The Failed Darien Scheme

To very many, the attempt of Scotland attempting a trade empire in history may be completely lost to them. There were numerous problems with the attempt, not including the struggle with England. In 1690, Scotland attempted to create Caledonia, a new colony in the Panama, while attempting to create a trade empire under the name of Scottish Darien Company. In an attempt to appear more in the worlds eye, the Queen had sent a representative to Masrani Globl (then the Allied States of America), to request protection from the British Internationale, and to request their permission to restart their old colony in Caledonia. The colony was located in the Panama, but not on the Canal, ensuring the Allied States still controlled it. It was agreed that Scotland could re-assert their claim on the colony, as long as they treated the locals properly and would promise to assist the protection of the Canal. Since both countries were already agreeing to a military pact to where they could move on each others land, there was no complaint from Scotlands decision. The locals wouldn't really be effected, as Scotland didn't want to to change much about the colony. Most that was being done was shipment of supplies to build a new proper capital and increase the size and capacity of trading ports. Later on, with the assistance of Masrani Global, a proper military garrison and base would be established.
