Finding and fixing the exploit has been the #1 priority since my last announcement. I've been working with Malone to track down where the injected money and resources were coming from, and put a stop to it. I'm happy to say that we've found the source of the money, and fix the hole for good. Suprisingly, it was not a bug in the code, but rather a brute-force hacking attempt that gave the exploiters access to the database. From there, they were able to inject money and resources into nations at will. Henry was immensely helpful in finding the source of the exploit and getting it fixed. There were many other players who offered information and their services to me, and I'm thankful for each and every one of you. To everyone that has helped in resolving this issue, especially Henry, I and the community as a whole owe you a great thanks. All passwords have been changed, and Malone and I are continuing to work on separating powers to ensure that this does not happen again. You are now able to once again donate money for credits, and we can basically resume activity like normal. As for those who abused this exploit or knowingly received funds, we will continue to root you out and remove you from this community. The exploit may be fixed, but our investigation is not over, and we will continue to catch and reprimand the abusers. It's only a matter of time before you're caught - if you enjoy playing Politics & War and participated in this abuse I strongly recommend you come forward and turn yourself in immediately. A number of players have been banned and removed from the game already, along with quite a bit of spawned resources and cash. Like I said in my other post, we can't get rid of it all, but it's spread so thin and the economy of the game is so dynamic that the effects of the exploit will dissipate quickly over time. Or are they basically immune from this unless there's proof that they "knowingly" accepted the money? Seriously though, thank you Sheepy and Malone for working so hard on this and Henry for offering his assistance. I've been with this game since the very beginning and known Sheepy for quite some time, and I have to say you have never stopped proving to me how good an administrator you can be. I think the game still has a good future to it, regardless of the exploit. 3 If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a roll. There is one you will follow.
