We will keep this announcement short until we have the full details. Today at an unknown time, one of the First Citizens has been shot. Jefferson David III was reported dead by Senate Security after shots were heard around the building. The assassin has escaped. Though First Citizen David was more of a background leader/character and liked to stay out of the spot light, he was a known political activist helped gain favor for some notable bills passed by the Senate. The murder took place only minutes after Emperor of the Dutch left Rome to check on his wife and aid in the search. First Citizen David had just given a speech to the Senate calling to aid the search in Empress Wolf's disappearance. We are currently looking into any and all possibilities, until we can rule out a few possible international figures as suspects we will only allow a select few to aid in the Investigation. Our Boarders have been closed off to foreign people. No one is allowed in or out until we can figure this out. After the assassination of First Citizen David, an emergency Senate hearing was scheduled and commenced. The Senate has handed the Sword of Power over to First Citizen Richard Lee. The vote passed unanimously, making Lee the first Dictator of Rome.(For those who don't know their history: Dictator was originally used by the Romans, it was a title of power for when one of the Consuls were appointed Dictator by the Senate. They had absolute power during war or in State of Emergency. They would hand back over the Sword of Power to the Senate after the Crisis had been resolved) Thank you all for reading our National News and for your support for finding the assassin or assassins. tl;dr: First Citizen David III was assassinated, First Citizen Lee has been given control of the Senate and Nation as a whole.
