Does God exist?

  1. 1. Does God exist?

    • Yes, but no modern religion has God correct.
    • Yes, my religion tells me the true God and I worship that God.
    • Yes, but God is nature not a material figure.
    • No, God is a creation of Bronze Age humans.
    • No, God is the opium of the masses. #KarlMarx
    • Yes, but the "human" God is an alien. But a real one does exist.

!@#$ it, I'll respond to this and expand my horizons forum-wise.

As for the idea that there's a single being leading everybody around on puppet-strings, holding the entire idea of eternity in his hands, that really doesn't seem right to me.

However, I don't really feel that everything we do is truly spontaneous. I feel like we are being controlled somehow, however it is not by an idea of a person.

Might just be some fallout from quantum physics I'm not able to comprehend, but meh.

We will never be able to have a decent and objective debate with a topic like this. Believe me, I've tried.

So I won't even bother posting points and aruments when all of it can easily be trashed by bulletproof counter arguments such as "GOD IS BEYOND LOGIC AND REASON OMFG!!!1 U MORON" or "The Big Bang is a theory is just a theory you idiot" etc.

I believe that controlling force you're feeling is the Illuminati and their masters, the reptiles from Alpha Centauri. Of course, that could just be what the government wants you to think.

We must first determine if we exist to determine if God exists.

I find Descartes' "I think therefore I am" to be pretty compelling. But if, somehow, we don't actually exist, why would that preclude God from existing?

OK, but seriously... The idea that "we are all God" is a pretty common idea in philosophy. It doesn't mean we have magical powers, it simply means what it says.

egotistical bourgeoisie nonsense

if human beings didn't live in socialist societies and did not rely on other people they would die.

sadly bourgeoisie authors like Ayn Rand and Nietzsche support this libertarian nonsense and it harms society and helps bourgeoisie interests.

i am not tywin. he is a close friend of mine and we just have very close opinions. i do disagree with him on some things like putin though, as i think he is bourgeoisie to the very core and a class traitor the great soviet union.

I didn't think it was possible to be more fanatical than Tywin. Incredible. ._.

I have been known to say that I have religion baggage. Personally, I don't know whether or not God exists, which I guess makes me agnostic.

What I do know is that some of the most manipulative and terrible people I've come across in this world claimed to know God. The idea that believers can basically do whatever they want as long as they repent is such a disservice to mankind. I would feel much better and safer if people took responsibility for their actions and learned and grew as a result rather than repenting and likely repeating the behavior with few or no repercussions.

It is also difficult for me to buy into a theory that involves a higher being giving a shit about what I do and how I do it. I mean I'm a speck of dust in the universe.

All that being said if someone is religious that's fine. I personally see it similar to astrology or someone who believes in fairies or mermaids. All of these are things I know nothing about. Each could hold the secret for eternal happiness. What do I know? Nothing.

I see it as a lack of honest remorse for one's own sins doesn't entitle forgiveness. Can't B.S. the all-knowing and such.
