The Battle Begins

Recommended Posts

Immediately following the Rokkenjima News Report, the angry protesters of various species began to turn violent. The impact of the now violent protests was felt the hardest in Rokkenjima's major cites - Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Pyongyang, Beijing, and Shanghai. There was property damage, of course. Shattered windows, broken-in doors, and even some flipped cars here and there lined the streets. Soon after, however, it began to dawn on people the magnitude of the situation they were now in. There were now large groups of people throughout the country acting out in spite of their government. For the first time, Rokkenjima was in conflict with itself.

The people realized that between the widespread protests, and Rokkenjima's interspecies military, that this could be their one and only opportunity to seize power for themselves. Upon this realization, all hell broke loose. It isn't known what side attacked first, but in an instant, the first blood of the conflict had been shed as Rokkenjima's various species turned on each other. Although most of their anger was directed at the witches near the beginning, especially after the Witch Council had enlisted nearly 28,000 more witches into the military, it was now a free-for-all. Without any weapons or military intervention, humans had the greatest disadvantage. They were easy targets for any vampires, demons, and witches they came across.

Many people began to take shelter anywhere they could manage. This usually meant taking over any building that was close to them, and fighting inside until the dominant species remained. No one was spared, even innocent civilians who hadn't participated in the protests. The bloody fighting would continue nonstop well into the afternoon. Despite the large number of deaths throughout the nation, none of the sides could manage to gain much territory for themselves. The most they could do without any weapons or military assistance was capture small buildings. Any large buildings experienced floor-to-floor fighting, where different species controlling multiple floors was common.

The Witch Council looked down on the ensuing chaos from atop an undisclosed building in Tokyo. They exchanged some glances, but no words, as if they were completely aware of this outcome beforehand. They had ceased communication with the Rokkenjima Armed Forces, with the exception of the witch division, leaving everyone else completely in the dark. Members of the military stationed across the nation witnessed the chaos as it aired on RNN. With no new orders coming in from the Witch Council, they realized they were on their own. They were now free to make any decision they saw fit, and soon, they would.

Mt.Fuji District

With reports of Rokkenjima's riots turning deadly and the threat of the Britannian controlled Mt. Fuji district in the heart of this conflict reports were going back and forth between Pendragon and the Mt. Fuji district. While the 1,000 man garrison have moved to full combat readiness plan have also been put into place to attempt to either evacuate or get in contact with the Witch Council to get an explanation. For the time being both Mt.Fuji District and Pendragon have been attempting to contact the witch council to get an explanation or at the very least secure the Mt.Fuji district from the conflict that has essentially started.

The civilian population and workers have already begun to prepare for evacuation, this evacuation while has to destination, would be out of reach from Rokkenjima. To aid in the extraction 1 Britannian Cruiser has been sent from Britannia to aid in the mission. While reports are still coming in, the Mt.Fuji district has been closed to all traffic except Britannian, all travel to Rokkenjima and from has also been closed, and efforts to extract Britannian civilians has begun. Any citizens should report to the Mt. Fuji district as soon as possible with proper ID and avoid public places.

More updates will follow.

Dusk had arrived before long. At this point, the interspecies forces that made up the seemingly former Rokkenjima Armed Forces were still hours away. Although Rokkenjima was populated by various species, Japan had always had a majority witch population. The Witch Council was all too aware of this fact. Indeed, it was a large factor in their decision to bolster the number of witches in the Rokkenjima Armed Forces in the weeks leading up to this nationwide revolt.

The Witch Council, additionally, was aware of the legitimate threat that the de facto leaders of each species could pose. Both Commander Satan - former leader of Ente Isla's Demon Army, and General Esdeath - leader of the Jaegers, had prior experience with leading their own armies. In fact, the Rokkenjima Armed Forces had been meticulously designed to act as the leaders of Rokkenjima should the government be unable or unwilling to rule. The Council knew the exact locations of these two, as well as other popular individuals within each species. Commander Satan and his Generals Alciel and Lucifer were stationed in the former country of North Korea. General Esdeath, the Jaegers, and Night Raid were stationed in South Korea. The vampires, although their leader was less certain, mainly reside in Manchuria.

