If you saw Pacific Rim and still enjoyed it for the big-screen spectacle despite some obvious logic errors, shallow characters, and tons of plot conveniences, you'll probably enjoy the second Independence Day movie, too. I re-watched the first one first and really felt like the second one was a natural continuation of that world (with better special effects).
