This is why neutral alliances are boring.  Don't they understand, without wars, the economy goes into the shitter!

More like bad game design. Why is steel/alum used to build military units but not infra? Why don't cities drain gas (no one uses cars in Orbis?).

I would understand using alum/steel in building infra and city but governments don't pay for your gas.

Or good game design.  The purpose of a game is not to replicate or duplicate the real world.  It is to be a game.

Not about realism it's about making sure all resources have their uses. Steel/alum/gas are basically only used in large amounts in wartime (yes they're used in improvements and projects but it's negligible), but war is unpredictable and not constant, they'll be periods of months with no war where resources pile up further reducing prices.

Eventually there's going to be so many nations in PW producing so many resources that resources themselves are going to become irrelevant through oversupply (happens in every strategy game over the long-term, in a persistent game this only gets worse) and money will become the only real resource. The only way to stop this is to create ways to drain manufactured resources outside war, ie resource sinks.

All resources have their uses.  So the name of the game implies that the game creator sees war as being important to the platform.  So make the resources more scarce and fight more.  And gluts and famines are perfectly fine tbh.  Its just part of the game.

Long term, meh, maybe a bit but its far less of a problem than in other games because as production goes up consumption in war goes up.  This is due to, frankly, decent game design.

The only way to really break the balance is to fiddle significantly with something like Nukes or Missiles (yes pre that is bait for you right there).

Stats? On a Sunday? :o

First the pretty graph

OFkcbza.png

Now as you can see a clear tendency is emerging. The BK side is barely taking any damage, while the UPN side is quickly approaching non-existence. At the current rate they will cease to exist in less than 2 weeks!

"But wait! I just checked the total for the UPN side on the graph from yesterday and it looks like it's about the same as today. Are you cooking the numbers Zoot?" No dammit! I already explained it! When new alliances join I add them to the stats for the previous days to avoid weird jumps in the graphs and the UPN side have had Fark join them since last...oh and I kinda forgot to include Alpha, gg me :P

Now what else? Well unfortunately there is nothing interesting in the stats. Well except for Fark losing more than 25% of their score in a day...but besides that it's just mostly more of the same. The BK side lost around 9k score and the UPN side lost more than 5 times as much. So yeah, same old same old.

Well I did notice one thing. Don't know if I've mentioned it previously. From the beginning of the current conflict only 3 alliances on the BK side have lost more than 20% of their score. On the UPN side only 1 alliance has lost less than 20% of their score (well two if you count Alpha, but they lost a lot more than 20% of their score before this current conflict started, so they don't count).

I mean, at least my score is still pretty much the same

Your nation isn't winning the overall war though. Maybe joining a better alliance? Sparta's efforts if anything has helped us. Most of the time with Sparta's nations one airstrike does as much monetary damage to infra as one nuke on us and then we get to go into beige.

Johnny boy, come to the competent side. You're good, but you're surrounding yourself with crap people. Not saying join BK, but it's a shame you wasting your efforts in Sparta. I care about my doge brother and I want to see you reach your full potential.

[22:37:51] <&Yosodog> Problem is, everyone is too busy deciding which top gun character they are that no decision has been made

Fark lost 25% of their score in a day? Damn we handled that pretty well I'd say :D

I believe Fark lost 33ish% of their raw military score in a day which is more prescient for the first days an alliance is at war.

Let's also add in economic potential loss too.

Lets see. A nation at peace with 2k infra and 15 cities makes what? Low end of 2.5m a day from commerce alone? (ignoring resources and manufacturing which you shouldnt but whatever). So 75m a month per nation?
