  1. Texas has a higher GDP per capita than every other country in the world except China, Denmark, Australia, Switzerland, Qatar, Norway, and Luxembourg.

Texas has its own power grid separate from the two US grids.

Of the top ten ports in the US, the second, fourth, and eight larget are located in Texas.

You are pulling data from different places at different times, which doesn't make much sense. Texas has a GDP per capita that is a few thousand higher than the U.S. as a whole, so basically all you are saying is Texas has a lot of people. Good job. If it were an independent country, it would be a poor, racist, nationalist police state - and in short order it would have many fewer people.

  2. Why? Texas gives more to the federal government in taxes than it receives in aid. It also has a lot of natural resources.

You sure? Several sources show them as a net recipient. In any case, their big booming economy is a function of their ability to have completely free access to the rest of American markets without imposing any of the typical and necessary tax and regulatory constraints that other states use to support a humane social system. Kick them the !@#$ out and they will be broke as a joke in a year, good riddance.

  3. It looks like it got fixed or patched. I just tried to create a set of dummy trades using only 1 steel, but the game stacked them all into one trade. Then I tried to use bank dump/delete to clutter the market, and it auto-canceled the trade once my steel quantity dropped to 0. Seems to work. I could try again with 2 steel, though

It always stacked offers of the same product at the same price.

Also, Abu Haddad's "exploit" was stupid and proves nothing.

  4. I think that this post has brought attention to the moderation team that threads being locked is a concern for players - as it stands, locking a thread is an action that requires two moderators to consent before the action is taken. Hopefully everyone will think twice after considering this thread, and make a more careful evaluation before deciding whether or not to consent to a thread being locked, and we'll have a better thread-locking decision making process overall.

    Thanks Sheepy.

  5. I didn't say you were unfair or unjust. I just think closing threads because you think the discussion has "run its course" is a different path than I have seen moderators take for the last year, particularly when many of the posts are still related to central dispute and ongoing war. It seems silly to cut off discussion with a "thread closed!" diktat only to see another one pop up on the same topic, wait 2-3 days, close that one and repeat. Is there some new aversion to long threads?

My suggestion to you is that unless a thread has run fully off the rails or is attracting multiple policy violations that you not close it. If you expect a basically identical thread to just be opened immediately, then closing the current thread is probably not necessary.

  6. Apparently Alpha has imposed some strict discipline on its members, who have largely stopped posting in recent days. Has anyone heard a rumor of a specific order from Steve to avoid the OWF, or did they all collectively realize at the same moment that every word in every post they make only digs their hole deeper?

  7. https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12773-future-for-alpha/

See this thread. This is not the first time recently that "Four" has locked a thread for some variation on 'thread has run its course' 'everyone has had a chance to reply' 'posts are off-topic' or whatever. This seems to be a new phenomenon, can someone point to a statement somewhere that says moderators should close threads once the moderator stops wanting to read new posts in a thread? Inevitably someone will just open a new thread on essentially the same topic (the war is still going on...), so it seems both pointless and unnecessarily heavy handed.

  8. It was referred to as rape, can you post it here as it doesn't sound that bad the way it is described in your post.

PLEASE PROVIDE ALL RELEVANT EVIDENCE TO THE COURT UNDER SEAL

  9. He (she?) didn't.

This is Hope Solo's initial post (no screenshot): https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12364-hello-alpha/?p=237539

This is Hope Solo's mod report over an hour laterhttps://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/12750-post-joking-about-datedrunk-rape/

Actually fits quite nicely with the timeline Wilhelm explained.

So it wasn't just Steve being a dick and his fellows backing him up, it was actually a conspiracy between Steve and at least one other member of his high government. It stands to reason the others were on board as well. I don't know why tS would even accept an apology at this point, if one were offered.

  10. Alpha can't admit its own mistakes; this isn't new information. Even its members would rather lie and obfuscate than simply admit to an error and move on. They don't want peace, so they won't get it.

