Hey, I saw that the Yearly Awards were pulled. Would just like to say that if anyone was telling Alex that our awards were the "official" ones or anything of the sort then you can kiss my ass. I've done everything I can to make these a fun unofficial thing. Also, if OD leadership is gonna come around and shit-talk this event and blame all their hardships on it they can direct it at me and me first. Thanks ❤️

I talked shit about it, and not in a public space like the forum. But yeah, go ahead, keep shit talking OD.

Most of the discussion has revolved the concept of picking winners on certain criteria. How about making it not about anyone winning in particular and each group could present its opinions about unaffiliated alliances they'd consider for each?  So someone not affiliated with coalition B  but with Coalition A would pick 2 between those.  Someone not aligned with either would pick one of each for each category. Someone from Coalition B would pick two from Coalition A. If the motivation is to have a community event, then this way of doing it where people have to evaluate other groups might be beneficial and would eliminate the concern of there being an invalidation of the popular vote.

I feel like this wouldn't avoid attempts at sabotage. Either Coalition might pick the least relevant member alliances of each Coalition to pick so that the prominent, outspoken 'enemy' alliances don't get the awards, even if they'd deserve them more. And then you'd also run into issues of who from each Coalition you'd pick to do the nominations and that'd just turn into an absolute mess.

I haven't read through the entire thread, just the first page or so, but I'm gonna throw in my two cents. I can see where everyone is coming from with their criticisms of both systems of awards, there is obviously no perfect solution so why can't we just let them coexist? Hope specifically pointed out that this whole other system was just for fun so that the community could be more involved with developing the actual awards rather than some random person just picking the categories. For me personally, I missed the period for nominations and voting in the official awards, which I was disappointed about, so I saw Hope's system as a fun chance to get involved in the awards and involved in the community. I don't think it's as politically undermining as people are trying to make it out to be. To my knowledge, the people organizing this never attempted to establish themselves as the official awards of the Orbis over the ones that were done in the forums. I think the system is fair - alliances can't nominate themselves and the nominations are done in private. This alleviates political pressure to nominate only your alliance or your coalition as a show of good faith to your allies and actually allows the nominations to be based on consideration and thoughtfulness. I think the Coalitions need to put down their hatred of one another for a hot sec and recognize awards for what they are supposed to be - a chance for the community to come together outside of the battlefield and appreciate all the crazy things we've done together over the past year. ?‍♀️

I see that GPWC isn't on the list of qualifying alliances.

Huh, I wonder why the aristocracy would not want to include the number 1 alliance in the game.

Read the second post, I guess is

- Alliances considered extensions of other qualifying alliances do not qualify

I don't really care either way about the rewards, but you must be a pretty miserable person to take offense over a secondary, unofficial award ceremony! I sure am happy I don't have that much emotional investment over a nation sim!

This is why people can’t have nice things like in-game rewards. Rigged polls, rigged processes & rigged nomination processes; yet people cling to the flawed initial poll as the gold standard & only result which matters. Rather than trying to make it as perfect as possible by fixing everything wrong with it, so we don’t have many competing flawed awards with only those who won really happy with the first polls & most apathetic or against it being made official in-game.
