ReuKinChe
Following the almost total legalisation of genetic engineering of humans, children are on average set to be significantly stronger and more intelligent than their predecessors. Under the previous laws, genetic engineering was only available for the elimination of genetic diseases. Now, genetic engineering is legal for intelligence, mental health, strength, and the immune system. Early estimates predict the average IQ to rise by 10 points. Other metrics are more difficult to predict. Critics have warned of the dangers of unrestricted genetic engineering, and its potential to create impenetrable class barriers. For this reason, genetic engineering will be partially paid for by the government. Because the advantages held by engineered babies are not yet insurmountable, genetic engineering will not yet be compulsory.
ReuKinChe
Research into digital brain augmentations was beginning to yield results, although more development was needed before they could be used effectively. Laboratories began the development of viral agents capable of reprogramming DNA, so that non-newborns could be genetically engineered. While some viral agents had previously been used effectively, most notably on curing the President's muscular dystrophy, there were risks involved with immune responses, which would deter all those not already at risk of death. ReuKinChe
Safe viral agents for single-gene issues such as cystic fibrosis and Huntington's disease were developed and distributed. Viral agents for more complex issues, such as depression and increased risk of cancer still needed work. Mathematical and logic implants were developed for members of the Lumian Intelligence Agency, so that they would be better able to make mental connections. After decades of research and development, the ability to 3D-print bodily tissues and organs was employed on a large scale. The quality of tissue produced is far superior to natural tissue.