  11. I think Steve's little trick was one of the slimiest things I've seen anyone do on this forum. Even from an OOC perspective it doesn't speak well of the morality and courage of Alpha's leaders and members; if they sit idly by and maintain a loyal silence, or in some cases try to boldly perpetuate Steve's bullshit, then they legitimately earn a share of Steve's growing infamy.

  12. I had to laugh too at the repeat assertion that Alpha saved tS' ass in Oktoberfest. Seriously, whatever measly effort you put out had no impact other than to puff out the already massive and unearned egos of a few of your members. We didn't make a big deal of it at the time because you were supposedly an ally of an ally, although in retrospect we might as well have.

And your nuke strategy is stupid, even when losing a "defensive" war. I'm sure it could be explained to you in a simple enough way for you to understand, but I would imagine few on the tS side of the world would see any benefit to making your life easier.

  13. If you're really interested in rehashing that: the actual initial Mensa-Vanguard talks broke off at an impasse so there was no reason to believe raids would stop. You may have decided to stop raids internally after the talks broke off and after Mensa nations had started raiding en masse, but it was only after a bunch of nations were beiged and no communication of it was given so there was no reason to believe they would stop.  No one externally decided to attempt  a diplomatic resolution until the initial week of war was up and the threat of outside intervention by Rose was looming. Given other mass raids have been responded to with recognition of hostilities and weren't perceived as offensive declarations, it's really not as black and white as you put it. If you tell alliances that they are are subject to perma-raids if they don't sign with a top 10 alliance or one of your allies, it's easily perceivable as a de facto state of war.

I'm sure by now your policies have been adjusted for handling those situations, but if we're going to be on this subject, it's best to clarify. People who were in Vanguard don't have the OWF presence nor care to come out en masse against the posting gallery out here to constantly repeat this argument, but this has always been the point of view from the other side of that war. It's not particularly relevant to the current situation aside from Steve mentioning that situation briefly, but it's simply not as clear cut as how you were summarizing it.

It's clear cut enough. Our attacks stopped. Vanguard responded in the de facto ceasefire with a stack of declarations. Call it retaliation or revenge or a suicide hit or whatever, but it wasn't a defensive action.

And as for the comment about threatening NPO or anyone else - no one threatened "perma-raids." You don't see us out "perma raiding" anyone. We just bar raids against certain categories of alliances, and either those categories or post-war NAPs are the only way we prohibit raids. So no one was going to guarantee that NPO or new micros wouldn't get raided unless they fell into one of those categories. That remains the case.

So Steve's constant reassurances of no hostile actions and your own admission about our lack of willingness to engage in any hostile action is not enough to diminish the rather volatile tone on the owf then please do propose a more reasonable measure to sort this out.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm waiting to see signs of this promised demilitarization. So far it isn't happening. Did Steve lie? Have Sparta members refused his demil order?

  14. How about this then, in an act of good faith, tS could also post an announcement regarding military intentions towards Alpha. Considering that we have already done that, we've already taken more steps towards "peace" than all of the 25 pages of text of the last few threads. If you explicitly say that tS or her allies won't attack Alpha, then we wouldn't have a reason to be militarized.

Or you can all just keep stroking yourselves while looking at a real military alliance. Come on, when is the Syndicate going to declare war?

Are you serious right now? You're a "military alliance"? Give us all a !@#$ break with your bullshit. You're an alliance of diplomatic mishaps, empty posturing and vague threats. You haven't actually been tested with full engagement in a war; maybe save the bragging until after you find out if you can carry your shit or not (you know where my money is).

And oh please oh please, let's you and I compare stats.

    This is you!

  15. This is false, I was advised after being raided on Christmas day that in order to avoid it happening again, we must sign an ally of thiers, luckily for us we were already in discussions with our friends at SK at the time.

This is not the same thing as "sign with tS or be rolled." It sounds like someone was explaining our raiding rules to you, which bar raids on allies of allies and various other restrictions.
