  1. I would like to point out that I believe climate change is a problem but at the same time (while we need to fix it) they do make it look bigger than it really is. In politics you blow all your problems out of proportion so that people will support you in fixing them. So while I support fixing it and I do believe it is a problem I just felt like you guys should know that those in power and those that write about this problem have made it look bigger.
  2. I actually like this post (Not gonna lie). I like to consider myself a "Prepper" (My age gets in the way being under 18 [not saying any more on that]) so I can't actually stockpile or buy a gun and stuff but I read survival manual of all kinds and manuals on what to do when SHTF. When you find good strategies at hunting and stuff let me know I'd sure like to be able to hunt. :)
  3. First let's get some things straight. Debt is not a bad thing (this link explains a little bit more https://www.thebalance.com/what-is-the-public-debt-3306294) but the U.S. debt is completely out of control (just look at this debt clock https://www.usdebtclock.org). So what are we going to do to fix this. I mean beyond letting congress raise the debt ceiling in another month when we come close to hitting our maximum debt (AGAIN).
  4. Not at all really that just kills soldiers and you can do that at anytime and it doesn't have any chance of restoring lost troops. Amongst other differences.
  5. Do both and maybe hockey or something. Then somebody can host the olympics.
  6. I think that this can be extended to the rest of the LGBT+ community. I will most certainly support that and try to get our Legislative branch to see that this needs to be added to the educational system. However, I do know there is such a thing as government overreach, so no matter how hard we try to educate people there will be those who disagree and I can't do anything about that.
  7. I personally would only make it free if the adults get it free but make it cheaper for those under age 18. I think I would tie it into healthcare. Since some countries already give free health care this would be free. Other countries don't give free healthcare (maybe there really short on cash or some other logical cause) in which case giving away free surgerys might not be the best idea. Of Course my country all ready has free healthcare (that goes with your driver's license) so it will be free. As for "They are also the ones who will be shaping the next generation so it's important that we as the government support them" I completely agree. That's why I'm trying to cut through the bureaucratic red tape in my country to fix my education system. That being said I think health class should include education on what changing your gender really means.
  8. True, I'd even be fine with 16 because then they get a drivers license so they can prove age, citizenship, and gender all at the same time.
  9. I might not agree with the age limit for choosing a gender. I would say that (a.) parents shouldn't be able to choose the gender of the child. (b.) I wouldn't be opposed to an age limit on the surgery being 14 while choosing and potential hormone treatments can start at any given time that the child decides.
  10. I'll be taking whatever stance is most dominant for awhile since most people in my country are more concerned with our failing education system, radiation killing off crops, and whether or not the government is even working or if it's just a bunch of red tape. That being said I do see both sides of this argument having a point.
  11. Quick question. What does someone have to do to change their gender? Is it just a decision, or do they have to take hormones, or undergo surgery?
  12. The President arrives. Welcome fellow leaders. I hope you have been enjoying yourself while staying here. Please feel at home. To start we will open with a topic. Anybody who wishes to speak will deliver their side. After that others will be able to refute your claims. Please do this in a calm manner so as to not turn our diplomatic efforts into a war. I thank you all for coming. Now to the debates. I believe we will start with LGBT+ rights. ((Open with what you are supporting, then reasons, to make it easier to understand, make closing remarks and other things if wanted)) ((Refute someone else by quoting them then putting your rebuttal just to make it easier to read))
  13. Welcome, the president will be very glad you made it.
  14. Hello everyone. I am New Svenska's Head of the Department of Foreign Relations. I am here because our President was delayed while dealing with a power shortage in Splitopia. To see who all has made it I would like to see what topics you all want to hit first.
  15. Some more people will be joining soon but to give you some time to think here is a rough plan of what's happening. To start, we will roll through the list of policies in Politics and War, since that's what has the most impact on the game. Next, we will allow a little bit of time in case some people who aren't interested in anything else want to make some closing remarks before they leave. Then we will bring some other issues to the table (ie. does the government have the right to ban wifi and internet access to some people).
  16. Soon, I'm hoping to get a few more people. Thanks for coming.
  17. Welcome to Aurora City, Capital of New Svenska. The president will be here to open the debates shortly. Thank you for your patience.
