lot. Never give up. We game on.

The bottom line is the mechanic is not working as intended, nor is it working well. That alone warrants an update or removal of the mechanic. If reps fill the gap, then so be it. At least we won't have to shuffle banks around during war and punish alliances who don't do it.
- 2
-
I agree. Mechanic needs to get fixed, or replaced with something else (like control points )
-
Yes! That is awesome.

Very well fought. Congrats on a rest well earned. I've been on the opposing side from VE in multiple wars now, and they're always an opponent you need to take seriously. Much respect, and good luck with your rebuild.

Fortress would have given us only 2 hours to respond. If our opponents lead with ground, we would still have 100% of our jets, and our low score profile would give us a 2-3 city advantage. When we down-declare we get a 6-8 city advantage.Oh as an attacking strategy sure it can work great, to be fair I wasnt paying attention and didn't see you guys actually hit first this war I thought it was claimed as a defense strategy. Should you get caught unawares ever, even being lower tier because of the lack of ground, a single ga followed by a single dogfight would be a big problem. But yeah if you guys can maintain this miraculous spate of no one on the opposing side being able to keep any kind of opsec you'll be grand.
I just worry for the strat if it went up an alliance that could blitz.
2 hours is a very small window to get everyone online to counter. It would be a lot of pressure on us to capitalize on our jet advantage before they could hit again. That was the plan.

Resolving the wars of deleted nations as defeats in ascending order by resistance then by declare datetime makes sense to me. No need to frustrate the players who stay and keep playing imo.
