Top fighters

You can be a great fighter in an alliance that gets rolled often that much is true, but getting noticed as such is a different matter. Mayor on that list for example has always been good but it is only recently (in his Rose outing) he is being recognised as such outside largely just Arrgh/RW folk. Why? Well his conflicts were RW getting hit by half a dozen then Rose allies, dismantling Phoenix who was hardly highly rated (no offence to them), getting mugged by TKR as Overlord Kastor designed, Pantheon hit while everyone's attention was on the damage at the very top from TEst (RW's efforts in general there I feel went overlooked honestly, but it doesn't really matter), and finally of course Papers Please which are as stacked as the odds can be. 

 

Reps be it your alliance's or your own also can play a part.

 

The people listed here all deserve it though yes, that is certain enough.

 

 

You're right, it's more difficult to be noticed as a good fighter in an alliance that usually ends up on the losing end of wars. This is one of those matters that can't be seen as black and white.

 

Like I had said, there's plenty of skilled fighters in that sort of alliances. I mean, Arrgh is among the alliances that have been rolled most times, and several players in those 2 lists are / were Arrgh members. Mayor is a great example actually - when he arrived at Roz Wei he already had pretty good stats, as I'm sure Tywin, Warpool and other former Arrgh members did when they left.

 

So yeah, these stats are a good indicator, but they obviously don't explain everything and aren't fully revealing as far as the best fighters is concerned. Stats are, however, the most palpable indicator we can go by. So as much as they don't tell the whole story, they're probably the most objective data we have at our disposal to analyze this subject.

We need more 1 vs 1 with alliances with similar power, in that case stats are good to identify the best fighters

Discussing who's the best fighter is a little awkward. The game's war system is very simple, and a lot of wars are decided less on experience and more on just numbers and coordination. Papers, Please showed us that it doesn't matter how good you are if you get zerged rushed. This war is showing that it doesn't matter what your numbers are if your tiering, activity, and strategy aren't sound.

 

While being experienced and knowing what to do (double-buying, integrating espionage ops, saving warchest, fighting for air, etc) is important, it's also important that you have numbers to back you up. Any 1 Terminus Est member could've been brought down by 3 VE or Polaris members if that 1 TEstie didn't have backup (assuming the attack was coordinated, everyone had the same military, and had a proper warchest).

 

In the end, it comes down less to how individuals do in wars, and how alliances do in wars.

I'm not saying you're completely wrong, Thalmor, but a lot of people are utterly unable to master even PNW's very simple war system. Individual skill is important mostly because so many people lack it.

List is pretty much indicative of people who generally know what they are doing in a fight, have had more wars than most other nations and have been lucky enough to be on the winning side or had lucky fights against large nations.

 

No reason for people to get their panties in a twist or think that this list is indicative of anything besides a general indicator of prowess and luck.
