  1. I grew out of most anime, but what's still non-!@#$ (i.e, adult / non-commercial / lingering artistic value) these days?

Haibane Renmei was terribly sentimental, but had a good aesthetic. Paranoia Agent was wonderfully arthouse, loved Serial Experiments Lain, Akira is great, I should watch The Flowers of Evil.

I am still a hardcore fan of any anime Mamoru Oshii produces (I have a copy of Angel's Egg out of all things, and I literally spammed /d/ with the [non-sexual] egg-laying scene after a certain character commits suicide, it's some kind of surrealist anime about Mamoru Oshii losing his Christian faith, and after the suicide occurs, a bunch of tiny, small eggs rises out of the water), and I liked Miyazaki's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, as well as The Wind Rises.

Kino's Journey was terrible, especially with its repetitive closing scene, but it had a brutal charm.

  2. Which Haruhi? The one that moved to Mikuru, Soviet Haruhi who wanted the sex change, Haruhis on youtube, the Haruhi in the light novels, or the Haruhi in the anime? How about the Haruhi that existed in someone's individual perception, based on their life experiences as well as their experience with the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya franchise?

  3. If you want to game it, post interesting stuff in the Spam section and the Announcements section, because the post count won't increment there. My argument with Fox Fire, for instance, caused little damage to me but got him a lot of likes without increasing either of our post counts.

Also, how is this even possible? While I acknowledge I'm probably the least liked person on the forums, there are actually people with a lower like-post ratio than myself. Is this because my arguments mainly occurred in non-increment sections, or is it because there are actually people lower on the totem pole on this forum?

Inst is at ~22%, these people actually ahve a lower ratio than I do.

  4. Now, I'm an atheist for convenience, and if pressed, an agnostic, but...

"On 23 November 1654, Pascal had an intense religious vision and immediately recorded the experience in a brief note to himself, which began, â€œFire, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob, not of the philosophers and the scholars…†and concluded by quoting Psalm 119:16“I will not forget thy word. Amen""

    In reference to Blaise Pascal.

  5. Appreciated, but it's not needed. This community apparently likes its scapegoats and I don't want to drag other people into the mud with me. I know what I'm looking for, and I have the patience to get it. As I've said before, the trolls here are in general softcore compared to what I've seen before.

My only mistake is to lose my temper, of course, and to take the direct approach when it was not called for.

  6. Theoretically, sure. But China has a bunch of missiles pointed at Taiwanese, and if they were to miss, there would be heavy collateral damage. There is also the problem of the fact that Taiwan is substantially invested into Chinese factories, so that Taiwan, if the Chinese were to pull the plug, would be out of a huge chunk of change.

Taiwan is going to get, in all likelihood, a pro-independence party president in 2016. It'll be interesting to see the choices they're aiming for; they can try to provoke China and hope that they can call China's bluff on an invasion, or they can continue to develop cross-strait ties through triangulation, since there is no one further to the independence section than they are.

It's actually one of the hotspots for a future world war; Taiwan can become independent, but it can't win a war due to the massive collateral damage involved. It only works out for Taiwan if the Chinese opt to slap sanctions, then come back later, which is doable provided their economy doesn't collapse.

  7. I interpreted it as players get credits based on good behaviour. At least that made some sense... That is even more dumb than what i thought

P.S. Play the !@#$ game before you ask Sheepy to change it! There is nothing that benefits from this suggestion, and the game still works w/o it.

The moderation system on reports currently has a significant delay because Sheepy is the only one who can check IPs, confirm in-game actions, and ban or delete players. Even if there were game mods set up, who have access to IPs and player action records, if the criteria for multis and cheating is anything OTHER than pure IP collision, it will take a not un-appreciable amount of time to investigate players, especially if cheating has already been shoved below the rug. By putting credits into the equation, it now incentivizes both Sheepy and the mods to deal with the complicated business of auditing players.

After all, the IRS does not audit every individual, and does not audit every individual's lifetime earnings, because it is labor intensive and disruptive to do so.

But hey, I'm out of this thread now. Think what you want, have fun.

  8. You expect to be paid in order to be honest? come on...this is crazy...the whole idea of paying /rewarding in order not to cheat sounds crazy to me.

I am not going to follow up on this line of conversation further than this, but I think in my experience, the smartest people I've met have also been the most dishonest, unscrupulous, and manipulative. As a Malaysian, you must also be familiar with this phenomenon, although I am told this has improved somewhat since Malathir stepped down (you are a country with an Ali Baba arrangement, the Ali, the Malaysian company obtains a contract via affirmative action, while the Baba, the Chinese people or a Chinese company, does the actual work because they can do it more efficiently or cheaply).

