The Fall of Anthropomorphia

After centuries of thriving as the only country in Orbis with a population made up of animals of different species, The Creature's Republic of Anthropomorphia is no more. Feeling discriminated against due to laws passed by Anthropomorphia's revered leader Alpha Dog prohibiting most of the dirty habits pigs engaged in, the pigs of the country rallied pigs all over the world to help them initiate what historians now refer to as the "Aporkalypse". They engineered a powerful strain of swine flu that infected and eventually killed every mammal that wasn't a pig, boar, hog, or hippo (out of respect to Buorhann, whose research helped them create the disease). The few mammals that were able to avoid being infected on the day the flu was released quickly fled to other countries, but Alpha Dog was not a part of that lucky few, and he was replaced as leader by the similarly named Alpha Pig. Alpha Pig has renamed the country Porkistan, and despite an almost unanimous condemnation from other countries for its act of biological warfare, easily the worst in Orbis history, Porkistan remains an active member of global affairs and trade, albeit one with a weakened bargaining position due to the depletion of its population and economy. The fall of Anthropomorphia is a tragedy not just because of how it happened but because it means the only country in the world where every species lived in relative harmony, where dogs, cats, predators, and prey could live and work together, is no more, and it's unlikely that we'll ever see something like it ever again.
