Popular Post Spaceman Thrax
A short time ago, Space Uncle put out a call for those who, like Him, would be HEARD. Those who would speak without faces, declare their reality without allegiance, and profess without reserve. And though his Word remains supreme, He has instructed me to convey these realities to you, to better prepare you for His truth. Mr. Pink has answered His call. Quote Why did replying to this idea appeal to you? I think this may help folks get out of their respective echo chambers and see what others really think about their alliances from the outside looking in. Also, it's interesting to see what random players that may not have major presence think about without having their leaders speak for them. How would you describe your in-game political outlook? At the moment, the political outlook is a bit gray. After some wars, there are clear paths, but not after this one. Too many longtime friends and alliances have broken off, changed leaderships, and things are very different to me. I'm still waiting for things to settle to see where all the cards eventually fall. What is an ideal state for this game to be in, in your opinion? I'd love for there to be more defined and equal spheres. The Syndi vs. NPO sphere is the most broken record. It's so damn boring. I'd like to see some growth in the smaller spheres and have them be more relevant. Anything besides Syndi vs. NPOsphere would be infinitely better and give everyone something new to talk about. I'd absolutely love to see some action from the paperless alliances. They're making me miss TEst. How would you describe the general state of the game right now (mechanically and/or politically)? That's a bit tricky right now because we're coming off some major events. There's the OO break up which led to the Easter War; this whole Nazi thing with IG and KT put a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. Plus, there's a feeling that Alex has kinda checked out and I feel that's leaving players kinda meh. Lots of old-timers have left in the past 6 months. Things feel both tense and blasé. It's weird. Also, the server issues with this game are ridiculous. That is something I know can be easily fixed. Politics & Snore is two or three minutes now? Give me a break. Go through as much of the main alliance list as you please and give your opinions on each AA. If you can, try to provide at least one positive and at least one negative for each. TKR: I think of them as one of the boring "heroes" in this story. They're always trying to be noble, do the right thing, Clark Kent shit, and let their actions speak for them. Bland. I am very interested in how that may changed since Lordship is now in charge. Very curious to see how they like his style in comparison to Dalinar's. Pantheon: Very impressed with their warring recently and have always felt like they got a bad rap. Yui is one of the best leaders in the game and is underestimated. She's so nice, but she's clearly also a great and strong leader. Only bad thing about Pan is that they're kinda cult-y with their anime. Knights Templar: Have no idea how KT is a top 5 alliance without having fought a war and not doing much of anything. Have no idea what game they're playing politically. Looks like they're trying to be the new GPA but with bullshit ODPs. I have a sneaking suspicion they're going to be a threat, but to who? Their growth has been impressive, but what are they doing with it? t$: They had a huge exodus of longtime players that made me think something had gone terribly wrong. But I gotta say, I really respect Jessica as a leader. She's very smart and ambitious. It's impressive they got dogpiled the way they did and still survived. I don't know if they're that strong and smart or if IQ was really just that bad and weak. NPO: I think they could take down Syndi if they really got their shit together. As far as I know, the Easter War has been their strongest showing and they did some damage. People would fear them more if their econ wasn't so counterproductive. Roq could be really something if he played the game smarter. He could turn atheists into believers but he just comes off as a sore forever loser. Their intentional stunted growth doesn't win wars. They are only effective in the low-mid tier but that's not wars are won. I know that's their gameplay but they'll never win that way... not on their own, at least. BK: Yikes. Bring Yoso back. I've never seen a top alliance shit the bed all around the way they've done in such a short amount of time. Their FA and PR is atrocious and they don't have that fun party charm they used to have. They need to be rehabbed badly. Zodiac: Not much to say. Seem to have the best PR from the IQ side (which isn't saying much because all they did was stay quiet after it was clear they weren't going to win). Would like to see their personality and who they are outside of their bloc. Rose: Super impressed with their warring this go-round. Change in leadership has definitely done them good. Hogwarts: Whale retirement home. Where whales go to die. I don't know. Favorite theme in the game, though. Mensa: I think they're the most obnoxious aa in Syndi. Wish they had a bit more grace in winning. Their performance this war was not as dynamic as I'm used to seeing from them. I'm just used to them putting up monster numbers but they didn't...t$ was jumped worse and did better. TCW: Orbis !@#$ed around and turned the nice neutrals into killers. Very impressed with their war stats. Don't know much about them outside of that. Lordaeron: They could be major playmakers if Kastor wasn't so shitty with FA and so utterly idiotic sometimes. I think if they shaped up their military a bit more, got a new face to rep them, and put Kastor in a different role, people may change their tune about them. But they're "Kastor's Alliance." That needs to change somehow if they want to be taken more seriously. Guardian: They may be my favorite alliance. Just the right amount of ties, strong showings. Solid. Cornerstone: They're like BK in the sense that their change in leadership completely sabotaged them. Their FA went to shit and they got outed as god awful fighters. They lost 3 major longtime players in a short amount of time and sunk like a stone during the Easter War. They need to be rehabbed, too. UPN: Only became relevant again after their allies shit on them for leaving a losing war after a month. Would love to see them rise from the ashes and squash BK for talking shit. HBE: !@#$ed themselves by trying to play both sides in the war. Proved to be untrustworthy to both sides. I don't know how their allies are going to be able to work with them in the future. Seven Kingdoms: How did they try to come for Mensa with how shit their military has been? Suicide alliance. Arrgh: Arrgh! ALL the paperless alliances: Do something. Anything. If you could change one thing about the game, what would it be? I wish the community would take a breath and listen to each other sometimes. Too much hive mind and echo chambering. Too many trolls. Utmost thanks to Mr. Pink for helping me demo this idea. I'll be in touch with others who have expressed interest shortly. Feel free to comment on this below, if you see something that might make for interesting discussion or that you agree/disagree with. Part of what I'll be basing my decision to continue these interviews on is if they happen to get people interested. : ) Edited June 26, 2017 by Spaceman Thrax 8 Quote Slaughter the shits of the world. Arkiri Arch
The alliance descriptions was the best part, most of them are unbiased it seems. I wouldn't give a damn about echo chambers and whatnot. Plus I also wouldn't have been as tactful as this person was when describing alliances. EDIT: I also want to state that Dalinar/IC is one of those Steve/Placentica and Alex/Sheepy types. Where I keep using one or the other label for them.
