Show More/Hide button does not work

Adrienne, Master of Hacks was somehow able using her supreme hack skills, disabled the Show More/Hide link on her nation page so now we cant see beyond her first 3 cities.

I am on to you Adrienne!  Your IQ level cheating will not go unpunished!

 

(note if its not obvious i am joking about the hacking part, but the button legit doesnt work, we had multiple people confirm it.)

Something in the nation description is the source of the problem, likely an image. I am having our developer work on debugging why this sometimes breaks the javascript on the page.

@Adrienne I think that there is something about your second image that is causing the issue. You could try re-saving and re-adding the file, and that may fix this issue.

Like I said, the developer and I are trying to figure out why this happens - as it has been happening (albeit very infrequently) sporadically.

I didn't upload anything special though. All my city images are in-game images. I tried reselecting them and the issue is still there.

Is it to do with the images in the nation description? They have weird super long image addresses, if that's even what those are. I'm talking about these ones...

Will try it. I uploaded them directly though, so idk why that'd be the issue.

Maybe so, but they're certainly weird. They don't seem to specify a domain host, and copy pasting the first one into Microsoft Word reveals it's over 274,000 characters long!

Maybe backup your current nation description then try replacing the first image with http://i.imgur.com/2VHxoOl.png and the second with http://i.imgur.com/Mo895cC.png and see if the page behaviour is improved, it will at least rule out these unusual inline images as the problem.

It's working now that I've switched back to imgur but that's kinda weird that uploading the images directly would stop the show/hide button from working.

Did you use the links I shared? Because I see that your images aren't working...

You have to use 'http' and not 'https' for Imgur links. So use:

http://i.imgur.com/2VHxoOl.png

http://i.imgur.com/Mo895cC.png

Seems if you copy those links to your clipboard it will paste them as 'https' and not 'http', so double check what you've got in your nation description. Double check your nation page using private browsing so your browser isn't just using a cached image (which is why it might appear to be working for you, but actually not visible to others visiting your nation page).

See, this is exactly why I switched to doing it the other way in the first place... >.<

Yes, it's using http instead of https. It's still not working again, so I'm just gonna go back to the other way. @Alex, you should take a look at this cause this shouldn't be happening.

Really? I just tested one on my own nation page and it appears to work.

I wouldn't recommend using Imgur, as they tend to block their images from showing up on P&W's site.

The images when uploaded directly through the editor are encoded and included in the page. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, but we have noticed sporadically that some images seem to break javascript on the rest of the page, which is why the show/hide button isn't working.

I'm pretty sure that in this case, the image that is causing the problem is this one: 

Try removing it from your nation description, and then re-saving and see if that fixes the problem.

As I said, the developer and I are trying to figure out how an image can break javascript on the rest of the page anyway.

I tried removing the second one and, before readding it again, checked the page and it was still broken. Removed the first one and it worked. Readded the second one and left the first off and it worked. So it's the first one. Reuploading it didn't fix it though. It still breaks the page.

Thanks for letting me know - I was wrong then in what I figured was causing the issue. I really don't know what it is about your first image that breaks javascript for the whole page (but lets the image show up fine.)
