You accurately describe the law in most states here, but I question the legitimacy of this premise regardless. If an unarmed person enters your home without your permission, there is no reason this should mean s/he deserves to die. They COULD be armed. That is why we have CONCEALED CARRY. I didn't suggest at any point that I support Obama's POV on the 2nd Amendment (Hint: I don't). If you make IDs freely obtainable, then yes, this is OK. However, if these required IDs are not free, then it constitutes a poll tax and is thus unconstitutional in federal elections (via the 24th Amendment) and in state elections (via the 14th Amendment). I live in Texas, and it CAN turn blue if we don't require IDs to vote and increase boarder security. I might as well edit and say that requiring an ID to vote isn't discrimination, since we can all go get an ID. It may not be a drivers license, but just a photo ID that would work.