It was for these reasons that the Witch Council knew they could secure Japan with relative ease. Between the time it would take to arrive in Japan, and the likely hostilities that would occur between each species, Japan already belonged to the witches. Perhaps this was the reason why the number of witches taking part in the ensuing chaos was almost none. They knew the other sides would either destroy each other, or completely exhaust themselves waiting for their respective military forces which would never come. Instead, the witches would focus their energy on an entirely separate entity - the Britannian colony within Japan itself.

Many hours had passed with no response to Britannia's repeated attempts to contact the Witch Council. Finally, however, someone responded. It was a message intended directly for the Britannian Emperor himself. "Greetings, Emperor Lelouch. I am sure you are fully aware of who this is. That is right, the Golden and Endless Witch Beatrice. It is with great regret that I inform you we will have to wait a while longer before our respective countries can work together as promised. I am certain you understand. In the meantime, however, I would like to apologize for what is about to happen next." With that, the message abruptly ended.

The amount of dread was palpable in the Mt. Fuji district as the sun began to set. Most could probably assume that if an attack was coming, it would likely occur after dark. This thought, however, was suddenly interrupted by the sight of a lone man leading a reasonably large group of people behind him. Approaching the border to the district, the man waved his arms and shouted in an attempt to get the attention of the Britannian border patrol. "Heeeeey!"

Upon hearing the news in Rokkenjima, the quarantined public cried for intervention to save human life.

The Queen, eager to put some force on the witches, ordered SOF to start operations in Rokkenjima and help rebellious forces.

The 13th Recon Flotilla is taken out of quarantine and sent with transports to pick up strictly human refugees. The ships are ordered to defend the transports at all costs.
Queen Alice sends Witch Beatrice a telegram. It reads,

"Shalom,

This is Queen Alice of the Kingdom of Israel. I have dispatched the Israeli 13th Recon Flotilla to Rokkenjima to pick up human refugees from China and Japan.

Do not attempt to hinder this, as my ships are ordered to protect human life at all costs. Stopping the Flotilla will bring the full might of the Kingdom of Israel and her Commonwealth down on you.

If you do not interfere, we will have no issues. We are willing to make adjustments to make this comfortable but humans that wish to leave Rokkenjima will be allowed or Israeli forces will attack.

Mind you, any witches snuck aboard Israeli ships will be dumped at sea. There are armed guards on each transport to guard them and maintain order on the way back to Israel. Other species will be dropped off in Durotar and Britannia with the respective government's approval.

Any questions?"

With that sent, Queen Alice realizes this very well could cause war and she notifies the Dukes and Duchess' of every Duchy in the Kingdom to ready their troops, despite the virus. Social distancing is still in effect and soldiers are instructed to wash hands often.

The 1st and 7th Flotillas are positioned in Saudi ports, ready to sail to Japan at a minute's notice.

It wouldn't be Britannia's first time on the opposite end of a Rokkenjima rifle, prior experience would be a double-edged sword. Lelouch knowing the devious nature of the Witches and in particular Eva-Beatrice would be tricky to counter-predict. Nonethless, Britannia had already dispatched their frigate to aid in the extraction of Britannian from Mt. Fuji. Alongside this, Britannia had issued the "Shoot-On-Sight" order to any and all Rokkenjma personal who approach the Mt.Fuji district including civilians.

The District would only need to hold out for a few hours for reinforcements to arrive. With the early departure and setup thankfully buying Britannia precious time Mt.Fuji would be prepared for the attack. Multiple layers of defence, border patrols and traps layed out in preparation for a brutal fight. The order would be broadcasted over the district, both to bolster the morale of the Britannians, and attempt to turn away Rokkenjima. This would be the ultimate test for the Mt.Fuji district.

