Why Do Liberals Celebrate Christmas?

In my humble opinion, I think you've got the wrong idea about being liberal. Being liberal doesn't necessarily mean you're against religions, but it is against religions to be practiced in public (government institutions, public schools, and whatnot) where these facilities are funded by taxpayers' money from the mixed background of faith and beliefs.

Furthermore, the notion that being liberal means you're also an atheist is utterly wrong. There are many liberals who still believe in the Supreme Being and Jesus in particular. Thus, celebrating Christmas doesn't contradict them in any ways whatsoever.

In fact, my Christian faith compels my liberalism. There are too many verses to even both quoting, but Leviticus 19:34 is a good place to start, as is Colossians 3:11, Exodus 23:6 and Dueteronomy 15:4.

Before I was a Christian, I was a conservative libertarian Ron Paul supporter.

Some say Jesus was a socialist, though. He helped the poor a lot and dedicated his life to the poor.

To be honest, I kinda like libertarian platform. They're pretty much saying "I don't give a shit to your businesses" both socially and fiscally.

if you wanna get into the "Jesus was a socialist" argument, you need to know the difference between social taxation (money unwillingly taken) and personal charity (money willingly given). If you remove the aspect of charity, it means you're not putting in the effort to actually help people, you're just letting your money get taken from you to be redistributed how the government sees fit - and that doesn't always align with people's personal views (i think charity should be for research foundations, not welfare, for example).

Why don't you just make it easier to help the poor by establishing a law for such a thing? And just to be clear here, I'm not a religious people. But, I do love some ideas within Christianity, especially those who encourage us to help the poor.

Who's holding the gun to your head to make you stay in the US under this horrible, horrible system? I'll go pick up some day laborers at Home Depot and send them in to free you as you appear to be held hostage.

the us is better than the vast majority of the world in most ways, so people like to stay
