The rules are posted at the top of every forum. The date and time of the last post is posted right on that post. Your post was 196 days after the most recent earlier post in that thread. Forum users are charged with knowledge of the rules, and the way their actions interact with those rules. The fact that you did not read the date of the last post does not absolve you from the rules.
There is not an exception for "pinned" threads to the gravedig rule, however it may be worth considering such a policy. Even if such a policy is implemented, though, it will not be retroactive.
I believe this matter warrants further discussion, however, so I am merging this topic with the previous one and unlocking it.

We have decided to continue the trend of literary deus ex machina for moderator names. Welcome, Aslan, and thanks for all the support, Grendel! Enjoy your retirement, my friend!
I see someone denied my moderator application.
Do not ask to become a moderator. Moderation positions are invitation only.

You guys only need one DoE thread, so I just merged the two together and made it a huge mess.
But that's what you get for having two in the first place. Enjoy!

Quantum Werewolves
This game is similar in function to the Standard Mafia game, but at the beginning of the game, nobody is quite sure what their role is. Players will be secretly given a player number, and there will be a public posting of the probability that each player is either: 1) a werewolf; 2) a seer (who has the ability to identify werewolves at night; or 3) an ordinary villager. Players goals are the same as they are in Standard Mafia.
During the day, lynchings will happen in the same way they do in Standard Mafia. At night, however, each player who has any probability of being a werewolf or a seer will submit to the moderator their selection for a night killing and a vision. The accuracy of the vision the potential seer receives will be dependent on both the probability that the seer is actually the seer and the probability that the werewolf is actually a werewolf. If the seer is not actually the seer, his vision will be random, but if he is actually the seer, than his vision will probably be accurate (depending on how likely it is that his target is a werewolf).
At the end of each day and night, every player will be assigned a probability of being dead ranging from 0-100%. As long as a player is less than 100% dead, that player can continue to vote for lynchings and take actions at night. When a player becomes 100% dead, the moderator will determine the player's role definitively, and the probabilities will be recalculated using this newly-discovered information.
As an example: in a five-player game, there is one werewolf, one seer, and three villagers. Each player starts the game with a 20% probability of being a seer and a 20% probability of being a werewolf, as well as a 0% chance of being dead. During the night, if a player is selected to be killed by another player, then he has a 20% probability of being dead.
This is probably the nerdiest thing I have ever seen. I love it!

Attention fellow members of Politics and War!
The General Roleplay Forum has been re-vamped with new rules and new possible quasi-staff positions.
I encourage everyone to go check the new rules out here, and get involved. There are no games currently taking place, but I have it on good authority that one will be opening up for membership this week, and any others are welcome and strongly encouraged.
The new Game Master position is a quasi-moderator position that has been created for this forum. So far there are no members of that group, and it will be a while before any members of that group are appointed. The blanket rule that moderator positions are invite-only continues to apply here. If you are interested in being appointed as a Game Master, you will have to demonstrate your interest by running successful games.
I hope to see the lot of you down there!

USE OF THE MODERATION SUPPORT FORUM
General Guidelines
This is an open discussion forum. It's purpose is for players to ask questions or make proposals relating to policy and rules ONLY. This forum is not for filing reports, making complaints, discussion of game mechanics, or making suggestions pertaining to the game. There are established forums for each of those issues.
All threads created here, and replies, should remain respectful to staff and other players. Using this forum for anything other than the purpose explicitly stated will result in warns, leading up to suspension.
Topic Lock Requests
Only the topic starter can request a lock of their topic. Topics will only be locked if the mod staff deems that it has gone off topic, is no longer relevant, or other extenuating circumstances apply. Do not request a thread lock simply because you're not happy with the discussion. Abuse of this forum will result in warns.
To request a topic lock, create a new thread in this forum and include the following information:
Link to topic:
Reason for request:
-
That's enough, guys. If I have to give one more warning for spam in this thread, I'm locking it.

...How is this IC at all ?
if you believe that moderator action is warranted with respect to a particular post or thread, the appropriate way to address that is by clicking the "Report" button. Sitting back and doing nothing, and then complaining that nothing is done, is a pointless exercise.

While amusing, and not objected to by the target, this is not the kind of thread we should be encouraging. I'm locking it, but issuing no warns.

P2K, I understand where you are coming from, and I agree that the community could be more welcoming and that the rules could be more prominently displayed. I will look into getting the rules posted in locked, sticky threads in more locations so they are less likely to be overlooked. At the same time, anyone who participates in any community needs to understand that there are almost certainly rules in place, and they need to take responsibility for knowing and understanding them.
In your time on the forums, you have received 1 warning point. The warning system on these forums is in place to keep track of moderator activity on player accounts, and the vast majority of players make it through a given day, week, or month without any warnings. The first warning in a 30-day period carries no penalty whatsoever, but serves as a reminder from the staff that you should pay more attention to whether your posts are violating the rules or not. In the warning, a moderator should (and I did) explain why you are receiving a warning point. If you have questions about the warning, you should (and you did) contact the moderator directly to ask for more information. When that happens, the moderator should (and I did) respond with more detail to assist you in avoiding further rule breaking.
Your comments about the community at large are not at all unreasonable and I think the community should take them to heart and try to be more welcoming and open, but your comment about your warning point was disingenuous and specious. You know why you were warned. Your warning was explained to you in detail. And you have altered your posting habits as a result to follow the rules more closely.
Well its no surprise that I'm the only person here who agrees with you.
This community is unreasonably hostile and once someone decides they dont like you or your opinion, they tend to keep that POV out of egotism. Eventually you tell everyone to !@#$ themselves and just get used to it.
Ironically, we have two recent threads that this immediately makes me think of:
The Retarded Thread
And
Who is PWs #1 !@#$ poster
On one hand, the community complains about the word retard, then they turn around and make a thread specifically designed to personally attack somebody (which in my opinion is comletely inapropriate and should have been locked).
Long story short, all the notable players here are trolls. Welcome to the community of PaW.
Fox Fire, if you believe that moderator action is warranted with respect to a particular post or thread, the appropriate way to address that is by clicking the "Report" button. Sitting back and doing nothing, and then complaining that nothing is done, is a pointless exercise.

Just because an action is prohibited does not mean that the forum staff has an obligation to prevent that action before it happens. This isn't Minority Report.
We have rules in place, and they are posted all over the place. The rules exist to be followed, and each member is expected to follow them. Although this may not have been the original purpose, one good reason to leave the threads open is because it encourages posters to exercise restraint on their own. More importantly, though, it allows moderators to apply the rules with some flexibility, so that valuable discussion can continue if it is happening.
With that being said, your point is well-taken that I locked the wrong thread that you dug up from the grave. I should have locked one or more of the half dozen that you did. I chose that one because it had been dead the longest, though. I'll unlock the thread, but your warning point will stay.