Meanwhile at the border a shout was heard near the border. The sizeable force following the sound put the source of the noise on the spotlight. "By order of his majesty, Emperor Lelouch you are considered a threat!" This call was followed by multiple troops taking a firing stance and preparing to fire their arms as well as call in mortar support. Overkill did not exist at a time like this.

The corporation began patrols of the Indian Ocean past the Malacca, observing what could be gained by shipping to estimate weapons being unloaded to the civil war. The corporation had no specific side being supported currently, but maintaining a magical presence allowed for the company to utilize more entertaining conflict rather than the same storyline that has been repeated.

Corporate drones would expand their reach as far as possible to keep an eye on the logistics of the theater. It was important to push inventory upon the various factions but ensure it was balanced in their favor, the government was given priority. It was required that they remained in charge of East Asia over other options, and forcing decolonization was a priority. The Air Force would regularly patrol local skies, the Med being closed to foreign transit unwilling to admit to boarding and testing. Vessels that did not meet company standards would be removed from the sea by any means needed. Their next move was close at hand it was simply a matter of who should lose first.

Seeing the outbreak of violence in Rokkenjima, the United Provinces of Southeast Asia has elected to convert the northern Philippine Island of Luzon into a refugee port for those fleeing Rokkenjima. Refugee centers with good conditions have been set up by the navy for each nation involved and an aircraft and corvette have been deployed to the Mt. Fuji district to evacuate Britannian civilians, they will arrive in twenty minutes, much more quickly than Britannian relief. As foreign emissaries, the vessels are generally shielded from violence. All helicopters aboard the carrier have been deployed to evacuate refugees. Contact with UPSA forces will remain open to all nations and entities, including rebels in Rokkenjima. All are welcome to request aid. Not all will receive it.

The man stopped for a moment, raising up a white flag. He shouted back to the guards. "We are not hostiles! This group behind me wishes to flee the chaos. They are under my protection until everyone has been successfully evacuated. A safe location has already been decided upon, but we must request Britannia's assistance! I've also come to deliver some intelligence regarding the witches!"

The soldiers maintained their positioning. "Do not move, if you move you will be shot! Our orders are to evacuate Britannian civilians first and foremost. If you wish to evacuate please wait for more Britannian Ships to arrive. If you approach any further we will be forced to open fire. This is your only warning." The soldiers didn't move and maintained their composure.

The governor of the district took a megaphone to also add in his input to the group. "We aren't looking for intel, we are trying to escape with as few casualties as possible. Don't make this harder for anyone. Once aid arrives we will insure everyone is able to leave, if an enemy force does arrive we will relocate you and do our best to defend you. For the moment, bring forth your leader so we may discuss evacuation procedures."

The Britannian frigate sent to aid in the evacuation was closing in to aid the district as time drew closer and closer. With more and more reports of civilians fleeing, Britannia sent 2 transport ships and 2 Cruisers to aid in the evacuation as well. These extra ships would allow more civilians to flee, but at a small time cost.

The man stepped forward cautiously, keeping an eye on the group behind him as he approached. He soon crossed the border and introduced himself to the members of the Britannian border patrol. "My name is Willard H. Wright, first-class archbishop and Chief Inquisitor of the SSVD, the 8th District Repentance Enforcement Agency of the Great Court of Heaven. In layman's terms, I am an angel. I've been sent by my superiors to ensure the safety of Rokkenjima's evacuees, and to oversee the neutral territories of Hong Kong and Macau. If Britannia is evacuating its civilians as well, these territories would be the safest places for the time being."

The soldiers eyed each other as the man came closer. However, the Britannian governor left the safety of his troops to approach the man who had so boldly approached the soldier. The man gave a light smile and held out his hand for a handshake. "If you are willing to sacrifice you life for others, I will be willing to help. We will do our best to keep you and these people safe while our evacuation arrives. Inform them to not approach the border, and we will send troops to secure their flank." the man finished before twirling his 'opium pipe'. The name is Kei Sakura, Britannia's former Japanese Govenor and current Mt. Fuji district governor.

