Ayayay
Okay, according to ss23, from now on the server won't be following mountain time but a "specific GMT offset" which means that EST users will have to stay up until 3am EST for a turn change. This is retarded as !@#$ as EST players are quite literally !@#$ed over and I doubt many would bother to stay up until 3am to deal with this shit. I've already experienced attempting to have EST people stay up until 2am and it has always been a chore with some outright refusing as they have lives to live. 3am simply won't be possible for some people and activity will go down (although it's going down anyways due to this exploit but whatever) Quote Orbis Wars | CSI: UPN | B I G O O F | PW Expert Has Nerve To Tell You How To Run Your Own Goddamn Alliance | Occupy Wall Street | Sheepy Sings TheNG - My favorite part is when Steve suggests DEIC might have done something remotely successful, then gets massively shit on for proposing such a stupid idea. Diocletian
Yep, I live in Ohio so 3 a.m. and first shift work just doesn't jive the greatest. At the end of the day though, that's tough, I'll just have my pixels murdered much quicker. Would trade that for a decent paycheck any day. But seriously, what's the problem? Molly Emma
Why do we always adhere to 24hr cycles? Habit? Could we have 22 hour game days with 11 turns/day and then dc would rotate and potentially screw everyone equally over time? Just a thought. 2 Quote 8567 Club- Member-At-Large ☾☆ Warrior of Dio

Or we could just run everything based on turns, and not have anything that resets or adjusts according to days. Then whatever timezone you're in is irrelevant.

stetonic
EST is a major timezone. Are you serious All time zones are either + or - GMT and as such all timezone's are of equal standing. So a change to your EST makes the same change for the whole world And before anyone adds it.Yes i know UCT is now used but in the uk its still GMT
Dan77
I don't know what the change to the timezone is going to be but I made a suggestion a while back. https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6500-different-time-zones/ Timezones in P&W would be p useful, especially if you can decide your own timezone to suit your own schedule. Adama
Just move it back to mountain time, 3 AM for the location where I would say at least the largest minority or even the majority of players come from is a little absurd. Better yet move it to central time, so everyone gets a decent time (In America, sorry codo. Not sorry.) Edited September 2, 2015 by Adama 3 Quote If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a roll. Greatnate
If we decouple Server time from Sheepy's physical location we can optimize the military reset time to inconvenience the lowest number of people. The number of people awake in internet using countries peaks at about 9 am EST. (http://www.edlundart.com/pages/is-the-internet-awake.html) In my experience, the bulk of P&W players are from the US, Western Europe/Africa, and Australia. Military reset at 9 am EST would mean: 6 am for the US west coast (early but not 3 am) 2 pm for GMT and 3 pm for Western Europe/Africa (a fine time to be awake) 11 pm for Eastern Australia (not too late for most) This solution basically places the least desirable hours (12 am - 6 am) in the middle of the Pacific ocean and should be the least inconvenient global.

Yeah, except that 2pm is a terribly inconvenient time if you're working and unable to use the internet for browser games at work. Whatever time is set, it will be inconvenient for some people. Whether that's due to the timezone they are in, the shifts they work or some other reason. That's why I really believe that we should be able to set our own timezone by positioning ourselves on the world map appropriately. Certain things may need to be put into place to avoid abuse of the system but as it costs 2 credits to move anyway, that may be enough to prevent abuse. The limit on moving would probably need to be lifted too and if it was implemented, maybe the addition of 1 free move per citizen would be a good gesture. ----
Poland can't even into space! Be quiet! Our Soviet Brothers brought us into space (Tow. Kemal Ergenekon
Or we could just run everything based on turns, and not have anything that resets or adjusts according to days. Then whatever timezone you're in is irrelevant. More people should consider this. Basically there is no day change. You get 1/12 of your daily capacity back every turn.
