Achievement unlocked

Can some one tell me what this is all about . I keep getting notifications informing me that I have unlocked a new achievement and yet when I look at my account nothing has changed and I don’t receive any rewards . If there are no rewards then what is the purpose of this . I think that we should receive some type of reward weather it be resources or money