Willard returned the handshake. "I wish our meeting could have been under better circumstances." He turned around, relaying the message to the group before turning back. "We don't have much time. Until the sun sets, if we're lucky. The witches are planning a full-on assault of the Mt. Fuji district, with the intent of subjugating it. Unfortunately, neither myself or the Britannian forces stationed here have the means to repel such an attack. If only all this didn't occur so suddenly, you may have had more time to get everyone out."

The governor upon hearing this took a small hit from his pipe as he looked at the people behind him and then towards to the docks. "If they attack at sun down we will be able to get out all the civilians and soldiers. We also won't allow the witches an easy win to taking the district." He chuckled as he walked around a bit observing the situation. "Hong Kong you say? I'll make sure we set course as soon as the ships arrive, as they are." he stopped for a second pointing to the silhouette in the distance. "Here to save us all. Get your people to the docks."

Will nodded, heading back to the group of people. He explained the situation calmly, yet loud and with authority. Upon hearing that they would be able to evacuate, the interspecies group breathed a sigh of relief. For the first time since the start of the conflict, they were able to smile. Willard led them across the border, walking for a good while until reaching the docks. Around the same time, the Britannian vessels began docking. Only moments later, a loud explosion was heard in the distance, along with some yelling. Will immediately turned around, glaring in the direction of the noise. "It would seem they're attacking earlier than expected. Everyone, board the ships as quickly and calmly as possible! I will protect you until everyone is aboard!"

The governor looked in the direction of Mt.Fuji and gave a light sigh as he looked back at the ships sending out smaller boats to allow the civilians to board. It would take some time, and with the attack already underway Britannian soldiers would have to pay the ultimate price to not only buy their own citizens time, but these refugees as well. It would not longer be certain if these soldiers or the governor himself would live to see Britannia again. "Britannian troops have already secured a perimeter around the district, they should hold the border long enough for everyone to escape. Mind the noise from the ships and I'll see you in another life." The governor gave him a light bow before making his way back to the sounds of war.

Mt. Fuji District Report

O9NZxwT.png

While Mt.Fuji District is a very important Britannian hold, it's danger of being lost was never an issue until recently. Due to the unfolding events of the Rokkenjima Civil War brewing Britannia was unable to bolster their garrison for the region. Thus 1000 soldiers were given the task to hold for as long as possible the district. While civilians evacuate the outer-rim would be held. Anywhere beyond would be loosely laced with mines while key roads and bridges leading into the area were blown up in preparation for the inevitable attack. The only bridge being kept would be the Shinkansen. However, this bridge as well would be pre-marked for destruction should it ever come near to falling into enemy hands. Multiple mortar teams and artillery pieces did exist and were placed in other pre-determined areas to allow for maximum effectiveness should an enemy being to approach the major cities in the Mt. Fuji district.

West Defensive Line:

oIFR2XV.png

Also known as the cities of Fuji and Fujinomiya. The city of Fuji serving as the first line of defense HQ along with Fujinomiya being concentrated with artillery pieces to fire at bridges and crossing enemies. Should the coast be lost the enemy would need to either attack from the north and through narrow roads in the mountains and hills where artillery would rain down on the enemy. The south while a lot more open is also a lot tougher to take with Britannia having a clear view of the enemy which allows for troops to counter any advances with a combination of artillery fire, and a bit of assistance from Britannian ships waiting to evacuate civilians.

South Defensive Line:

thc6Ipc.png

Also known as the cities of Numazu, Mishima, and Susono. These areas while a lot less defended are reinforced with 4 main entry points that are secured with checkpoints. The mountainous terrain backing the defenders to maximize the effectiveness of a small garrison. Of course, some artillery aiding in the defence from the city of Susono which would be able to fire in multiple directions all on pre-marked location. Should the cities be lost most of the defenders falling back to the mountains to fight from the high-ground. A lot less defended, but also a lot more hostile aided with the terrain and minefields also layed out.

