I have however two things I wish to note with API keys: Currently you have to pay to change your API key. Although it's only one credit, and it's not that much, it doesn't make sense that anyone should ever have to pay to change their API key. People might see it, they can share it with someone who abuses it... Years ago we made Flags changes free, I think it makes a lot more sense to make an API key (which has more use than a flag) changeable for free. I'm sure people don't change their API key every week so this should be a non issue and should realistically not severely cut in anyone's revenue (and if it does, we have a different problem). API keys get shared to other people. This is a fact that multiple people who make bots know. Only a select few Orbisians make bots, everyone has API keys. Optimally people should be able to "transfer" their api calls to someone else, with the ability to revoke it at any time (or even have to be re-confirmed every month). This will make it so that people can safely share their API calls with others without risking any abuse in the future. I get point two might be hard, and might not be worth the effort.
