Kastor (Old Account)
There is this problem I've been thinking of for awhile. The problem of new nations joining, who'd rather not join an alliance. They have 0 chance. The best they could do is maybe get their 2nd city, maybe 500 infra in both before they get come off beige. Once they are off of beige, they have no chance, 99% they will get raided and all their hard work will be destroyed. This needs to be fixed, so those nations who want to be alone can grow and not be destroyed and penalized by not joining an alliance. So you want a portion of players that are completely safe from any type of harm,a place where people can farm their pixels in peace? What happens when that player then decides to take that advantage and flip the switch to become some war machine? So all the other poor bastards that had to fight their way up the ladder are just crapped on? No. we can NOT have that. Magicboyd25
Yeah I think that would destroy the game and would destroy the POLITICS and WAR part of the game. So nah I think it is perfectly fine. They want to not be destroyed they should join an alliance.

Director
Perhaps there should be a way to encourage them to join an alliance, or at least make it clear that bad things will happen if they do not join an alliance? Say, some kind of notifications that says "You should join an alliance, else you'll get raided?" Or better yet, make joining an alliance a part of the tutorial. At least this way, newer, players would know that it is a good idea to be in an alliance. Edited March 24, 2015 by Director Quote http://7kingdoms.net/skrp/ ^Forum based nation building RP. Rodney McKay
This is a NATION sim, not an ALLIANCE sim. It really isn't a nation sim at all, the hint is in the title, Politics & War. Kadin
There are so many incentives for joining an alliance in this game. Not only do they have the basic incentives (protection, growth, community,) but there is also the color stock bonus. Trying to go solo in this game is already at a disadvantage, so why would we want to change that now? This game is basically geared toward alliances. We ought to be trying to get more newbies to join 'em. It doesn't help that certain alliances don't want to bother building up their members, and instead opt to scare the smaller nations into withdrawing their applications. That's just lazy leadership. Grillick
Maybe you should work on making allies and not enemies.I have no interest in being allies with the 99%, nor should any self-respecting alliance. EDIT: That said, this is an OOC thread, not an IC one. I just think it's important to make it clear what we're talking about. This is a problem that exists because the international community in this game has decided to tolerate this sort of behavior. It's not a game mechanics problem, it's a political one, if it's a problem at all. Alice Lune
The developers could, for example, make random events, such as: 1) Aliens possessed the bodies of alliance leaders, kicking off all members except those in the executive seats from the alliances, making whole alliances prey to raiders, in other words, the newbies without alliances are safer since they're in a flood of unalligned nations. Let's say the kicked nations can't rejoin any alliances for 3 days? 2) Newbies get random freedom fighters or superheroes when attacked by a larger nation for the first time. Randomized chance of getting Rambo, The Cook (steven seagal), Superpantiesman, Unidentified Flying Uniforms, Magical Girls (mahou shoujo), Gozilla, Ion Cannon, Ironman, Power Rangers or some old man waving a placard saying "Will work for peace!" Or maybe a bunch of businesses coming forward to automatically turn the war to 'Truce' by slapping the offender's face with some stacked dollars. 3) Newbies get random cash donations for their first or second time attacked to rebuild their nations, now that they know the dangers of being alone with no friends Edited March 24, 2015 by Alice Lune

Alice Lune
No no, you misunderstand me. Nobody said anything about defending. This will just be some randomized characters coming into the war for their own gains, only once. It will not actually save the newbie, it's just to reduce the damage such a war will yield. Among such random characters is this girl: Edited March 24, 2015 by Alice Lune