North-East and East Defensive Lines

CExGY5k.png2LEi0qP.png

Also known as the cities of Gotemba and Fujiyoshida. While these cities are on the border the only passable roads have been secured with checkpoints and minefields. Due to the fact most of the artillery rested on the other side of the district, these areas were backed up with more crude defenses and mortars. Every 100 meters a wall of sandbags, barbed wire, and anti-tank obstacles. While all the cities had these defensives, these more northern cities had multiple layers to force an enemy into a near line to be fired upon from mortar fire from within the city. Most, if not all of the cities being extracted first and thus seeing the highest concentration of soldiers at around 550.

The idea of defence would be simple.

Defend the border to buy as much time as possible, minimum casualties expected.

Once the border has been breached, back into the cities for Urban Combat and guerilla warfare to inflict as many enemy casualties as possible for as long as possible. High casualties expected.

This would be the end game, holding the cities would be the key to holding control over the district. The great mountain itself would not be armed at all nor would it destroyed. Instead, entry points to the mining of sakuradite would be blown up and hidden to insure the valuable resource is somewhat protected. Britannian troops would be joined by an unknown amount of the local population and armed with spare supplies.

But, there would be no escape, hold out for as long as possible.

This would be the Battle for Mt.Fuji District

As the sound of explosions in the distance filled the air, the evacuees hurriedly made their way onto the docks in preparation for the ships' arrival. The first evacuations would take place at the docks in the city of Fuji. The areas surrounding the Mt. Fuji district were mountainous, and served as the perfect locations for the witches to set up mortars to fire upon the cities below. Luckily for the evacuees, it sounded as if they were only attacking from the eastern side of the district. The cities that spanned the eastern border of the district were the first to be fired upon.

95POwil.png

The priority of the mortar strikes was to weaken the Britannian fortifications along the border, and close off any escape routes they could take by targeting the buildings behind them. As the sun set and the visibility worsened, it became increasingly difficult to pinpoint the location of the mortars in the mountains. The hardest hit by these strikes would be Fujiyoshida, Gotemba, and Susono. The mountainous roads that led into these cities weren't suitable for tanks, so the goal of the witches was to do as much damage as possible before sending anyone in. Further south in the city of Numazu, the strikes were fewer and far between. Just across the border was the city of Mishima, which was already firmly in control of the witches. This was the only location along the entire eastern border of the district where tanks could easily cross, so any mortar strikes here would be done carefully to prevent the destruction of any precious routes.

After a half hour of mortar strikes, darkness finally fell over the district. It was just then that the Britannian ships had begun docking, and soon, the witches would attempt to cross the border.

Just as the opposing forces fired on Britannian fortifications Britannia retaliated by firing their artillery in the area where the enemy was suspected to be. Britannia while out-manned and trapped in a foreign land was not gonna give up without having the enemy pay dearly. The high altitude outposts Britannia was able to have in their control fielded spotters for Britannia's artillery.

9fUXYGK.pngp069AVs.png

While Rokkenjima were approaching, Britannia would fall back to another line of defence, this time behind the Kise River. The idea was to use makeshift defences along key areas of the River where enemy vehicles or armour could cross. If they were in range they'd either mark them for the artillery or simply blow the bridge they were trying to cross from under them. Any way to cross the river would be mapped out and turned into a natural defence line.

All this would occur while thousands of Britannian civilian workers, injured soldiers, and refugees would board Britannian ships to escape. These ships would do their best at signalling the fact that they are being used to help non-combatants escape. However, should they come under fire, they wouldn't hesitate to use their big guns to give the enemy a nice naval bombardment.

It was finally dark. The strikes along the eastern border had ceased temporarily for the artillery to be repositioned once the Britannian counterstrikes began. While the artillery positioned in the mountains had to be smaller and more mobile for obvious reasons, larger artillery could be used in the streets of Mishima. Here, the witches had deployed around fifty Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzers.

XHPOjLj.png

With a operational range of 155 miles, it was more than enough to strike the cities along the district's eastern border, although it had to be careful to avoid the city's buildings. Only minutes after the first strikes had stopped, more had began from Mishima, targeting Britannian artillery in Susono, Fujiyoshida, and Fujinomiya with the assistance of spotters in the mountains. The howitzers would cease firing every so often and change positions, using the buildings as cover, somewhat, to avoid Britannian counterstrikes.

