The future of Orbis in 2142

Recommended Posts

Shifty has long warned everyone of the machine uprising in 2142 for as long as he can remember.

This leads us to our 4th thread on the future of Orbis.

What will you be doing when the game hits the year 2142?

Also at the time of this thread:

  • July 19 09:47 pm
    Next turn in 0:13
April 8, 2042 Permanent Winter: -50% food production

What do you think you'll be doing on April 8th, 2042 at 9:47pm irl?

The year is 2142

The only alliances left in orbis are NPO and BK

NPO still hasn't gone to war with BK

Any time a new player joins NPO has a panic attack and declares war to remove the possible threat to their existence

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only roq

It's amazing that the ingame date is 2042, yet we don't even have satellites, and we're still using the same super outdated planes and stuff.

It's almost as if the god who made our world just doesn't care, or is too busy making forum rules no one likes and can't be bothered to improve our world.

I think Arrgh & similar alliances might spread, as an age of Anarchy spreads & breakdown of most organized alliances. New libertarian monarchy alliance might exist, bringing unity among the anarchists against those who become a continued nuisance to the disorder & anarchy of the word.

Or I might just be buying another nuke in preparation of whatever big war is coming next then.

I still like how adroitly the old hegemony has made this about a possible new hegemony that hasn't even formed yet and doesn't want to form for the obvious reasons (ends up getting rolled).

Gotta keep protecting their meta.

Inst has 50 trillion to his name, and was recently banned for trying to RMT it back into real currency for the approximate value of 1.5 million dollars. Of course, due to the collapse of the dollar, this is enough to buy you one Big Mac.

@TheNG and all his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and assorted clones and pleasure droids will get rolled repeatedly.

That is his fate, afterall.

2142. The next civilization finds nothing but ruins. They attempt to set up new footholds in the ruined landscape but start to hear chatters in the night. A new settler finds a worn book in an old mine. The book is written in a dead language and it simply reads:

"We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and Second Hall. Frár and Lóni and Náli fell there bravely while the rest retreated to Mazarbul. We still hold the chamber but hope is fading now. Óin’s party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin -- we cannot get out. The end comes soon. We hear drums, drums in the deep." "They are coming..."

The chattering in the night grows louder as whatever is out there grows nearer to the new camp. Walls have been constructed using existing structures, but when the time comes they are no match for what scurries over them. On the thirteenth night of the new settlement the first roq-bot breaches the perimeter, followed by dozens more. The hills become littered with movement, their metallic clicking becoming nothing more than white noise, buzzing like the static of a forgotten channel.

When the light breaks on the 14th day, the new settlement is no more. All that is left is the book. No bodies or any trace of the settlers can be found. Camera pans to the open book. A new entry, written in red on the last page, can be seen. "The way is shut. it was made by those who are Roq, and the Roq keep it, until the time comes. The way is Shut."

Probably fighting TKR again.

This. But also probably based on logs that can't be shown again.

Imagine looking at something Inst posts and being like "Man this guy gets it".
