But being in a micro group has it's and cons  plus big players won't take you seriously unless the team, you are in knows what they are doing.

uh, no? most people join established alliances, or their training alliance if they have one and rise that way. all alliances are eager to have new, (non-toxic) members. I myself joined a micro when I started out and that worked well for me though. (a miracle to be honest)
