  1. I love the salt thrown at OO for being friends with t$. Long live the hegemOOny!

Yeah! I mean where is the salt thrown at t$ for being friends with OO? As this topic clearly illustrates we are the true evil masterminds behind EVERYTHING :P

BTW I can't be the only one to have noticed that he said "Twelve years, four members, five fights, and five wins." in the op :D

  2. Putting aside my foolishness, I genuinely see your line of concern and understand why in a game called Politics and war, you'd want that to be the case. To be fair I do believe that a proper DoW should have been made. I don't share your stronger convictions on the matter though.

It probably comes from me having played that other game for many years and remembering fondly back in the day when people actually cared about the reasons used for war and would discuss page after page after page about whether it was just or unjust. Not necessarily saying it is better since it can put you in the other ditch where you get paralyzed by the need for a "proper" CB, but I do believe that at least trying to explain ones rationale is better than just going out and doing it :)

  3. It seems the guessing game generates just as much activity. Is your gripe really that you have nothing to gripe about because I'm seeing plenty of gripe.

It is that I genuinely believe that it is detrimental to the game when people declare wars without as much as posting a topic about it. It isn't some political line or anything of the sorts. It is a genuine belief that it makes the game poorer.

  4. My point is that even if our reason for war merely was that we felt it was advantageous for us to declare war at that time, we at least posted a topic giving people the opportunity to react and to question and to discuss the action, rather than just staying silent, like so many have done this time around.

Hell ya why not? War is what gets this game popping

And if that is your reason "because we wanted to", then more power to ya, but I still feel a war deserves a public declaration to give the community a place to react to it and discuss it. Call me old fashion, but that's how I was brought up :P

  5. People seem to have plenty to talk about without having to post a DoW, I don't need to lie to go to war

No apparently you don't need any reason what so ever to go to war. You just sorta randomly do it out of the blue...

  6. Still better than fabricated garbage that was last war

How so? A controversial reason for war gives people something to talk about. It gives people something to react to. Silence is just that, silence...

  7. Why of course. We are much to cool.

    #TooCoolForDoW's

    #SoEdgy

Yes, depriving the community of the activity that is usually part of declarations of war by not posting any or half assing them is really cool...

  8. Also, the out lash for not honoring a written treaty is definitely not the same as a handshake agreement. When we fought TKR and co., Kastor said that TEst would help with the rebuilding. Now, whether this is true or not, I don't really know. He handled the talk by himself. But later on, nearing the end of the fight, several things happened and we were led to believe that no financial help is coming. Despite the seemingly confusing info all around, the general sentiment was, "oh well, both us and TEst are paperless. Guess they gotta do what they gotta do." There was virtually no backlash against TEst. Of course, with their recent announcement, this is a moot point, but I believe it serves to illustrate what kind of backlash, if any, if a paperless alliance were to retract their promise.

But this time they've actually formally announced that they're defending you, meaning that, at least in my opinion, they'll face the same backlash as any other alliance failing to live up to a treaty if you're attacked and they don't protect you...

  9. Please see the third paragraph and know I don't care what you think. You don't get to tell us what paperless means.

I'm not trying to tell you what paperless means and I'm sorry if it came off that way. I am just genuinely trying to understand what you see the difference being :)

  10. So for us to remain "paperless" we need to keep all our agreements secret? Or not have any agreements? Cause the latter isnt paperless its neutrall and thats a whole difrent cake. And the former is just silly.

Sorry for poor spelling, idc to try.

So what would you say is the difference between announcing your agreements and...announcing your agreement, which is basically what a treaty is?

  11. Actually all they have to do to ensure winning is to counter as soon as their ally gets attacked. Do that and BK sphere(is that right??) is in a problem since obviously Rose/VE/UPN one has better numbers. It has proven to be major(if not the biggest) reason why BK sphere is winning all the time.

Or this all could be hopefully changed with new war mechanics cause everyone declaring on everyone in one night would be pretty boring.

I'm gonna have to disagree. It isn't that they all need to declare on the same night, it's that they need to learn to coordinate and be active enough to pull off a blitz that doesn't completely fail.

Their problem is that even when they're blitzing, our side has consistently been better prepared for their blitz than they have themselves. When they run a blitz with 10 people and we have 50 sitting and waiting for them then it should come as no surprise that their blitz fails.

I think it might be a matter of mindset. If you expect 3/4 of your alliance to not be there then they won't, but if you expect everyone to be there, then you might get disappointed, but you'll still have a better turnout...

  12. Sorry for the lack of updates, but things have gotten kinda boring, so meh.

    Anyways here's a graph:

    zIlzS4U.png

As you can tell over the past few days a clear trend has emerged of the BK side slowly gaining score while the UPN side continues dropping, though we have begun seeing some leveling out as some alliances reach a point where they don't really have much left to lose.

Oh and just so no one mentions it, yes I am aware that Rose left, but I can't really be assed to keep track of who is leaving so they're staying in the stats unless someone a) gives me a list of who leaves and when and B) gives me a good idea of how to represent someone leaving without making it look like giant losses (well you could argue that an alliance leaving is a loss to the side, but whatever).

Anyways Rose leaving means that they didn't get to fulfill their dream of losing 50% of their score. Both Fark and NAC however have reached that monumental milestone, while NPO remains at the head of the pack with an impressive 60% score loss.

On the BK side people are rushing in the other direction with both BK and tC getting below the 0, i.e. we have both actually gained score as of yesterday. A couple of other accomplishments worth mentioning is that there is now only 1 alliance that has lost more than 20% of its score on the BK side, while all (but Alpha, but they don't count because of their prior war with t$) have lost more than 30% on the UPN side.
