  1. Happy to see this! I've always admired the Seven Kingdoms, even you wanted to roll us. :P

Best of luck to you gents moving forward! Don't be a stranger. ^_^

I was going to say, should have let Kurdanak post this since he needs the post count. I should have known better than to underestimate you. :D

  2. Howdy Pre. Actually, I've been considering this. If we get rolled by Rose, we have better chances on the Arrgh front I'm fairly certain. We outnumber them fairly heavily (MENSA also has slightly more coordination then our drunken anarchist pirate friends) -- our current problem is that we are too high in score, so they have been effectively sniping up at our lowest-tier members. However, if Rose airstrikes our infra into oblivion, our core group will once again be able to strike Arrgh head-on. Currently Arrgh's the one amassing victories; not us. Perhaps this will change if we are bombed into their tier, perhaps not.

We'll see what happens in the coming weeks, assuming we are Rose's eventual target.

Personally, a part of me hopes that we are Rose's target. I want to try a new idea for a city-build. A 0-infrastructure powerhouse, that can cheaply rebuild to 800 in case I need to rebuild a nuclear plant or military buildings. With the buffs to baseball income, I can get by short/medium term with my income entirely independent from commerce/resource buildings. Either that, or I can trade on the market's margin, but that's more volatile income -- especially during wartime.

You can experiment with whatever else you like, but I think we can all agree that what Orbis sorely needs is for someone to run a nation on baseball income.

  3. The idea that ships are useless has little to do with the utility of blockades and much more to do with the ease of breaking them. This proposal does little to alter that dynamic, so as you said most people would split between storing most resources in the alliance bank and paying the extra to be able to militarize without waiting for bank dispensation. Ultimately, this will either add a tedious micromanagement aspect or an additional cost to be paid, without significantly altering the way warfare or resource management works outside of making extra work for bank handlers in times of war.

  4. Since power plants work on a system where they power a certain amount of infra, and nuke plants in particular have two tiers, it's possible that something in the city power algorithm wasn't set up to handle the edge case of 0 infra. The cities without power were the ones without wind plants, right?

  5. I think arguing about societal norms differing over a thousand years misses the point, really. The Quran, and Muhammad's actions as he lived by it, are supposed to be the pinnacle of morality, the guidelines that everyone looks back on as they try to live their own lives. The argument that societal values have changed over time ignores the supposition that morality is absolute, that what Allah says is good must be good. Since Allah decreed (as Ibrahim pointed out) that Aisha was to be married to Muhammad, it is divine will that that happen. Either that is morally wrong, or it is morally right - and since it is Allah's will that it happen, it is clearly morally right. This, in my mind, is a far more troublesome issue. A lot of things can be forgiven when you simply say the people involved lived in different times (I've seen it said for things like the US founders having slaves, for instance), but divine morality is absolute and unchanging, so the values of then must be the values of now, which obviously renders a lot of things 'good' that are by modern standards unpalatable.

  6. Thought it will be cool to make a shout out thread for people to give credit to those who either have been good sports, impressed you with their fighting ability/spirit and generally people you come across the battlefield who were chill.

I'll start by giving a shout out to Moridin of SK, who's been fun to fight and converse with. Thanks for that nuclear glow! :P

You're pretty cool yourself. Props on making that my only move, btw. It's been an enjoyable fight, if slightly one sided ;)

  7. A missile destroyed one of my barracks, lowering my soldier cap from 120k to 117k. My total soldier count remained at 120k, and my daily recruitment potential showed -3k. After losing soldiers and falling below 117k, I am only able to buy up to that amount, as expected.

    Essentially, this

If they take out a military improvement, they destroy the units within as well.

aspect of the missiles didn't work.

  8. Which is why it should be the top priority.

If you make use nuclear energy the lowest and exceed 2000 which will happen then the system won't expand well to accommodate that.

    How so?

Say you have a 2200 infra city with a wind power plant, a coal power plant and a nuclear power plant.

The wind powers 200 infra. The coal powers 500 infra. The nuclear plant powers 1500 infra, which results in all operating at max capacity. If you buy a second coal plant, then the nuclear plant powers only 1000 infra, saving on the extra uranium consumption per tick.

Nuclear being lowest is actually necessary.

This can also be used without nuclear power coming into play. Say you have 500 infra and a coal power plant but not that much coal production. You can buy a wind power plant and have that cover 200 infra, leaving coal to cover 300 infra, with accompanied reduction in coal resource usage.

  9. A priority system for power plants could be quite useful

    First would be wind power.

Second would be coal/oil (if possible, whichever one you naturally produce has higher priority).

    Third would be nuclear power.

The plants provide power in order of priority, and resource usage is dependent on the amount of power provided by each plant as per individual usage. It might need tweaking for multiple plants of the same type, I dunno.

  10. I have one Factory. My maximum production on the Tanks page is 400.

I had 395 tanks as of a few minutes ago, and then I bought 80 tanks. By all rights this should have been denied, but instead I was able to buy 80 tanks without issues and now have 475 tanks, with only one Factory.

  11. Well, I actually came here from PT. That's where SK had its presence, aside from a short lived stint on Ogame, and that most directly answered the title question so it's my vote. PT's been gone a while, though, and I've generally been active on (That terrible game that is totally irrelevant and I shouldn't be bringing it up anyways) (for certain definitions of 'active') although not in any relation to SK in any way.