  18. Did you know that during WWII there was a group off actors who dressed like soldiers and marched near inflatable tanks while playing a recording of the sound a plane makes when going over head. Another time a single messenger road ahead of a slow and starving army to tell the enemy that there army outnumbered the enemy's 10 to 1 and was better equipped forcing the enemy to surrender. MECHANICS As an action you can spend 4 MAPs to make a false attack. There is a 75 - numbers of spies % chance that it works. If it works it deals the resistance damage of the actual attack as if a Immense Triumph. If a failure the enemy knows it's a false attack and attacks for free. Dealing the damage of an ground battle with Pyrrhic victory.
  19. I really like this idea. One thing I would add is the ability to not give soldiers microchips. Sort of like how there is an option to not arm soldiers with ammunition.
  20. By now some of you have realized I have an obsession with posting my creative ideas. Anyway, the point of this mechanic is to add a hint of realism and political intrigue. Before you read this just a quick reminder that POW is Prisoner Of War, and MIA is Missing In Action. JOINT MECHANIC Basically, 1% of enemy casualties after any attack that wasn't an utter failure, and 2% of casualties from a Immense Triumph, will be dubbed MIA or POW. POW MECHANIC POW's are simpler. With any war there will be a toggle for what to do with POWs. Treat them well, Treat them Okay, Treat them Poorly, Starve them, Gas Them, Brutal Execution. Those levels don't do much for mechanics. Either they kill prisoners (in which case the prisoners are transferred to the casualties section) or they don't. The real intrigue is that a when you complete an espionage turn to gather info there is a 50% chance your spys report what the conditions are in the camp. Also, if you have ground control or air superiority you can see the conditions within the camp. Air Raids kill 20% of the people on the POW list. Missiles kill 50% of the people on the POW list. Nuclear Attacks kill 80% of the people on the POW list. So for example, Joe is fighting Bob. Joe is losing and trying to convince a friend to help him. The friend doesn't want to go against Bob because Bob's country is really powerful. Joe however finds out the Bob is Brutally Executing Prisoners. This helps convince Joe's friend that Bob must be taken out and so he declares war on Bob. As with my disaster idea this is really only for those of you who want to be more in the game. Or, if you really want to bug your enemy by brutally executing their citizens. MIA MECHANIC The MIA mechanic is slightly less simple but still pretty basic. The day that someone goes "Missing In Action" they have a 25% chance of being caught by the enemy and become POW, 25% chance of finding a way back across enemy lines and rejoining your army, 25% chance of death, and 25% chance there still lost or hiding. After that day the percentages all drop to 10% (except for the 25% chance there still lost or hiding which becomes 70%). By the end of the war if there are any people still deemed MIA then 50% return and 50% are marked as dead. Gaining Ground Control returns 25% of people still on the MIA list. Air Superiority kills 25% of the people still on the MIA list. Missiles kill 50% of the people on the MIA list. Nuclear Attacks kill 80% of the people on the MIA list.
  21. Someone told me I was flooding the area with my ideas for Politics and War. My response was, "Hej, floods. What A great idea why didn't I think of that?" So, I had the idea that if you wanted more realism there would be something in settings to toggle on and off disaster mode. Different disasters happen during different seasons and in different places. All of them would deal out casualties and infrastructure damage. There would be a 1 in 200 chance they happen on any given turn. To make up for the death and disaster you get a 10% income bonus.
  22. Ok, I think since winter/arctic areas and mountains aren't good with plants we would add an extra -5% food growth or something like that. THen the higher the defence the lower the food (which can be quiet expensive since your options are basically war or buying food). Also, add the resistance bonus only for ground battles, naval battles, and air strikes. (Along with siege, brown water, and strat. bombing if you guys liked my other post on war)
  23. Ja, that seems like a pretty reasonable limit. Thanks for the feedback. How would it be if we did slots like with war (1 defensive and 2 offensive)?
  24. How many of you have wanted to do minor border clashes and things without going into a full blown war? My idea for border conflicts and brush fire wars is simple. You can only take one military action (either ground battle, air strike, or naval battle) at half capacity. Then the other person would get a notification with the option to retaliate. Retaliation gives the other country a notification with the opportunity to retaliate. However after 10 retaliations (cumulative amongst both parties) the retaliate option is replaced with war or peace.
