Popular Post dtc justice
So currently when you run out of food you only loose 1/3 of your income. In a long global war this really doesn't have much impact once everyone has 400-800 infra per city. I have been sitting at 0 food for 2 months and it really doesn't affect me much. I believe that having 0 food should bill lock a nation the same way as not having any cash or power in your nation. With this change, it would actually change the dynamics of war quite a bit, and I believe in a good way. During the nuclear phases of the war causing mass drought, food could actually become a factor in the long attrition of a global war. Lancer
I certainly think that a change in the way having 0 food is needed. I have been in favor of it immobilizing certain aspects of military (because an army marches on its stomach) in addition to reducing resource production significantly (its hard for citizens to work on empty stomachs) and a more severe income cut. As it stands going to zero food is more a minor inconvenience then something to avoided. It would certainly change the way that people looked at wars. Viselli
Piggybacking off what @Lancer said I think 0 food should disable all spy and military abilities except for launching missiles/nukes. As he said an army marches on its stomach and if your soldiers cant eat, they cant fight. Missiles and Nukes don't necessarily need troops to use so they should still be accessible.
Arawra
I think this would be an even bigger (and unnecessary) inconvenience to new players during major wars, there are better alternatives to increase attrition, some ideas have already been pushed forward by Prefontaine. Lancer
It wont really be an inconvenience at all if they are a part of an alliance or start with a food boost. As to whether or not Prefontaine's suggestions are better... well, that's all up to opinion.
dtc justice
Well we could bypass the new nations and have food changes happen once you hit city 10 or something
