  1. If you don't want people to post responses in there, surely it's better to make it more obvious, thus reducing the need for warnings and moderation. Helps keep the place nice and controlled. Also makes any warnings seem more justifiable.

If they'd prefer to leave it as it is (ignoring the possibility that there is no option or mod available for now) then they really can't be that bothered that people are posting in there in the first place. So why warn them?

Because there are clear and explicit rules pinned at the top of the forum and it is the user's responsibility to read them and abide by them. It's really not that complicated.

  2. No option, or mod, that I'm aware of exists for that in IPB. Still, I think it's a bit extreme to need your hand held to that degree. I can see how it would be nice to have it in your face, but the user has to take some responsibility for reading and understanding the rules, and maintain an awareness for where they're posting. I've been a part of several gaming communities over the years where this doesn't seem to be an issue. No reason it should be an issue here, either.

  3. It's pretty deep. Well thought out response above. Ultimately, whether it made sense or not, I wasn't happy with the ending. Very entertained throughout and definitely thought provoking, but disappointed with the end.

  4. Also, to answer your question, member is unimportant in the sense that members have no real job.

Quote of the year. You should probably pack it up and call it a day. Your alliance doesn't stand a chance.

  5. Nice selection on the theme.  Until now, I've always used the default IPB theme here because I never cared for any of the custom themes.  This one is modern and easy on the eyes.  For what it's worth, there should be an option to disable the text logo and insert your Politics & War Forums image banner if you prefer it.  Great theme, though.

  6. One month since the opening post and I'm pleased to announce we're still around...and getting better.  Ragnar has done a lot to grow the PC gaming community, particularly in games like War Thunder and Minecraft.  I've spent my free time continuing to develop the site and now it's time to focus on growing the console side of things.  We're open to gamers interested in any games, but I want to focus on building a player base for Destiny and CoD.  Other games we feature are GTA V (all platforms), Battlefield 4 and BF: Hardline, the upcoming Payday 2 (for Xbox One and PS4), and whatever else there could be a demand for...think Star Wars: Battlefront later this year. :)

So, anyone here interested in joining up with a gaming clan, come by and check us out.

  7. Finished the first season. Wilson Fisk is the main attraction for me. They're doing good things with developing the Kingpin. Not a fan of the DD costume, primarily the mask. Say what you will about Affleck's Daredevil, but they captured the costume brilliantly in that film.

  8. Close to a month ago, Ragnar and I went to work on setting up a new gaming website.  We've both toyed in this area before with IPB forums, which isn't bad, but this is something much better.  Using an Enjin website, we've created something closer to an actual site, rather than just a forum.  It's a work in progress.  I'm new to Enjin and it has a lot of potential, but I'm getting my feet wet.

Currently, we have 26 members.  Most of these are PC gamers that Ragnar recruited.  We have servers for Minecraft and TeamSpeak included, as well.  He has a group that plays War Thunder on a regular basis.  But, let me tell you more about us and our target audience.

In the forum, we have forums for featured games (those we're trying to build groups around) such as Destiny, CoD, GTA V, War Thunder, and Minecraft.  Then we have game lobbies for discussion pertaining to gaming in general, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and PC.  The entertainment lobby is for general discusison of movies, film, etc.  In the Member Lounge, you can talk about just about anything that's not covered by one of these other categories.  Advanced Members (50+ posts) will have access to the Secret Stash forum where we will occassionaly hold contests, raffles, prize giveaways, etc.

On the home page, you'll find a welcome message, featured youtube video/game trailer, IGN rss news feed, and link to our Steam group.  The format may get shuffled from time to time, but we're finding our niche.  Right now, our gaming focus is on casual/social.  We may consider setting up competitive divisions in the future for games like CoD and Destiny.  If that happens, it won't affect members who are just looking for others to have some fun with.  In other words, you won't be required to be a competitive gamer to find other members to game with.

If you like playing games and want a dedicated place to hang out with others who have common interests, and find friends to game with, give us a try.  We're at vanguardclan.net.  If you don't already have an enjin account, you can register and fill out an app for membership at our site.

  9. And rules can be debated in an open society.  That's how life works.

I am interested in your scientific polling data on this issue.

You must have missed the part where I said it's already been debated and ruled on.  I don't know how, seeing as you quoted me.  I'm sorry you weren't around for it, but it doesn't change the fact that it happened and that continuing on about is equivalent to beating a dead horse.  If you like to argue for the sake of arguing, or one of those who can't concede that you're not always right, by all means, carry on.  It won't change Sheepy's decision, though.  You might try just respecting the ruling he made on it and move along.  Wait for a new issue to pop up that is still debatable and jump back in.

  10. Blindly following rules without questioning them is one level of maturity.

It's not blindly following.  The issue has been debated and ruled on.  The majority of the community has no issue with it.  The ones that do are free to go elsewhere, or either accept the fact that they can't have every aspect of the game their way and keep playing.  That's how life works.

  11. You sound like an irritated person with a chip on your shoulder who will most likely criticize whatever your alliance leadership does and assume you can do it better. You're nitpicky. Afterall, who says you can't have a themed alliance and still have competent, inspiring leadership? You got some problem with creativity or is "bland" just your style? Alliances need competent leadership and vision, but they also need dedicated members who share their vision and values, and their presence can strengthen the alliance. Are you worthy of an alliance or you just gonna sit on your ass asking the world who can do the most for you? If I were leading the type of alliance you claim to be looking for, the title of your thread and tone in your posts would be enough to reject your application.

  12. How long will you be around this time mate?

Eh, I'm planning to stick around to hang with my friends. Not planning on starting any alliance or being terribly active, though.  2 months off was a nice break and I never rule out any possibilities, but for now all I can say is that I'm here for my buds, not for politics.

  13. If you're wanting to branch out, google political sims and see what you come up with.  I haven't found much of anything worth a damn out there.  PW is the most entertaining game of this kind I've come across in a while.

  14.  See that's why Grillick's War is so ironic and hilarious. In his campaign thread he didn't sell himself as a strategic leader who would one day lead his alliance to victory. He actually promised that he would get the GPA rolled. At the time, we all thought it was a funny joke and voted him in. Boy, were we wrong. Let the record show Grillick is a man of his word.

Looking at it this way, I support the name.

  15. Immortalizing the loser by naming the war after them just seems silly to me. I'm not sure why everyone is so obsessed with individuals rather than events.

Agreed. Calling it Grillick's War, to me at least, suggest that Grillick was the noble and strategic leader who led his alliance to victory....neither of which is the case.  I would call it the War of Attrition.

For those who need a definition:

    at·tri·tion
    əˈtriSH(ə)n/
    noun
    noun: attrition
    1.
the action or process of gradually reducing the strength or effectiveness of someone or something through sustained attack or pressure.
  16. It shouldnt be. Moderation is non discussion I posted this here because I wanted it to be discussed.

I use the word f--- in a very regular basis.

Actually the primary forum is open to discussion. You're free to use any language you like, just not here. This forum and this game are meant to be enjoyed by a larger audience. Filters are necessary to keep it "PG-13" and people posting reports is typically the result of filter evasion....such as posting a video with language in it that is filtered here.
