Armed Forces’ modernization strategy

Congress is requiring the military to develop a modernization due out in the July of 2018, according to language in the conference report of the defense policy. The request comes at a time the Military is attempting to make a reform in its mission. All services from the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Marines were given a significant amount of budgetary increase to develop a new modernization plan from weapons to strategy.

The top priorities for modernization going forward are: Long Range Precision Fires, next-generation combat vehicle, future vertical lift, the network, air-and-missile defense, soldier lethality and restoration of weapons of mass destruction program.

Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis also met with Commanders of UCCs to discuss the continuity of overseas contingency operations since the overseas contingency budget was transferred to fund military R&D. The pentagon also awarded multiple defense modernization contracts to several US defense contractors.

Military deployment

United States Army deployed elements of the 4th Infantry and 10th Mountain divisions to North Pole. The 4th ID’s headquarters will deploy from Fort Carson, Colorado to support Operation Arctic Sentinel. The main objective of Operation Arctic Sentinel is to secure the newly discovered oil deposits at the Arctic. Currently, 1,200 troops have been deployed to protect and secure oil exploration by US private companies. The troops are also intended to maintain control over the North Pole. USAF will also deploy 5 F-22 Raptor to secure the airspace as well.

 

The operation is expected to expire within 30 days. After the operation expires, the Army will be replaced with private security contractors.

Joint Task Force 7- North Pole (Operation Arctic Sentinel)
“Sir, Our recon battalion detected foreign military movement towards the North Pole.” reports Col. Brian O'Connor, Commander of 652nd Infantry Battalion. “It should be that, Take some nice photographs of them and send it to the Langley.” Commands Brigadier General Henry Marvey. The 652nd Battalion will conduct ground photographs of the equipments, vehicles and weapons used by foreign military at the north pole. The battalion was also tasked to study and analysis the troops patterns while working on their missions. Meanwhile, the 5 F-22 Raptor will be withdrew from the North Pole and return to its base at Montreal AFB. After gathering photographs and intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency who is in charge of this deployment will authorize the withdrawal of JTF-7 from the North Pole. The Director of Central Intelligence will also contact The Secretary of Defense regarding the successful of this mission.
The photographs and analysis will be presented on Presidential Daily Briefing as well to the Pentagon. “How easy it is to bait a military, perhaps we only need a division to trap the entire of their military and destroy it.” Wrote Director of Central Intelligence on the PDB.


Strengthening the North American Aerospace Defense
Commander in Chief of North American Aerospace Defense General Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy proposed the expansion of NORAD area to include Bahamas and Mexico. The organization of NORAD will be divided into four regions which consists of:
1. Alaskan NORAD Region (ANR), Headquarter at Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson
2. Canadian NORAD Region (CANR), Headquarter at Montreal AFB
3. Continental NORAD Region (CONR), Headquarter Peterson AFB
4. Mexican NORAD Region (MNR), Headquarter Santa Lucía AFB
NORAD will establish an early warning system on several Mexican cities as well Bahama. The United States Air Force is also planned to establish new air force formation that will be stationed at Mexico and Bahama. The Army was also interested to place air defense systems in Mexico to strengthen the multi-layered air defense strategy  the Air Force.


The Visibuilding Program of DARPA
The Visibuilding program has a really ambitious goal: find everyone and every weapon inside a building from the outside.
Using radar signals, the Visibuilding program tried to visualize moving personnel within a building as well as a static floor plan and ventilation system map.
Eventually, they were able to provide 3D maps of target buildings and also find large concentrations of metal, like weapons cache.
All of this tech is headed to the Army and SOCOM, but if it eventually ends up in civilian hands it could be useful to civilian police and firefighters.


A New Strategy towards Asia Region
United States Indo-Pacific Command planned to intensify its activities over pacific and indian ocean. They planned to conduct naval and aerial reconnaissance on military activities over Pacific Ocean. The USINDOPACOM will cooperate with National Reconnaissance Office to analysis the military activities using reconnaissance satellites as well reconnaissance squadron of US Pacific Fleet. To determine the actions of US Navy in the Pacific ocean. 
The Central Intelligence Agency will also recruit agents from China, Russia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and India to create an intelligence framework in Asia. The CIA will also establish regional offices in several cities such as Phuket, Mumbai, Medan, Lhasa, Kathmandu, Yakutsk and others.
