  1. Congratz, welcome and good luck!  7K used to run some programs to help new alliances get going.  I'm not sure what we do now.  If you need anything, be sure to check us out on IRC.  Believe me when I say we are all heartened to see new alliance springing up.

  2. The aggressor should only fight a war they can win, since they get to choose.  Looks like EoS overestimated their own abilities and chose poorly.  Calling on allies to help doesn't really seem wrong or anything, merely indicative of a failure to properly plan their war, unless it was always the plan to bring in reinforcements in a staggered fashion.

  3. This is a good idea, to list the status of the member.  A member with higher level guild rank, such as officer or leader, would reflect a different message then just a member too, so beyond just application, the page could show their rank too.

  4. I can already tell this thread will be golden.

It's not semantics and maybe you don't even know what that word means or the context it's used in.  If some UPN/DEIC members would face reality then we could move on to something more interesting.  What's funny about it is that I don't  really have a problem with aggressive actions, but clearly you guys are sensitive to the issue for some reason.

LOL, and that's where I'm at.  I've got no problem with an aggressive war, but the constant need to spin offense as defense is mind boggling.

  5. I don't think using force to "enforce rights" abroad will ever work.  Human Rights are a basic part of the "Social Contract" in a state.  The people there can handle it.  Maybe not every people is ready for the same level of rights as certain European countries.

  6. The United States has a lot of religious fundamentalist extremists too.

They think Gods law is the only law they have to follow.

They want their faith taught in schools to every student.

They want to imprison people who don't share their faith.

They want to kill people who violate their interpretation of their Holy Book.

They believe revolution and violence is their birthright.

They think women must dress modestly.

Eradication by murder isn't what I was suggesting.  I'm suggesting wiping out fundamentalists by confronting their backward beliefs as publically and frequently as possible.  And lets face it, they are violence-prone, so when they get their gun, you get yours and we can settle it like Ironborn.

As for ISIS, I am a believer in Colin Powell's famous "you break it, you bought it" line about Iraq.  We're responsible.  Its our fault, and it sucks that we might need to see our soldiers keep dying there, but we need to make it right.

  7. Nationalism is the epitome of "rooting for the home team".  Its the most basic "us versus them" mentality.  Nationalism is a way for craven politicians to distract their constituencies from the real issues at home and funnel their anger at an outsider.  Nationalism is a sickness for weak minds.

When the cards fall badly though, we all revert to Nationalism.  Its like a psychological weakness.  Actually, its seemingly a positive evolutionary trait to want to murder strangers and take their stuff.  Those without that trait, got killed and didn't pass their genes on.  Its up to us now to break the bonds of a million years of stranger killing.
