[Bug] Flawed randomness

There are a number of exclusionary conditions from that page. For example, to show up there, alliances must have:

  • Accepting New Members enabled
  • Have a recruitment message different from the default message
  • Have at least 50,000 score

These conditions are in place, because before we had them we had a ton of dead alliances (people who sign up, create a nation, make an alliance, and then never play again) and it made the page not very useful at all. If a new player applies for a dead alliance that they find on that page, they'll likely not end up joining, get raided into oblivion, and quit the game. It's really important that new players end up in good quality alliances, otherwise player retention is abysmal.

So to answer your bug report, I don't see any reason to believe there's a bug happening. The qualifying alliances are pulled and displayed at random.

The text on the linked page says "This page will display a random 12 alliances [...]", however with a few refreshes it becomes glaringly obvious that alliances have varying chances to appear and many do not appear there at all.

Since your own nation bulletin is against either Discord or Slack (I couldn't tell which), I suggest you go here:  https://forum.politicsandwar.com/index.php?/forum/45-alliance-recruitment/    and create a thread where you announce your alliance webpage and/or alliance forums.  You'll get the old school yet active players you are looking for.

That is what I mean. "This page will display random 12 alliances that you can apply to join" implies unbiased randomness, I think dropping a word like "qualified", "recommended" or similar in there would help make the page's purpose more transparent (if I were actually looking for a good alliance to join, and the page said the shown alliances are random, then I would assume most of them are trash).

@Aglet Guyn I do not mark a post as [Bug] to talk about nation bulletins but because I myself felt fooled by this feature.

Sorry for the late answer.
