Since I could still support it without negative incomes much higher than your numbers and it isn’t an exploit people can buy unlimited nukes & mines/farms don’t require power.

it's an exploit when you buy more nukes than your nation can pay for.

This is a stupid suggestion & pointless.

how is that constructive criticism? the hollowness of your opinion makes me question your intelligence in degrees your small mind can't process.

Next time you try to make a comment, do please attempt to sound older than 5.

Fraggle is an ex-NR member. She joined briefly a while back, and may be holding substantial parts of Poo's stash. We can't touch her because, first, the stash is in alliance bank, second, Fraggle has shittons of nukes.

we, the community can't touch that stash, but Alex will take care of it I am sure.

Props to that guy coming forward with that.

The bank stolen wasn't even that large, I wouldn't bother lifting a torch for that.

it was over 1 billion of spawned resources and money got from spawned resources. The amount generated doesn't matter, having done so through cheating does. So that should also be deleted if you truly want to be fair to the community.

Those resources weren't bought by someone else with legally obtained money or anything of the sort. It was part of the spawned and cheated ill gotten rss.

  5. I would also like the resources that Nova gov member took when he ran off to Not A Scam Credit Union LLC . There is no way of knowing if those are legit resources or just part of the spawn. So even if Nova Riata as an entity is not holding on to it. An ex Nova Riata gov member did run away with it and is going to benefit of it even after knowing of this matter.

If you know of a cheat and still decide to take a cut of it, that makes you an accesory and part of the cheat itself. Maybe not something as harsh as banning the guy because besides having the rss on him, he didn't get any benefit as far as I know. But definately also delete those.

    Greetings friends!

I just want everyone to know I did my part. While I was not aware of any wrong doing in my time at Nova, I felt the community would rest easier knowing that some of their wealth has been seized by operatives of Not A Scam LLC. and will be put towards building a successful, community oriented trading group. Stay tuned for details!

(don't worry, I changed it from Nation to Alliance before I sent it)

To my friends at Nova - I am sorry, but you got Fraggled.
I also want Orbis to know that I'm quite sure 99% of Nova had no idea this was going on, including the high gov. Our offshores and such were not discussed. Please go easy on them.

those resources and money should be confiscated by Alex and deleted. @Alex It would only be fair.

Otherwise, some players will still profit from the scam and compromise fair play.

Madoff ran the largest Ponzi scheme in the history of the United States. The hypothetical I mentioned did not occur, though.

Your issue then is the order the events took place in? You know I did already cover that it was weak of me not to restrain myself until after Alex had come in, in my response to SRD.

Seriously last post on this though, I think most people already knew I was a bit of a shady person to begin with, this isn't news.

then we agree that it was weak of you not to restrain to the blackmail and that you should have actually posted before the plot came to light and not after the fact :P .

And I must have missed that post of yours I guess. Too many pages.

    now seriously, good bye.

For example, Seb, if someone scammed Bernie Madoff and donated all the money to charities, would he be imprisoned? Sure, scams are illegal, but context and intent means the jury would almost certainly decide he was not guilty before the trial even began.

assuming Madoff is some rich dude... I would applaud that someone. But you are not Robin Hood Akuryo, and PW isn't a charitable enterprise. If you truly wanted to do good for the whole community you should have just come forth and told Alex before attempting to blackmail NR.

But he didn’t.  The intention was there, but it did not follow through.

While crappy in of itself, it is not equal to the damages done by those who did actually exploit.

All it means is that Akuryo’s character is questionable.

ok, maybe being the one to actually exploit the bug isn't as bad as being the one wanting to benefit from such exploits knowingly, but that makes him an acomplice of sorts.

anywayyyyy.............. I have a term exam to go to, don't burn PW before I come back!!!!!!!!! I want to watch the fireworks.

My problem with this line of logic is that it's too late for that.

If benefit and profit from an exploit is unavoidable (something we're about 75 billion lightyears beyond, mind you) i'd argue the world would be served best if as little of that profit reached the exploiters and instead reached the people they were utilizing these cheats against.

Though i suppose with the scale, that would be literally everyone, and so if done properly it would have been sent in bits and pieces to everyone.

Deletion of these resources would be best for the game, but i honestly don't expect alex to go tracking all of it, deleting it, compensating players so they don't riot over the unfairness, just to restore balance the best way. And a rollback of a month minimum, or even two, is not the greatest approach ever itself.

Bud, if you try to blackmail the person you think is the cheater into sharing part of his profits, that makes you an acomplice. How is that not guilty? You literally tried to exploit this bug by doing that.

If on the other hand you had just benefitted without knowing by just buying this resources, as you actually have, then no blame would fall on you.

Resources required to upkeep infrastructure I'm on board with; it accomplishes basically the same thing and is a much nicer user experience. But that's a topic for another thread. I just want to make a statement about this and nip it in the bud early.

Adding an extra cost to infraestructure could make it so costy than the peace periods would increase. Take into account peace periods are often calculated by the ROI from building infra vs income return. 2500 infra has an estimated ROI of 70 or 80 days so people tend to want to be at peace for a little longer than that in order to make a profit of it. If you make it more costy or if you add an upkeep you would systematically make the peace periods longer.

What you have to ask yourself is if you want wars to happen more often or not. If so, you need to reward wars instead penalizing growth. May I suggest a medal system? different sets of medals for war performance. Maybe a set of projects that only nations with a certain amount of war proficiency can acquire? If war had a reward that could potentially help you get an edge over the rest of the players, I am certain more would want to go for it.

My intent was not to attack the player-run financial system that has flourished, or criticize it. I think it's super cool and I'm really happy that it exists.

My point and reaction was based on the very passionate and, in my opinion, disrespectful comments that have been made, particularly by Akuryo both on the forum and on Discord. Some of the arguments against this proposal, I do not believe have been made in good faith and are really more about lobbying for a system that works for them than what is best for the game.

Thank you for clarifying that bit.

From my perspective, this changes will affect growth a little bit causing nations in the 20/30 range to grow up in a slower manner (like 20% slower) nations with 30+ nations won't find it very hard to compensate for that retroactive fee in raws and since income at that stage is pretty sustantial. The 30/40 city range is about as high as anyone will grow in the next couple years, so we might even see them freeze there and delay that payment for quite a long while.

As for disrupting the banking business, this can be an opportunity rather than an impediment. Banking was born because of the high priced cities and the huge excess of cash with nowhere viable to put it in. An increase in resource demand can lead to more players wanting to get into this black market that has developed lately where you can buy and sell big bulks of resources. Maybe a new generation of players can come forth and make their own raw trading depot and turn an otherwise ordinary change (no offense intended Alex) into another tool for money making and community building ;) .