CTdWvp1.png

Red = Smaller groups

Black = Main forces

While this was occurring, several hundred witches silently crossed an unguarded area of the district's northeastern border, through the town of Nakajima. Gliding swiftly through the streets, around 300 continued southwest into Gotemba. Simultaneously, another group of 300 would bypass the small defensive line along the Fuji International Speedway to continue northwest into Fujiyoshida. The goal of these two main groups was to cut off the Britannians' escape routes and engage. Two smaller groups of 50 would target the Fuji International Speedway defensive line and Ayuzawa River checkpoint.

bCnZKV1.png

The witches targeting the checkpoint along the Ayuzawa River made their way east. They split up, half crossing the bridge marked 146 to continue along the south side of the river to the checkpoint. The other half continued along the north side of the river to target the northern end of the checkpoint. Once each side was in position, the attack began. The witches were unarmed, but made up for this fact with their magical ability, creating bullets of magical energy to fire at the Britannian soldiers. None of the attacking witches were advanced enough to create bulletproof shields, so they stayed mobile, gliding around swiftly and teleporting when needed to avoid the Britannian bullets. It would only take a single well-placed shot or explosion to kill them, if they could be caught.

The group targeting the Fuji International Speedway defensive line quickly made their way through the streets of Suganuma. Half of them continued west along the Su River, while the other half continued through to the streets of Tanagashira. Their method of attack was identical to the other group. Split up and attack Britannian defenses from both sides. Once these first two attacks were successful, tanks could begin to move into the area and assist the two main groups in the northwest and south. While none of the members of the Witch Council were present in these attacks, a recent yet powerful addition to their forces would soon join the fun.

Mt Fuji District

A handful of breaches had taken place along Britannia's first defensive lines. This report would shake a few units at the news of the success of Rokkenjima's attacks, aided with their howitzer strikes Britannia was taken back by the attack, but didn't stop. While the first reports of Britannia KIAs began to come in, it was time for Britannia to hit back, and this time they would hit hard

The Britannian units holding the Northern cities would fall back into the cities themselves. What looked like a retreat was instead a ploy to lure the Rokkenjima witches into killing fields. Once they attempted to repeat their previous attacks, Britannia would be prepared this time by luring the witches into either areas near or in the city where snipers could fire at them from safety. Or they would lure the enemy into killing lanes where once Britannian troops were out of the way machine guns would be used to fire at advancing enemies.

This retreat signaled the first line of defence being given up. The order was given and every bridge connecting Rokkenjima to the Mt. Fuji district, roads, bridges, anything besides the main roads would be blown up by pre-placed explosives. Multiple strikes on these points would put immense fire on checkpoints, and entry points all around the Mt. Fuji District.

Furthermore, Britannian artillery strikes which were not sucessful up until now would begin to chart out where the enemy howitzers would fire and relocate. This would be done in an attempt to predict where the enemy would re-locate and fire on them before they could fire. This would be greatly aided by the height advantage of Mt. Fuji had over Rokkenjima. Of course, this was only until Rokkenjima would send their armour in. That's when the fun would begin.

With the Britannian forces in the north falling back into the city of Fujiyoshida, the group of 300 witches sent to capture the city quietly secured the neighboring, unguarded village of Oshino. They proceeded on, before arriving at a point overlooking the city. It was here where they would set up their main base. Should they be discovered, they could easily flee back into the mountain and possibly lure the Britannians into a vulnerable position.

IRb1Vev.png

Similar to the previous groups, none of the witches here possessed the ability to create bulletproof shields. However, instead of rushing in, a couple hundred would take shelter in the road tunnel and create projections of themselves to explore the city on foot. These projections would simply be tasked with locating the Britannian forces within the city, at which point a signal would be fired to let the remaining 100 witches know where to target with long-distance magical attacks. The projections could not be used to kill, and would be destroyed if struck or if their host was attacked. Despite being projections, however, they would still appear and sound as if they're the real thing. With the plan in place, the attack began.