In the United States, one of the problem with financial regulation is that the smartest and most unscrupulous people work at the investment banks and the hedge funds. The second second smartest people, who are significantly less unscrupulous, work at the regulators. You can imagine how that works out, and how that can lead to financial bullshit to the benefit of Goldman Sachs et al at the expense of the everyday investor and the economy at large.

But I've said enough. I have my projects and ranting on the internet, as opposed to organized and concerted action, wastes my time.

  9. He's suggesting that nation's buy credits and turn them in to have Sheepy or a mod investigate a player that is suspected of cheating. He's not suggesting that Sheepy pay the players to investigate other nations.

Reading. Comprehension. I am trying hard not to get angry, but Reading. Comprehension. This poster has shown that.

  10. Just to note, there's a difference between a report and an audit. I only used the term report, but you should be free to report a player at any time. An audit, on the other hand, can only be done once every 3 months.

  11. Since cheating is often time-consuming to detect and punish, how would you feel about a multi-tiered report system?

What I am suggesting in that players be allowed to open investigations on players every 3 months, but the free report only covers the immediate status of the player within the last 1 month, as well as their current status.

On top of that, there are also bronze, silver, and gold reports, the former investigating 3 months into the player's past, the middle offering 6 months, and the last providing information for one year.

The bronze, silver, and gold would cost 1 credit, 2 credit, and 4 credits respectively, and the costs would pay for the time and effort needed to certify that so and so a player is clean.

  12. The song and dance offer is expired. Since there seems to be no interest, I'm paying for UnderlordGC's VIP membership, and I'll transfer 1 credit to him however he sees fit. Have a good day.

  13. Compared to (That terrible game that is totally irrelevant and I shouldn't be bringing it up anyways), that is; where most of the younger crowd grew up, got bored of the game, and found something else to do. Average age as stated in statistics is 23.

I used to prefer a younger crowd because I'm sick of (That terrible game that is totally irrelevant and I shouldn't be bringing it up anyways)'s degenerate alliance system (rampant sociopathy), and I thought younger people would be more naive and innocent; my logic was that players who played (That terrible game that is totally irrelevant and I shouldn't be bringing it up anyways) were good for a certain period of time, but afterwards they became cancer.

Now, of course, you guys trolled me en masse and attacked and baited me, so... :)

  14. Well obviously you don't want me in your community, but let's get past that. What is the official administrative / moderation target audience? If there is no target audience, or the idea is to be as broad as possible towards potential users and donors, what kind of community would the community itself prefer? Those are questions both the admins and the users need to ask before setting community standards.

Obviously we had a minor shitstorm when Foxfire wanted to post his Japanese pedophile cartoons (Sailor Moon is the best, okay?), but banning that only makes sense if you're targeting the kiddy market, as well as the "I am now a rich Japanese investment banker who has spent way too much money on his nation in an online game" market (not kidding, the specific example exists, as well as the market in general; (That terrible game that is totally irrelevant and I shouldn't be bringing it up anyways), for instance, had an older crowd, who also tended to donate much more than the younger crowd playing this game).

  15. @harminator:

for short notice, this will have to do.

@buorhann: sure, if that's what you want to believe. Actually, I had thought that most player complaints could be adequately addressed by talking sense to players, but it seems that that was outside my capabilities. When I think about it, though. it's closer to a little bit of both, rather.

Please don't do that. Seriously, that's really !@#$ dicky.

If you want me to stay, I'll indulge you.

  16. I came because I felt sorry for Kastor, then people had to feel sorry for me.

I'm actually planning to post a rampantly anti-American thread on July 4th, then I'll leave.

  18. Is there or is there not a coherent target audience policy? Is there a primary userbase that Sheepy wants, or is there something more diverse that is intended?

I've been thinking about it a bit, and while I admit that I've always seen older adolescents and young adults as a market that would benefit from the social gameplay experience, it may not make sense based on their spending capability.

  19. What words are on the filter, what words should be on the filter, and what words shouldn't be on the filter?

Also, why is all profanity filtered to a set string? While the idea may be to punish users for using profanity, it hurts other users a lot more by preventing them from making sense of others' posting. It may be better to block a specific set of letters, as in bull feces, or at least retain letter count so readers can make a good guess at what was censored.

Even on American TV, profanity isn't censored in such a way that the actual word use is disguised, although that may be more of a technical limitation.
