  1. Is an ODP really an upgrade from a protectorate?

We fully expect to be helping each other if a war comes, so yes.

There's a bit of complication in us signing MDPs at the time, particularly because Rose and SK have had a long history with one another, but when it comes down to it we've got the backs of both Rose and SK.

On paper, it might seem a downgrade. In reality, it won't be treated anything like one.

  2. Upon their creation, many alliances have difficulty growing and working their way up. Most alliances are started by new nations, who know little of the game and eventually have to give up as they get raided or find themselves unable to grow at a competitive pace.

Looking back to the days where the D'Haran Empire originated, you would find a similar situation. We were formed by 10 new nations to the game, literally on their first day, during a time when not as many alliances existed. Rose protected us, taught us how to play the game, and is overall the reason that the D'Haran Empire exists in the way it does today.

On this day, we no longer wish to be viewed as a group to be protected, but as an ally who will support our friends to the best of our abilities.

    Article I:

Rose and the D'Haran Empire (hereby "the signatories") will not engage in combat against one another.

    Article II:

The signatories may choose to aid each other in any conflicts at their own will

    Article III:

The signatories will use discretion when handling any important matters, and always attempt to solve them in private rather than stir up dramatics.

    Article IV:

This treaty may be cancelled by either party after a 5 day notice is given.

    Signed for the D'Haran Empire:

    Pax, Lord Rahl
Kastor, Secretary of Economics and savior of Orbis
    Wolfwyrm, Secretary of Defense

    Signed for Rose:

    Caillous, Emperor
    Belisarius, Regent
Redarmy and Abbass Mehdi, Lords of Foreign Affairs
    Moreau, Lord of Internal Affairs
Krillian and Teredona, Lords of War
    Oblige, Lord of Economics

  3. ... Um pretty sure I saw her nation listed as a None the other day and found it odd. Honestly I was thinking this was a merging thread before I clicked it, SWF have been beating LoN down with raids lately after all.

Never talked to her, but players leaving the game is never good so a sad loss I'm sure.

Her nation definitely existed later than that, I believe announced Charlie's appointment on the 30th, and then officially left and deleted today. I may be slightly off on the time frame, but I don't have access to the time logs.

Anytime you post I expect the word "merger" and you did not disappoint.

I post all kinds of things about balance changes and the like, maintain the alliance directory, etc. but nobody ever remembers that stuff :P The word "merger" only came up because it was literally in the process of happening when she deleted, she wanted to carry it out and then she just kind of disappeared.

Anyways, that's not the point of this. The point is that Katherine is gone, and it sucks. She was a great leader to work with, and honestly one of my favorite people on PNW.

  4. No such announcement was made by the official government of League of Nations, as they typically had little forum use as an alliance. In their stead, I'm making an announcement.

On November 1st 2015, Katherine Kimble of League of Nations has stepped down and deleted her nation. Nobody had any heads up on this, and sadly I don't know of any way to keep in contact with her now. Even her members were surprised as she made the announcement in the morning, and deleted her nation shortly after.

While not many know League of Nations, I've worked with Katherine since the D'Haran Empire was the same size as them. While we have outgrown them, we've continued to work together since then. I know that lately Katherine was not feeling her best, and she seemed to have less time to devote to the game, but her thoughts were always on how to best help her alliance. When League of Nation's previous leader, Nathan Higgins, became inactive, she took the reigns and maintained it and grew it to a size it had not previously reached.

They are a small alliance, yes, but Katherine was a capable leader and will be missed by those who worked with her. She was one of my favorite leaders to work with in this game, and I wish I'd known this was coming sooner. I don't know where this leaves LoN, or us with our past plans together, but DHE will continue to work alongside them.

For those interested, here is the final message Katherine sent out to League of Nations members before deleting:

Hello leaders. It is my unfortunate duty to inform you all, that I am resigning my position as Secretary-General of the League of Nations. I have happily lead this alliance for months. Our GDP has climbed from just over 16 billion to now over 22 billion. Our score has climbed to heights we've never seen. So I leave you all in a better condition than when I took office. Per my resignation, Lord Charlie, as Deputy, has my full confidence and will assume the office of Secretary General and he will be responsible for appointing a Deputy. I know my decision to resign will come as a shock to many, but not only will I be resigning; I will be leaving the game completely. Life has picked up and I'm finding less and less time to commit to the game. I am so sorry to have to leave you guys, but more important things are beginning to take shape in my life. It has be an honor and a pleasure to serve each and everyone of you. I wish nothing but the best for the future of this alliance and I'm confident and you all can lead this alliance to new heights.

    Thank you
    Katherine Kimble
    Secretary-General

  5. The only theft here I see is that of an alliance. It is impossible to steal money from the bank without leaving a trace. Am I missing something?

That is the theft we're talking about. Especially given that those who stole the alliance are only using it as a bartering chip, in an attempt to get gov in a larger alliance and coup it.

  6. Not that this matters too much for those outside the alliance, but the D'Haran Empire will not watch this go by without assisting. We still firmly hold by our beliefs of "don't be a dick", and are currently working on a program to help those remaining in Riptide to both grow significantly and counter the thieves.

We will be accepting any interested in making the counter, giving them full access to our guides, and aiding/organizing them in the effort.