Meanwhile, in the city of Gotemba, the group of 300 sent south would execute a similar attack. This time, however, the group would split up. 150 witches were tasked with distracting the Britannian force in Gotemba while the other 150 continued even further south to Susono. Upon arrival, the real attacks on these cities would begin, using the same tactics as the group in Fujiyoshida. Finally, even further south along the Numazu-Mishima border, the witches suddenly stormed the border with overwhelming numbers. The first wave, of course, were also projections. They were sent in to take hits while making the Britannians waste large amounts of ammunition in the process.

Once the Britannians would start to realize they weren't real, real ones would be sent forward, mixed in with the projections. With the real witches able to attack and inflict damage, it was the hope of the forces in Mishima that the Britannians would be pushed back enough for them to safely repair any destroyed bridges with magic, allowing their armor to cross the border. Doing so would pose much risk to witches tasked with repairs, as they would be vulnerable while using their magic for this purpose. They would, however, still be backed up by witches and tanks located on the Mishima side of the border. While the forces sent across the border from the north were much smaller in number, those stationed in Mishima were estimated to be around 3,000. It would only be a matter of time before the numbers finally won out.

Mt. Fuji District

"The situation today has changed, we've spent hours buying time for the ships to leave, and we have done that now. It's now time we made the witches hurt. The North West defence lines will be relocated to assist in defending the Rokkenjima push in the East. Since Rokkenjima has failed on attacking the West, we will insure that crossing will be near impossible, while we can tolerate a few ground forces, the East has too much of an issue of the possibly of armour. "

"It's time for Phase 2" - Governor Kei Sakura

Understanding that the witches were using projections was very clear once introduced, for the North East. However, there was no way around taking the risk or not, so they had to be treated as live targets. With this power, and lack of resources Britannia began to employ different tactics as they were slowly pushed back. Gotemba and Susono would be nearly abandoned by the time the witches would arrive. A handful of Britannian Troops would offer light resistance in order to lure the main force into the city before firing off flares calling in Britannian artillery strikes on the advancing witches. Everything would be carefully done, these troops would be giving up their lives to insure Rokkenjima took the bait and paid dearly for it.

The situation was different at the Mishima border. As they were closer to the docks, they were more than willing to exhaust bullets and shells on the enemy. Since the border was a lot more open, it was also a lot harder to maintain a solid line. Instead, as Britannia held their line they would be setting up tank barriers and minefields within the city. This would not only stall armor when and if it were to cross, but also force Rokkenjima to give up their cover from the city into the open where they could be easily fired at from artillery. This was still Britannia's advantage that Rokkenjima couldn't have. If they wanted to advance, they couldn't do anything about Britannia's artillery, since it was behind their lines, even if they tried, Britannia's front lines would be a lot closer to strike back. While this position was very favorable to inflict damage, Britannia was also preparing to withdraw in the event their flanks were broken.

With the artillery located in Fujiyoshida likely destroyed or almost destroyed, the next to target would be the artillery that was located in Susono. The witches who had arrived in Gotemba and Susono took notice of the unusually low number of soldiers present. With the projections locating these soldiers, and the subsequent firing of flares and artillery strikes, it was decided to continue using the expendable projections until the remaining Britannian forces were wiped out. Once Gotemba and Susono were secured, the next objectives would be to locate and destroy the remaining Britannian artillery, and make a push south to surround Numazu.

To the southwest of Susono, a group of snakes was quickly slithering their way through the wilderness. At some point, they came across the Britannian artillery that had previously been located in Susono. The snakes then began to multiply, into what must have been at least 100. Collectively, they struck the Britannian soldiers in the area, injecting a powerful venom through bites on their legs. Some of the snakes were shot, but it didn't stop more from appearing. They slithered through the tiniest openings in the artillery, attacking the soldiers inside the vehicles as well. After several minutes, the area went quiet. The snakes gathered once more and continued their way south.

