Rural North Carolina. I can positively identify that it's automatic fire and not just multiple guns firing. The spacing between the shots is extremely short but regular. I counted 10 rounds in a row last time, but this isn't a daily event. I hear it maybe once every one or two months. And, to my knowledge, a capable gunsmith could produce and install the necessary mechanism to automate an "assault weapon."

How would we enforce that? Are you proposing aggressive war? Just for a color?

Assault rifles ARE banned and have been since 1934. Doesn't stop them anyway. I occasionally hear full auto fire off in the distance when I'm on a walk. I don't think anybody gives a shit where I live.

Pretty much. The problem is that the difference between Red and Blue states is a lot like the difference between Coke and Pepsi. One might taste a bit better, but at the end of the day, they're both still rotting your teeth out. Well... both parties are doing a fine job. Just some high representatives of them don't. Also everyone can enter politics, so I think blaiming the DEMs and REPs for every little mistake isn't really fair. The voting system is designed to perpetuate the two-party system, though, thus drowning out any real voice of dissent. If party affiliation was removed from ballots, the entire political system would be revolutionized. People might actually start voting for alternative parties or independents.
