Licorice
Dear journal, Today, I will embark on a great journey to visit each and every single alliance headquarters to be situated in Orbis. Despite their locations being publicly known to most Orbisian, none of us - saves the world leaders appearently - have a general understanding of what those buildings even look like ... or the people which resides in them. Through this journey, I will also cover the cultures of those people, in hope of adding more knowledge for those that may in need of them. If I survive that is. In two hours, I will depart northward to the land of snow and dragons, in search of my first destination May the Sheep God guide my way to salvation, Pan the explorer. ---------- tl:dr kinda like Mad Max's thing only with pictures and no alliance-hopping. Lemme see if I will ever finish this Now to see how the hell am I suppose to write about BoC...

Popular Post Licorice
Entry 1: Monastery of the Clouds Dear journal, it has been 4 days since I've started my journey, now I find myself on the island of Kaua'i in the Hawaii archipelago, waiting to be taken to the headquarter building of the alliance known as the Brotherhood of the Clouds. The Cloudfolks have been kind enough to offer me a tour of it, let's hope the rest of the trip will be just as easy. From their name, you would probably find it ironic that their HQ is situated in a volcanic islands chain; I myself did for a little while. Until I step out of the plane to see that the entire island has literally froze over. There were snow and ice everywhere with no sign of anything remotely tropical. "Courtesies of Lord FrostSword." - they said. It would seem that this former leader of theirs, this FrostSword, has transformed the island's climate to "better suited the brotherhood's theme" as he put it, though my guide refused to indulge me on how he manage to perform such a feat. Though something tells me they do not know it themselves. Suddenly, something caught my eyes. "By Sheepy's wool, are those ...?" "Aye, dragons." Apparently, the brotherhood is, other than an alliance of nations, an order of zealots that worship entities known as Dragon Gods and dedicated to "open a pathway to heaven" as they put it. My guide explained to me that the brotherhood discover a dragon egg on this island a long time ago, thus make this island their home to protect the "children of the gods". From that one egg, the ex-genetic-company InGen has been breeding more and more until the species that we all thought to be legends is now flying across the world, however few they maybe at the moment. Ignoring the thumping of my heart, we proceed to a large golden gate at the side of a glacier, illuminated by a nearby blazer. The gate is oddly simplistic in design (blame my gate drawing skill : P) and seems to be made entirely out of gold. The top of it was decorated by a metallic dragon head that was made with the same material, it's blood red eyes seems to be carved from ruby ... or was just painted over. Suddenly my guide place his palm on top of a gem adorning the middle of the gate and mutter a chant which I've never heard of before. The gate then slide open causing a loud rumble to noise throughout the glacier. The robed figure turns toward me and bit me to enter first. Swallowing a breath, I proceed inside to the unknown. ---------------- Despite being a group that seemingly came straight out of a fantasy medieval game, the interior was actually pretty modern. "Behold, our monastery." I was looking down a large bright silvery hall filled with all sort of bookshelves, scrolls, weapons and peoples wearing grey-white robe running all over. At the back of the hall were doors that lead to the various wings of the monastery, the hall I've just seen was apparently a lounge of sort. We then proceed to take a look at the various ministries, there was a massive change of BoC's government awhile back so I don't know much about their current officers, save for Minister Freer and Chancellor Ivan. During the trip, I notice one specific hallway that was devoid of light though was enough for me to see the same statue of a man that was now in various corners of Pakistan ... with the phrase "Mensa sucks" being written all over it. When asked, my guide made a disgruntled noise and tell me sternly to never talk about it with anyone in these hall. Strange. At the end of the day, my tour ended without any trouble, Chancellor Ivan personally see me off and ask me to spread the word about them to gather more people for the cause which I promised.

Mike Haggar
btw, on a scale of 1 to 10, how crappy does that moutain/glacier look? First, I want to say that the artwork itself is superb, and it's obvious a lot of work has gone into it. Your post is far better with that image than without it. I hope to see more from you, and I doubt I could do anything of that quality. It's great that you want to improve, but I'd say that the image is acceptable as-is. If it's feedback that you want, I think that it's the colors that are what make it look like water, more than anything. There's a definite blue to a lot of glaciers, but the base is more white than you have it. At night, it's likely the glacier will look more white than the surrounding landscape. Perhaps the white and blue could've been inverted, with the white made a darker shade to reflect night time. Also, the choice to have a concave cliff makes the door a little less imposing. This is because concave cliffs, in general, look less stable (because they are), and tend to loom over things underneath them. That makes anything underneath them look smaller and more secretive. This might be what you were going for, given the night motif, but the door itself seems to be trying to burst out from underneath the cliff. A convex cliff would've suited the door's might a lot better. Please note that the above does not mean that I am dissatisfied with the image. On the contrary, I enjoyed looking at it. It's merely a discussion of potential changes, since you seem unhappy with it. Edited January 27, 2016 by Mike Haggar
