ReuKinChe
After attempts by the Lumian Empire to strike down orbital farm shipments, in an attempt to starve the Republic into submission, one orbital farm was repositioned over the Meta Board. Shipments of food would be directed to the Meta Board's landing grounds. The other orbital farm would be moved to dock with the Lumian Space Station, where its crops would be used for scientific research and the feeding of the LSS's inhabitants. Surplus food would be stored for later, once the Imperial threat to shipments had been neutralised. In the meantime, several vertical hydroponic farms would be constructed around the Republic. These new farms would be very efficient. 95% less water would be used, and there would be no need for pesticides. 99% less land would be needed, and crop yield would be higher, due to the controlled conditions in the farms. Because the farms could be anywhere and still grow a full range of crops, there would be low transportation costs, making them environmentally friendly, with a reduction in carbon emissions by 98%. Each row of crops would be carefully monitored, and attended to by drones and advanced climate control. Because such technology would obviously be a priority target for the Empire, they would be located underground, with LEDs used to produce the ideal light frequency.