Although located along the western border of the district, the cities of Fujinomiya and Fuji weren't spared from the earlier artillery strikes. Many of the buildings had been destroyed, and multiple areas of the cities were burning. It was here, as well as many other areas along the district's western border, that a large force separate from the witches crossed the border. While the Britannians were most focused on defending the eastern border, they made their move. They infiltrated the district, attacking anyone they encountered and quickly moved on. They were vampires, and it didn't take long before they secured the western side of the district.

Not too much later, as the witches in Gotemba and Susono began to move south to Numazu, the group of snakes had arrived in Fuji. They approached the area of the docks, and began to transform. It was the witch known as Medusa Gorgon who had just taken her humanoid form. Willard noticed the presence of the witch right away, drawing his sword and preparing to fight. The governor of the Mt. Fuji district wasn't far, and the last of the ships were ready to leave. Medusa chuckled, slowly approaching the docks. As she was, a group of vampires appeared from the west, led by their leader - a short girl with long pink hair and red eyes.

Will glared between each of them as the witch and the vampire turned their attention to each other. Not a single word was spoken between the two as they each began to attack the other. The fighting was intense right from the start, indicating that the two of them were among the most powerful of their respective species. As they continued fighting near the docks, another clash would soon begin in Numazu. The Britannians were sandwiched between witches on both sides, as well as a group of vampires approaching from the west. Any question of allegiance in the Britannians' minds was soon answered as the witches and vampires started fighting with each other, while they were caught right in the middle. Back in Fuji, while each side was distracted with each other, Will had slipped past them to find the governor as fast as possible.

Mt Fuji District

Britannian Forces were on the run, two different sides were now closing in. However, this didn't mean Britannia was out of the fight. Despite the North now officially fallen to outside forces Britannia's troops were slowly but surly relocating towards the docks and the city of Fuji. Reports were coming in that a different sides was also engaging the witches, though due to their entry into Mt. Fuji district, and no previous contact being made all contacts were considered hostile.

So far Britannia had managed to starve off losing any major confrontations. It was a few picks here and there though any units behind the withdraw point were more than likely KIA. However, now Britannia was taking a bit more of a hit, with the loss of a small unit of artillery and soldiers the order was given to concentrate all artillery units to concentrate in the city of Fuji. Soldiers were now given the order to form a defensive line around the city of Fuji and the docks. This was Britannia's last resort to defend. Almost eight hundred soldiers had made it to the final defence line. With the rest meeting an unknown fate. It was time for Britannia's faceoff.

It wasn't known what happened to the troops who were left behind. They were ready to fight to the end however, no one would surrender and no one would be captured. The entire plan was to buy time and minimize casualties, and that's exactly what Britannia was doing. Everything was going according to plan, minus the fact the docks were under threat now.

It was now around 3 in the morning. The witches were now engaging groups of vampires all over the district. In Fuji, the fighting never let up between the vampires' leader and Medusa. They traded blows, each of them seemingly evenly matched. The vampire's name was Krul Tepes, and she was recognized as one of the possible candidates for leader of the vampires by the Witch Council. At some point during the fight, however, Medusa realized something. "The fact that this girl is here as opposed to China must mean she's not affiliated with them." She thought to herself. As Medusa jumped back to avoid an attack, Krul swung her arm upward, creating a large fissure in the ground that shook the surrounding area. Medusa narrowly avoided the attack, taking a breather as she glared in Krul's direction. Their continued fighting only contributed to the rising tension and fear of the civilians on the ships.

Meanwhile, the remaining Britannian forces began to converge in the city of Fuji. Although the witches had yet to reach the city, the Britannians weren't safe from vampire attacks. Almost as soon as they arrived, they immediately came under attack from the creatures. The vampires rushed the Britannians. Their lack of fear was backed up by their immortality, although still vulnerable to a vampire's usual weaknesses. As the sounds of war filled the city, Willard had finally located the district's governor. "Hey! We have to get moving now! The ships are ready to leave and enemy forces are at the docks."
