After nearly 5 years of hell and Shifty, 12/29/2019 will mark 5 years of Shifty on P/W.

In just 11 turns, Shifty returns to begin the transition into 5 years of Shifty and an updated skill set:

Patch notes are as follows:

Shifty is not the most talented character in the team. He does have the ability to do a great deal of damage with his ability, but that's just it, Shifty doesn't have the ability to do much. He's only got two attacks that do damage, a ranged attack, and a melee attack. He can use his ability to attack from a distance, but his attacks only do half damage. His speed is only average, he takes some damage and is a little slow. His health is average, he can take some hits, but his health bar will decrease quickly. The thing is, Shifty has a lot going for him. The first thing is his ability. He's a melee fighter, which is a good position in a team. You want to have melee fighters on the team, especially if it's a team that's focusing on one particular team mate, like a tank or an archer. The second thing that makes Shifty interesting is his play style. He's a tank, but with his ultimate, he can push forward and engage and be aggressive in team fights. His ultimate can really help him and his team get the first kills, so the lane will be pushing in the early levels and it's really good for his team."

"It's kind of hard for Shifty to do the same thing twice because when you have a melee champion, you're not the best at engaging. Shifty needs to do something in the early game to help his team, and that's the ultimate. I feel like when people say this is a good melee carry, they think of Shifty. They think of a player who does a lot of CC, has a high damage ability, and who is just a threat to his team. But what we realized with him is that Shifty is much more than that.

It's also important for a melee champion to be able to engage in lane. This means that your skills should make you good at engaging, but also make you good at disengaging from the fight if necessary.

What's the role of Shifty's abilities and skills when it comes to engaging?
 

Shifty's skills can be used to do the following:

-Counters/Disarms/Steals enemy abilities

-Can damage enemy minions

-Can heal allied minions

-Can attack enemy buildings

-Can attack enemy minions or structures

-Can cast spells on enemy minions and structures

-Can attack and/or use items on enemy minions and buildings

-Can attack enemy heroes, buildings, and items

-Can defend allied minions from enemy attack

-Can use Shifty's passive to provide an extra level of defence

 

Can Shifty be silenced?

Shifty can be silenced in two ways:

-If a player kills Shifty, and the silenced Shifty gets a kill on a hero, the silenced Shifty does not get a kill.

-If Shifty takes damage
